The problem is, new content is almost impossible to sell.
I think that their politics to accept everything to become the largest database in the world has led the to purposely hide the new content. Accepting everything means that they accept even sh*t. I've seen ports that are beyond any imagination, and I'm speaking of 100K+ ports that really should not even exist.
What do you do if the search engine shows such a shame? You make that the search only shows popular and bestseller images. But how can a content become popular if it just does not exist when you search for it? The beginning of this disaster was in late 2016 and we're still paying those brilliant ideas.

I fully agree with you that accepting everything of course leads to rubbish. But basically ShutterStock started to destroy the industry in the first place, by making downloads so cheap. That leads to mass production and acceptation of everything. So quantity above quality. My problem with SS is that they were going for both: and quantity and quality and that does not go together. So that is an additional push back.

If you make chip downloads and mass production, than allow everything, because for photographers to make any revenue, they need you upload bunch of everything. If you do not do that, it will make the death of stock faster. It will otherwise dye anyway, just slower.

So, they are now finishing what they started when they appeared - take the market, take the money, destroy everything and run. But hopefully Adobe has seen what happens and still hold the line somehow, making the death of whole market a bit slower...

I haven't uploaded a photo in SS for a year... Of course, first reason is - 10c per photo is ridiculous, but the other reason is that, even with that small commision my photos get sometimes rejected... in iStockPhoto I still send photos sometimes, as they at least accept everything, and somehow I get better income from iStock, comparable with SS when they still had 38 cents.

I am still trying to find out why SS did that... Did they want to remove all small photo contributors from the site, or to earn something? I don't know. I guess only big contributors stayed there, but even then, they can not cover everything....

I think the least we can do is stop uploading there at all... if you have any self respect...

Probably I'll disable my account from 1st of June and fully concentrate on AdobeStock...
How can you concentrate on Adobe Stock, how it looks like? I send images to all agencies and concentrate on producing content. The only thing I can do is stop uploading to SS and deactivate images, I can't do much more for Adobe than I do now.

You can not do too much but disable your content on SS, what I meant is that Adobestock slowly starts to be the best option for me qua earnings, and there is no ridiculous 10 cent payment per download. Not yet...

I also still did't receive any code, I had already more than 320 at the beginning of December...

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Model release... only with an app?
« on: October 22, 2019, 03:47 »
I've always had problems with iStock releases. Now they refuse them because "date on photo EXIF does not match date on release".

How can that be - there is no Date in my EXIF - I remove it always before I send the photo??? Probably they are looking at "modified date" of the file itself, and of course that is not the same date as when the photo is made...

So that is why I stopped sending them photos with people, it is not worth all the hassle.

I got rejected for "File transfer error", and repeatedly so. Finally I got 3 images somehow transferred ok, after one(!) minute all 3 rejected for Focus issues... And a few days before the similar images accepted, no any focus problem whatsoever.

So something really bad is happening there...

9
I'm still uploading there because I have made upload process so easy - just one click at checkbox and it goes... But I'm thinking if it is even worth effort of that click...

10
This was really nice initiative, hopefully it continues to this year as well  8)

I have some images from October 2018... I thought something is incomplete in them, but looks like something is incomplete in 123rf review process  ;D who cares anyway...

12
So I guess no any action is expected from our side when we reach #300, like sending them an e-mail or so? I reached it like a week ago...

13
Maybe a stupid question... where can you see how many files you've uploaded this year?

If you click on one image from your portfolio you can see the date when it is accepted. Every screen has 100 images, so it is easy to scroll the screens...

14
I finally managed to get 300 photos accepted this year!

It was good thing to increase productivity, but just I was wondering it the giveaway is still valid...

Yes, it is.

Thanx Mat,
Just one question, I'm already subscriber for the photoshop & lightroom, how is the new code (when/if I get one) gonna work?

FTP also does not work... or at least it I'm getting '530 Login incorrect.'

I would understand if they needed different MR's for different photo sessions, but this is just rubbish.
I have the same person, in the same environment, just different pose, same day, same time, and why then they need different release?
I have all rejected because of that again...

The other question is - do they check if we used the same release before current submission?
Or just if we used the same MR in the current one?

You cant upload more than 100 photos in your application...

Are you not uploading elsewhere?

I am but I dont understand what this has to do with my stocksy application?

Ask yourself how they would know if you can upload good work week after week month on month without assessing that over a 3-4 month period.  They need to know that new members are going to be productive, or else they have to do the whole thing again.

If this is true, why didn't they say it? Do we need to look in this forum posts to find that out? Second, why would we spend time uploading and go through their painful keywording process when we still don't know if we are accepted?

Also, I have like 100 pics already prepared, so I can upload them all with some pace like 10 per week, so I should qualify by your standards. But, does that mean that I will do the same if I'm accepted?

The other thing is: If they need so much "social presence", then the photographers that they are looking for should be pretty much visible. If they need only like 10 photographers who are socially active, they are easily spotted without any "call for artists".

It just does not make any sense and all that shows lack of respect to photographers.

Actually I don't understand their call for artists, why are they doing it, when 99.9% of the photographers are going to be rejected?
I believe that their "call for artists" is made only for making the people believe that their content is something really extraordinary, giving them aura of being something special, or out of this world. I can not find out any other reason except spreading the story among photographers about their magic.

Because, if they need only like 10 photographers, they could have found them without any call for artists. They cold have simply sent them an email, without all this fuss. And this is absolutely not fair that people are left waiting 3 months without any answer.

I also get constantly rejected for model release, the same that I used before... The only thing that is different is the data of signatures, it is not the same. Does it need to be official SS model release?

I did try one year with awesome account or something similar, and realized that you get only view at your statistics - who liked your photos and frequency of views and comments, etc - something that I even don't want to see. You also get web site, but you get it also with your adobe subscription.

Everything else you get with free account, so it was easy decision for me, to step out. Selling photos does not depend on type of account.

Anyway, a few weeks ago I got one sale and earned something like 45 cents, so I immediately opted out of partner sales, and I will remove my photos from marketplace as well and keep low resolution files only, just I'm too lazy to even look there.

What does actually mean "social presence"? Does it have to be instagram? For example I'm much more active in facebook for example, but if instagram is a must that it is equal to not socially priesent for me...

Thanks Sean... I also don't see until when is the call for artists opened?

Jim, Indeed, being accepted would give some sense of purpose to all this...

About Stocksy exclusivity, I've seen Sean's message on series exclusivity, but I have another question - can the picture be removed from the other agencies and then offered to Stocksy, is then the image exclusive?

I developed my own Java program for automatic keywording and submiting images to stock agencies.

For keywording I used shutterstock site and JSoup HTTP requests for retrieving images and then choosing image from which you take the keywords. Basically I made my own browser with search field which only retrieves the thumbnails.

For sending them to agencies - you can use FTP service, very easy to program and all the agencies have FTP server.
