12 new sales... nice! I'm assuming they're sales through some kind of partner site or something, and they get reported in chunks rather than every day.
Fantastic!

Nothing in 10 days, generally super low sales recently but thats an entire issue by itself.

Checked my earnings today after a call from another contributor telling me a block of random sales showed up with no emails.

And bam ! 10 sales.
So...check your sales.
10 random sales at once, no notification and after a long dry period.

A bit strange.

Me too!

March $415,39
April $395,62
May $11,12

Not a single one video sale!
*, this is frustrating!
This is bad!

« on: May 08, 2020, 08:51 »
We are heading into the worst recession of our lifetimes. Advertising spends are going to drop off massively. It takes a month for subscriptions to end, some may even have been downloading more last couple of weeks to make the most of their spend or to stock pile for the lean times ahead shielding us from the impact for a while.

Even facebook etc are reporting drops in ad revenue already.

If you think it's bad now wait a couple of months...
So, youre saying that the impact for contributors is just now starting to hit?
Sounds logic.
Do you also think that the market will see better days soon because everyone will need marketing/branding clips and images?

By the way, Im a Big supporter of SS, I think they, like us try to figure out how to keep this market alive.

I'm waiting for the same old replies like "it's the fierce competition", "your work just isn't good enough", "you lost touch with reality", "my sales are fantastic so everything is great", etc...

Those who want to teach this guy some lessons in stock keep in mind that he's talking about $100 a day, on SS alone, not $10 or $1. I have respect for all contributors because I feel for them, we're all in the same boat, well most of us anyway but I do not however have any respect for those who try to lecture others and have nothing to show for (portfolio/sales)

Don't expect any improvement Liorpt! It's a steep downhill for many of us but you must have already known this was coming. Expect some treats now and then to keep you happy and uploading but that's about it.

Take care!
Thanks for the support.
I wish all the comments here will be BME or solid sales or even normal because then Ill know that i can do something about it, adapt, change style/subject. I know how to adapt to trends and I love it when things are my problem cause its up to me to fix it or get lost. I reacted fast to Covid-19 and got nice sales instantly.

And when I said 100$ a day minimum I meant that even if you take Christmas Day, Labor Day, Easter and 4th of July, put them all on the same day that happens to be on a Sunday during Covid-19 and the entire WWW crash, I will still get at least 100$ a day on SS.

And lastly, its the lack of downloads that bother me, not the small income.

Thanks again for your support and I wish everyone here will get tons of sales, this will be a very very good sign for me.

« on: May 08, 2020, 01:26 »
Hi,
8 days into May and its a whole new world of nothing for me. Its not too early to call because my clear bar is a minimum 100$ in sales every day on SS Alone, including weekends and holidays. Im aware of the new sub model and understand the impact on my earnings. But what I dont understand is the massive Drop in number of sales, its like everything stopped.
During Covid19 March and April sales kept coming and I assumed that with the new sub plan my earnings will take a hit but not my downloads and definitely not that bad.

Im on Stockperformer and I can tell that the entire market is taking a hit because even with my super low numbers my ranking is still in the top 25%, I learned to trust Stockperformer because even in my Best months I was still ranked at 82% meaning bigger earners were with me.

So whats going on? Is it because of Covid-19 slowdown? People are just not buying? Lack of budget?
Algorithm changes wouldnt pull everyone on Stockperformer down (the way I see it).

I would love to hear your thoughts about it, am I missing something?

How would you take these stats?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Where are those stats from? I haven't seen that before.

https://www.stockperformer.com/ a pay service that compares your sales to others who pay for the service. I don't think they can read data from companies, only members.

If that's true and only people who pay are included, then being in the top 15% is a good sign for Liorpt?

I think it is, I had an honest emailing with stockperformer and I believe they have a large database.
The way I see it, being in the top 15 is nice, but no one knows what part of the database is video/photo. So, technically if most of the members are photo dudes/girls and I sell 4 clips, no doubt Ill be at the top.

You are in the top 20% of all contributors. However you are in the top 10% in terms of uploads so you are one of the hard workers....if it were me I'd take it as a sign to concentrate more on quality over quantity.
True. Im glad that the gap is not bigger but I see your point.

Im currently in the process of letting stockperformer crunch all my numbers to get a slight hint to where I stand compered to other contributors. I do it once a year (9 euro fee). But no one knows whats the data base.

Bottom line, Im in panic mode, January is Super slow compared to years of January numbers.

I am seeing very low numbers in SS P5 and AS.
With 11K clips, 7K photos and on full income for years but this January (half way) looks very low.

Cut the race to the bottom and set fixed prices for all contributors 4K, HD and web.

My only wish for the entire industry.

« on: September 24, 2019, 23:13 »
Yeah, but Shutterstock also gives you 150,200,300$ commission per download just as often as the 1.5 sales.

No one in the industry gives you 300$ per download.

Just curious: what kind of clip does it take to earn $150, $200, or $300 per download at SS?

Is it 4K? 8K? or something else???

I assume its 4K
I wish I could tell you that Im Gods gift to cinematography, but Im far from it, so I assume its just a matter of a client needing this specific clip for a large commercial use (by the commission size).

Thanks for your response.

Again, just for clarity are you the one who earned such sums for clips? Or have you heard of someone else earning such sums?

I find the inconsistency of income from similar kinds of assets to be really mind boggling.  :o

Im definitely the one that got them and hopefully keep getting them and wish the same if not more to you.
And yes, I also get 1.5$ per sales but Im good with them.

I always mention that Im a Huge fan of Shutterstock.

I'm a big Shutterstock fan too. :)

And I'm happy for your success with video there. I've just uploaded to SS 600+ videos, which literally have just gone live. So I hope to see some of those nice sales too. :)

Fantastic, I just passed the 10K clips mark.

I think the big drama is going to hit all the heavily invested production houses that pay for studios and models that until now submitted massive amounts of similars hoping that can now upload very few files of each setting.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

you are spot on ...their tactic most of time is producing similar content and uploading at different times so they can have more chance for a files to sell.

Dont get me wrong, if I go and shoot an aerial of a lake, I will shoot north/south/east west motions at zero altitude and at lets say 100 feet high and out of these 8 files Ill submit 5 or 6.
Until now it worked good and I honestly think that they have a different look. I think I play fair but if SS will make me feel that this is not ok Ill reduce it till I hit the sweet spot.
But...except for the net time of shooting and editing these similars (I honestly think they are not) Im not taking a big hit.

I also believe in slow release of files, not as a way to push them in but as an actual slow release into the market and give them a chance to pop at different times.

Im a mega huge supporter of SS, Ill respect and adjust to the new similar guidelines, I think its for the benefit of most contributors.

SS sells like crazy and I will serve them as long as they exist.

Yesterday, i had the same problem
I tried to add ; as separator to the last keyword

Surprisingly the whole string was divided in the correct keywords
Made my day! Thank you.
