I recently noticed that Fotolia presets the country-field during submission to be my home country.
Is that supposed to be the country the image is coming from or the country the image will be sold in?

Can't find anywhere what this country-field actually means. My keywords are in English of course.

If that's the country my image will be sold in, I better not be a citizen of Liechtenstein :D

Veer / Re: review time
« on: March 14, 2014, 15:50 »
Found into here by investigating their review times because I tried to apply few weeks ago. All sounds very familiar to me ;)

My 10 application images are pending for over 2 weeks now. I contacted their customer service via live chat to ask if they even received my application. They redirected me to an email address that is not reachable. I contacted them again, they copy pasted the same sentence referring me to the same address. I told them it doesn't work, they told me the server might be down due to lots of messages (what could possibly be the reason for that?  ;) ) and that I should try later. I tried later and the only thing that happened was filling my Inbox with "Message delivery failed - this recipient doesn't exist" - Messages.

By now it seems to me their service is not scalable and they are spending more time on manually managing everything than with proper reviewing, growing or investing more wisely.

Other scenarios I can think about ;)
- admin quit his job, email server got full and everyone went home
- they asked Sarah Palin to automatize their submission system
- they asked the submission system to automatize itself

Thanks for all the responses guys :) Seems like DP has pretty much decreased in value for me.

you can use UNLIMITED copies of  an image (...) I saw one of my images get published in a newspaper (circulation=700,000) and only got paid $.31
That is very good to know. It's exactly the kind of thing I (or anyone else) wants to avoid. Thanks :)

Also putting down others work as lower quality and claiming some conspiracy of random bulling, is in poor taste and unnecessary.
It was not my intention to put down any artist although I see how you could have interpreted me like this. I just entered "abstract background" into the search box in order to see if my work looks like sh** in comparison to what other people put there and it didn't. About the conspiracy thing, yes, I might have gone a little too far with that. I took the rejection too personally.

But the question is, what did they refuse? The Illustrations? It would be hard to say a background or abstract doesn't have market potential? Someone might want a shape or colorful background? Too simple could be a reason? I don't know.
You have a point there. Simple illustrations often sell better for me, so I was giving them my best sellers. Might have been the root cause.

I think I'm going to apply once more but I will give them some very detailed and complex images this time. I still have hope of not being toast.
Also, I decided not to put my best selling images to DP, because of the licensing and because they don't want them anyway.

Meanwhile I should follow Goofy's advice and chill a little bit outside instead of worrying about nothing.

Why would they reject? Everyone says that they are quite willing and accept almost everything. Well, clearly not the case for me. Will try again, but wondering still. Especially after successfully selling on shutterstock (I love shutterstock btw.). Almost sounds to me like they pick some random people to bully them and make them write posts like that, in order to fake how strict they are. I see a lot of artists there who are much lower quality than me and I also see people from shutterstock submitting similar images to mine.

Anyone had the same problem? Should I even bother? I have lots of illustrations and I wanted to put them up there.

Since I don't use adobe for my illustrations (inkscape together with other secret tools is enough for me and it doesn't cost a dime), I was wondering which agencies would allow to upload my svg files without asking for eps10. This could make some nice amount of additional money since vectors are very much looked for and some of my illustrations either are vectors or can easily be made into ones.

I'm curious. What are your best svg earners if any exist?

Hmm...

Already registered on canstock and got accepted few days ago :) Not uploaded much yet.
GLStock seems not to advertise their commissions very much on their website plus they currently seem not to accept any new applications.
And any opinion on the licensing options they have? How much images does one need to have there to make any recognizable amount of money with pure illustrations?

Toonvectors are for vectors only as far I could see on their page. I currently don't pay attention to compatibility of my vectors and I don't use adobe products
(although I probably will make some adobe compatible vectors available in the future)

I recently registered to the top 10 agencies and started submitting my illustrations.
Now I'm thinking about adding some of the low earners to my list of agencies.
However it's only worth the hassle, if they don't sell my content too cheaply and if they are specific to what I have to offer.
If they are adapted/specialized to my content, it might still be worth it.

So I'm looking for the biggest/best agencies specifically adapted to my illustrations.

I attach some examples [24.03.2014 - attachment removed]

Anyone any advice?
