Adobe Stock / Re: Should I raise my EL prices?
« on: March 07, 2007, 06:59 »
Why not raise them for a month and see the difference?

Also if I were getting 2-3 El's per month per week from one site alone, at $45 a time, I wouldn't be wasting my time here, I would be out picking some new lenses!  ;)

Way to go Marcopolo  :)

It has been slow but steady for me; and I had my first EL there, so I am thankful for that  :)

Well I am glad that I am not alone then!! ;)

I have only been with CanStockPhoto a short while but am already amazed at the high number of views compared to the low sales I have received.

I am currently selling 1 picture per 271 views  :-[

Is it just me or are others experiencing this? Has this always been the case?

Anyone beat a 1/271 ratio?

SS payout for paypal is on the 15th March for February. This would have been confirmed by an email from them if your funds reached the minimum requirement of $75. This is also stated on their website.

Some of you talk as if you can't see new images at all, but the fact of the matter is that a buyer just has to change the default sort order to newest to view new images.

The question you might want to ask is "Why the 30% increase in profits when changing the default sort oder?"

Previously, a buyer viewed the newest images by default, and purchased less images.

Now, a buyer views the most sold images by default, and purchases more images.

I'm sure that most of you are arguing to change it back because you have been affected in a negative way (which is a selfish motive).

You can argue all you want from a personal perspective, but if it were my business I would keep it the way it is for a while.

This isn't about being selfish, StockManiac.
We are in this to maximise our sales and if the paradigm shifts to our detriment we have a right to voice our concerns!
As Steve from StockXpert said; they will be changing this default again as it is not viable as long term strategy.
I praise the team at StockXpert for testing out new models and listening to the concerns of their submitters! This commands loyalty as well as good business sense.

Thanks Steve  :)

So since new images are not getting viewed and sold whats the point of uploading? How will a site grow and market itself in the long run based on selling old images?

Their selling point will also be on attracting new and creative images to the site and to provide a constant source of creativity for designers.

Also, their 30% uplift in sales is great but, how much of this was due to their shift in search default and how much was based on prior marketing efforts based on the old default?

There needs to be a balance between marketing new and promoting best sellers, in my opinion.

My 2 cents worth

Great idea Tom - or at least if someone could post their spport e-mail address on here so that we can contact them ourselves and give them our regional location.

Still down for me! Over two days now >:(
Seems to be down in North Eastern USA, this would be a problem for buyers accessing the site as well. I hope StockXpert are aware of this!

General - Top Sites / Re: Feb earnings breakdown
« on: March 01, 2007, 07:39 »
Sales up month on month by 29% with a 78% increase in porfolio size.

           Jan     Feb
SS       66%   50%
StockXpert     13%     7%
IS         7%    14%
FT        5%      9%
DT        3%    14%
FP        4%      1%
BS        2%      3%
CanStockPhoto      1%      2%

ShutterStock was still top for me in sales, making half my total revenue.
Top performers were IStock, Dreamstime and Fotolia.
Worst were Stockxpert (due to search default change, since my portfolio is new) and FeaturePics, and well, forget CanStockPhoto (CantSellPhoto)  8)

Thanks Adelaide

I think sending a tracer through DOS is out of my 'techy' comfort zone, hopefully it will resolve itself soon  :)

Since they changed the default view to most popular from newest first, my new images weren't being viewed anyway, so hardly any sales at StockXpert, so I am not too worried.

Thanks again for the advice
