Stocksy / Re: How are the video sales on Stocksy?
« on: September 11, 2019, 02:02 »

I know (rejected direct) people who sell video in stocksy through other contributors, but they are sporadic sales. Is a photo site.

I know is a great site,  but they have rejected me so many times that I will not waste any more time, and im in adobe premium, offset and other sites and i dscovered i prefer microstock sites and create video.

Again, I hear you, however we get plenty of contributors asking us to allow more space for tags as they feel 50 is not enough. So for some, getting to 40 tags is really not a problem, even when adding highly relevant words - literal, descriptive and conceptual.

Of course, this amount of tags is not always required, depending on the type of image, so it's not a perfect system by any means.

We are committed to continually develop the system and we've already made a number of changes and improvements since the original release. Before making any changes to the number of tags needed to achieve "good" status (or removing the discoverability bar entirely) we would adopt an evidence based approach looking at data across the board. E.G average number of tags in the collection, looking at best performing collections and number of tags per image etc before making any decisions. It's worth noting that previously we had a character based system rather than individual tags, and when we analysed the collection at the time we found that 50 tags seemed to be the sweet spot in terms of an optimal number. Things change all the time though and we've had enough feedback to know it needs to be revisited and tweaked if required.

So I can't offer any timeframes for change, but just know that if you feel you have added all relevant information yet still don't have a "good" rating for the image discoverability, it's fine to leave it as "poor / amber". I think we all agree that labeling something "poor" from our side is no longer the best terminology, however at the time of release this was about encouraging contributors to provide more info as a lot of it was too sparse.

We know we're not perfect but we promise to learn from our failings - the perfect system probably does not exist when you're dealing with 150,000 contributors, all of which have different requirements and image types - but we'll keep evolving!

Thanks for sticking with us.

Hello, I see that the button to upload the model releaseo has disappeared for both Mac and Windows, take a look, I have not been able to upload a new authorization for two months!

In a bid to simplify the upload process we removed the requirement for you to upload releases. If you have a release available, just check the box to say you have one. If we have a client that needs a copy, then we'll get in touch with you.

Cheers

James A
Thanks!!!

General Midstock / Re: offset, image source, stoksy experience
« on: August 16, 2019, 11:59 »
in offset, there was a time that at the beginning and not being saturated, I made two dollars per image a month or more in offset with a medium quality lifestyle (couples in city, group of workers in factory, family shots...). Today it is saturated with distribution agencies and my income has fallen to the level of Alamy, so I lost interest and returned to microstock. Offset has sinned the same as shutter: saturating the agency. They have also made a terrible management of exclusive content. Another big problem is the infinite scroll that buries the photos forever with some time.

Stocksy, I don't know how it goes, I guess it stays. Im not a very cool photographer.

Distributors such as images source, Westend61, or cavan receive for example 7.5 -10% of the sale made in getty, 15-25% in offset and 20% in premium adobe, so unless you are a Great producer, I do not recommend it, macro is a 25% of market and they take 50% of your earnings and rejects 60% of your photos.....
Personally I make more money in microstock  with my images mirrowed in getty by eyeem, where I have refocused my business.

Im very happy that a lot of photographers want focus in macrostock and lifestyle in the street with 1.4 sigmas. This is the new market saturation.

Adobe Stock / Re: What's going on with Adobe Stock?
« on: August 07, 2019, 02:30 »
Yep, last month was about half of my peak, which was last November.
Yep.  We call that "summer."

Happens every year. People take vacations. Companies decide what to for the coming Winter season.  Nothing unusual.

This is not a paycheck that remains the same whether you work or not, or whether the stuff you sell is wanted or not. It has seasonal variations, and the pipeline must be constantly fed to keep the material fresh.

Learn to live with it... or leave the hobby/business (getting harder and harder to really call it a business...)

Are you new in this business?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Deceased model

in my case if the death had been tragic, it was a child .... I would erase it. I would also erase it if it were an amateur model that I did not pay for or paid little. If model is a professional or i paid like a pro,  not do it. We will all die, Arato Andras will die too.

Yes, if you want your products to be in stocksy by addictive, they will not go to offset and adobe and also in a strange maneuver, you give them, addictive,  the copyright of your photos. They take 40% of your sales, and copyright.

I thought Stocksy was a CO-OP? Who in their right mind would give a company/agency copyright without a buy-out fee?

desperate photographers to be accepted in such a cool agency.

Stocksy / Re: Call To Artists is Open!
« on: March 14, 2019, 02:52 »
The email just in. It's a big no. Bu at least this time they gave explanation. They felt my images are a little much like a stock. They also say I should improve my white balance and post process. They want most accurate possible skin tone. Fair enough I guess, cause I'm color blind. I should buy those grey card soon.
Good luck to anyone here still wait for response.

sorry, Stocksy is very elitist and knows that the stability of his collaborators is to admit few people and photos.Sites slike Offset and deparatments such as premium adobe and infinite fotolia have lost their sales because they admit many photos and contributors.

Anyway, stocksy is not what it used to be either.

...im blind color too

I applied again last month. Today is exactly one month since the email that said my application is complete. Still no news from them.

Below is a screenshot of my application pages. Constructive feedback would be appreciated.
the diversity angle is good. they have a couple of guys shooting like you, I can't speak for Stocksy as to what they are looking for, but all the best!

They are very diverse and candid photos. Today stocksy is very exquisite, but at another time you would be accepted without problems

Stocksy / Re: Call To Artists is Open!
« on: January 29, 2019, 03:34 »
finally I will not apply more to stocksy this year and probably never. I have nothing new to offer nor a lot of desire to take pictures. They always rejected me and the numbers of people i know in saids that they are suffering like the whole market. For me it is sad to see that I gain more with microstock (shutterstock, fotolia, eyeem ...) than with macrostock (w61, offset, adobe premium) and the main reason is that to sell in macrostock you have to try harder with premium models, style and sites and  and I no longer have time or motivation to spend a lot of money in shottings.

93
Today, starting in shutter or fotolia is very frustrating. The market is obviously declining and saturated. my income in istock represent 10% of the total. There is nothing guaranteed whatever you do but you will need more time to upload.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Bad july.. How was yours?

Worst July in micro since 2013
Average low month in macro and exclusive sites.

About shutter, only 110 dls more than July 2017 uploading 1000 files this year.

one question..did you manage to spend one hour browsing the stocksy collectioN?

I do sort of get what they want and I did browse. They want something that has a start, middle and end. Like a patient going to to the doctor, there's the sickness, getting out the door, arriving at the office, checkin with receptionist, seeing doctor (most important part) then the rest.

I captured a screenshot of an interesting story of an ethnic woman at the track, highlighting back to health issues since it appears that she recently gave birth (as per the stretch marks).

All this is cool and I could do...but don't want to fork out expenses on models at this stage before getting accepted (chicken and egg scenario). I have included some images of friends/relatives but the story isn't complete.

Anyway, it's all cool...happy either way if I'm in or not.

I know this Spanish photographer. He was admitted a month ago and is great photographer.

Good luck to all. I'm waiting for a month.

for all people: Getty will pay 15% for images Distributors like Blend, Eyeem, Westend61, Imagesource... time ago Getty paid 30-25-22-20% for split agencies and contributors in not exclusive images (images that sell in offset, infinite, alamy...)

Contributors continue with amazing 20% with exclusives collections (e+ for istock signature plus exclusives or moment for direct indi contributors)

The stocksy idea is cool and the project is fair, i think is the more friendly agency.

Part of this sucess secret is sell macro quality images at 1/4 price, great curation, real exclusivity and different style....(plainpicture cheaper style, stocksy didnt discover the hipsters)

People are earning good money there, but finally, what sells is lyfestyle images. Is ever the same history, "rare" images for be aproved, "stocky" images one time you are in. Worker smiling with crossed arms sell more than that hipster,s back in the forest.

All images i see here in this post arent enough unique or god for be in. Yes, i will apply but my images arent enough "unique" for be in.
