I've got few people that don't know how to edit vector files. I've clearly written that buyer needs to know how to use Illustrator but still these people sometimes show up. I've said them to ask refund if they, but haven't hearr them since.

Nice to see February is beating January.

Portfolio: +2%
Earnings: +17%

SS +16%
FT +45%
DT +26%
123RF -21%
BS +12%

I am working on my raise. Just finished editing 800 images from my travel to France, now I am keywording them, I am sure they will raise my earnings. And then I have another few thousand to process. LOL.

Did you spot Eiffel Tower :)

I was in Paris 2012 taking some blurry nightshots of Champs-Elysees.

Would be nice to have a top-tier raise like $0.40/subs for over $50.000 earnings or something. That would give a nice bonus for people that really have been the pioneers of microstock.

When I played internet poker, there was these FPP's (player points) and when you got enough them you could buy some nice accessories like Porsche Carrera or a trip to Hawaii  :) Why not do something like that, but in microstock scene. I could get a retina iMac or 5d3 with my FPP's and make better microstock images. Or then a free vacation away from my computer.

In my mind it would be awesome to see rewards for a long time contributors. There's many ways to reward those pioneers, it's just that SS (and other stock agencies) don't want to.

There are some very helpful simple exercises on Google sites, which do not need special equipment - doing one of these, then another for four or five minutes throughout your day - would, I am sure, solve your problems.  I have printed them out so I can refer to them easily..  I also have a mini-trampoline, which is excellent (see reviews etc., on line) and you can watch TV or the DVD manual or even just look at your photo image from a short distance away...and re-consider it!  Have a good stretch and have a good day.

Hi Susanita, is there any links that you could give me for those exercises?  :)

I think this a win-win for atleast me. Constantly uploading new vectors to fotolia and sales are still declining. On other sites it's the opposite.

Impossible to answer because the quality is so important. With 100 high quality vectors you'll make more than with 1000 crappy ones. Focus on quality and getting to the 1st page of your niche more than in the size of your portfolio.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Using Fonts for Micro stock
« on: December 11, 2014, 05:24 »
Hey people, i got some nice backgrounds, i tought about putting some text over them

1. is places like shutter accept concept pictures for example " Happy Birthday " and a picture of a cacke?

2. what about fonts copyrights? can i use sepsific fonts for my pictures? is there some without copy rights?

what do u think?

1. Yes, if 2. is ok.

2. Check the license for fonts you are about to use. If the font is ok for commercial use, and no need for attribution, then it's ok to use them as long as you don't embed those fonts in vector files.

This is just my 2 cents and somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.

Sissy push-ups should do the trick. Hands leaning on a wall, feet just under a meter away from the wall to put you at an angle and stand on on tip-toe. Keep your back straight, head up and execute between 500 and 750 disciplined push-ups...spread the total across the day in sets of 50 or a 100

This works every big muscle set except your quadriceps and lower abs - sort those out with sissy squats ie without a barbell

Exercising is something I should start doing. Those sissy push-ups are actually just what my physiotherapist recommended. I had forgotten those so thanks for reminding me :)

Congrats mate, hopefully this will bring you some relief. Remember to try to keep correct posture no matter if you sit or stand.
Keep us updated!

Thanks, I will post my journey with my back problems  :)

Be careful in long term, I had unlucky to serve occupation Soviet army and one punishment (torment) mode was, they put me to stay in one and same place for hours and hours, it makes my back ill as well my legs, once I was released after 2 year I come home half invalid.

Kalevi, microstock sometimes feels like soviet army  :D

Bought a Bekant electric table yesterday and after 1 hour of hard work it was up and running  :D

Not the prettiest, but had to stay in a budget. Desk is 120x80 centimeters.

Thanks a lot Snow, charged, Realist, Uncle Pete and Zeus for your advices. Yes, variety is the key. I used to go to gym that five times a week and my back felt great other than when it got broken due to sitting in a bad position too much. I stopped going to gym after that and now my back is soooo weak. Should start doing those back muscles again.

I definitely have to change my work routines. Have been doing some McKenzie cobras and walking. I've had been five months with this horrible leg pain that comes from lover spine. I'm on a waiting list to get a MRI, so then I will see how bad it is ??? Would love to get it fixed without a surgery.

What I got was slipped spinal disc, rather serious and at one time I couldn't even tie my shoelaces. Now I can even do mountain biking. In addition to a standing desk, you will need a monitor arm to lift your monitor up to the eye level so your neck won't bend all the time. And those from Ergotron are really good!

I think I have to put few books under my imac to raise it  :D

This one from ergotron would be awesome!

I'll go to Ikea next week to check out that electric Bekant table. Hope it's good.

I had lower back pain until got an ergonomic chair with a laptop stand, also bought a special mouse pad to attach to the armrest and i love this system. Now I can work lying down, people hate me for this .-)
There is also an option with a legrest

http://www.centrumkrzesel.pl/zestaw-1-ergohuman-24h/3474/p   (price around $600)

Different one, more expensive and nicer design - http://www.mposition.pl/

Wow, welcome to the spaceship!  :D Those look awesome! I once had sun chair at my office, but it wasn't that good  :D

Check this out
http://www.homedit.com/ikea-standing-desk/

I've back problem for years and then saw this website and made a DIY standing desk by putting a Ikea Lack TV unit on top of a Galent desk with A-frame desk legs. Since then, my back problem has gone completely. Cheapest and best solution!

Thanks for the link. That's great resource and your story definitely inspired me to get a standing desk.

Thanks everyone for your kind help  :)

I bought a Geek desk (motorized sit/standing desk) and it's been great. I stand when I'm working at home, but still sit at work. I need to get another one so I can go back and between sitting and standing at work.

Don't go straight to just standing - that's hard as well. Take time to adjust and find your mix. Overall, you'll be happy with this purchase, I think.

I've watched few videos that recommended Geek desk and probably would buy it if I would live in US. Yea, have to start slowly.

Please "don't try this at home", standing in one and same place is much worse than sitting! The solution is carry on as you doing your computer works, but a while go outside for a walk, perhaps you got one image more, if you take camera with you :)

BR,

Kalevi

Thanks Kalevi. Have to remember not to get stuck in one place :D

Work on abdominals and dorsal muscles
I am serious it helps a lot

This is something I've been doing for a while now. I've done also some McKenzie excercises.

Since I'm doing sports (light weight training) it is completely gone.
Lying down and push up two dumbbells upwards. Such similar exercises in the gym. Have since then no more problems. Simple as that.

I did go to the gym five times a week before I broke my back and haven't gone since that. I've been thinking about getting back with light weights.

I found that an inversion table helps a lot with the back pain.  I sit for working, but also walk a few miles daily.

I've done that too, but it only helped for a few minutes after inversion :(

I bought this because i have back problems, too. I love it.

That seems like a nice solution. Have to think about that too. Thanks :)

Computer Hardware / Ergonomics - Do you sit or stand?
« on: December 05, 2014, 10:58 »
I'm having some serious back problems, because I sit way too much in front of my computer. Getting some fancy leg pain from herniated disc. That sucks :(

So it's time to change my routines and I'm going to get an electric desk so I can stand more. I already have a gym ball that I'm sitting on so that my posture stays good :D

Has anyone else had any health problems by sitting too much and is there any self treatments that you've found successful?

I'm probably going to buy this one:

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Sellfy Shop - Any Thoughts?
« on: December 05, 2014, 10:34 »
They seem to be just starting out, but I think they can be a serious player to sell some "artsy" image bundles. Of course it's not traditional micro/macro marketplace, but maybe someone founds success on that type of marketplace.

Selling Stock Direct / Sellfy Shop - Any Thoughts?
« on: December 04, 2014, 08:57 »
Sellfy has just opened a marketplace where you can sell photos, vectors or any other digital products. Sellfy has been around for a while as a place where you can upload digital products and sell them via your website, but now they opened a marketplace too. It's pretty v.0.1 still, but you can decide your own price and if I remember correctly you'll get 95% commission :D

I hope all the best for them.

Sean, I don't know if understood you correctly, but I think selling those "iphone" etc mockups is a win-win situation for everyone. I don't think Apple gives much about if people make mockups of their devices. Free marketing.

The problem is, there's no requirement they only be used as "mockups".  Everything on CM comes with the same RF commercial license.

Yes, that's true. Maybe there should be a "mockup up" license.

I have one only for illustrations. Very easy to use. Fast, reliable and seo friendly. Payments via paypal and stripe. 14$ per month.

I've tried self-hosted wordpress too, but shopify fits better to my needs even thought it's about 10$ per month more expensive.

General Stock Discussion / Re: To sell vectors...
« on: October 10, 2014, 16:12 »
Yes, vectorstock is a crappy site, but a good one to get a feeling of selling vectors. You should first understand the market before you can beat it. It might take time to get accepted at SS so start with someone smaller, see if you get even one sale and go from there.

Microstock is full of crappy vectors so find a niche or bring the best quality. There sure is a need for high quality stuff so be prepared to work hard. It might take years to build a portfolio that gives you fulltime income and even then who knows where the market is going.

Just understand the market, fill a niche with high quality and work your ass off!

You might want to try vectorstock first. When you get some sales there, you can try to get accepted at shutterstock.
