PhotoDune / Re: What a "nice" surprise
« on: February 07, 2017, 18:09 »
Lol, looks like their CEO will be searching for a new job quite soon. :D

Haha, not likely. PhotoDune was always their worst earner (and 3D), earning practically nothing compared to ThemeForest.

Well I have a feeling they are going to have hard times ahead. Still reading all the comments under their announcement is quite an entertaintment. ;)

I'm guessing they won't bother also begs the question of whether In will ever see my balance cash its only $10 but its MY $10

Yeah, I always wonder how many there are people with "only $10" - I mean for you it's $10, but they got thousands of ppl with "just 10". So they get quite much money for not paying such "small" sums... :/

Did you guys do anything to get the invitation back, or they simply go through all the portfolion and pick users they want? (A hell lot of a work, wonder if they will finish this year. :D)

They can do what they like. They have licensed their files for unlimited distribution from their site for a one off payment.
I don't get how any contributor is desperate enough to go for such a terrible deal, but that's what you get.

Anyway, try searching for a file on there. They have very little useful content. I just did a few more searches and it's worse than I thought.

Yeah, you're right, and also their database is not very impressive. Still it's kind od depressing to see such promotions...

Well I just got this add in proposed on my facebook feed. One year of unlimited download from graphicstock.

I'll just leave it here since I'm really out of ideas to comment that in civil way... Maybe I just got it wrong, but I don't think so.

/translation of the image attached/
Thanks to possibility of downloading unlimited number of graphics and photos you might save on a creative content.
GraphicStock provides 1 year of unlimited download.
You have access to over 300 000 high quality photos, graphics...

Photodune hates you! ;D

They are just crazy and kicked out contributors and disabled upload for all of us!

Rofl wuuuut? Well at least I don't feel that dumb anymore. ;) It's really kind of frustrating not to be able to find how to upload a simple photo lol. I must have missed their mails or something. What are they doing there anyway? I believe I need to update myself with the news...

PhotoDune / Upload button missing
« on: December 09, 2016, 07:08 »
Hi guys,

I feel kind of dumb asking for help, but I've asked Google and couldn't find an answer. 3 months ago I uploaded photos to Photodune and I have them in portfolio. I didn't use Photodune until now. I wanted to upload something but I simply don't see how. I understand the upload button should be in the dashboard section. Still my upload section looks like as in the screen attached. I uploaded a photo with ftp but nothing changed.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need another approval since I didn't use Photodune for a few months or something?

DepositPhotos / Re: DP got picky?
« on: November 25, 2016, 12:19 »
They paid up front for all the people who would sell out for a 25c prepaid. That was a collection of the biggest artists and desperate people. DP then changed all the rules, sold us under the table and cheated us through the back door. But some people stayed, because they are so desperate to work for the crooks.

That's why DP doesn't need more photos. They have enough and enough artists who will take any minimum slave wage working for them.

Rejected by DP is a compliment and a way to tell you, they aren't worth working for.

Can you elaborate? How did they cheated? I mean I know they don't pay much but it doesn't seem way less than other sites.

What do I think? I think I'm sick of these "xxx agency won't accept my photos" whining.

Nah, I'm not whining, just wondering. I mean SS might be picky (even though lately they're just opposite), IS might be picky, but honestly DP is a kind of strange...

As you can see in my graph, it dose not worth uploading pictures anymore on Dreamstime...

 :o

Yup, I stopped with Dreamstime some time ago. Not only the sales but also what pissed me off was their "no sales on the photo = going to free or you click it wont" policy.
-_-

Is it just me or DP got REALLY picky over some time now? Firstly it was low commercial value, and now I get tones of rejections based on "too many / similar" reason. Even though these are quite different photos and SS / FT accepts the whole batch. I mean DP isn't that good to be this kind of picky, is it...? What do you think? Anyone still uploading there?

You already answered.

Ah, a good one, sadly I guess you're right. ;/

Pond5 / Re: Files stuck in "processing"?
« on: November 23, 2016, 09:02 »
It's normal right now. Some ftp problems. Sometimes it takes a couple of days but they will show up. Just be patient.

Oh, ok, I remember long review times, but this is new. Thanks for answer! :)

Pond5 / Files stuck in "processing"?
« on: November 23, 2016, 04:47 »
Hi guys, just started using P5 after some time again aaaaand...

Is it normal on P5 to files being stuck for 10+ hours in "processing"? I've uloaded them yesterday through ftp and I wake up to have them being processed.
Also is there a way to batch edit files? I see the ticks on the left that you can check but it's always only one file being edited. ;/

General Stock Discussion / Re: Property release pain
« on: November 10, 2016, 13:15 »
I've generally gone the editorial route. I have one photo that's RF everywhere, but SS, which wouldn't let a public building photo through. I objected, and they got back to me a month later saying the architectural design was copyrighted. It's not; the building predates that possibility, but I didn't want to wait another month for a second reply! I put it up as editorial, although the 'original' photo has some extraneous stuff I removed from the RF version. Both sell, so I'm not complaining... ok, maybe a little.

Exactly my thought! I need to think about this editorial, though I mainly use SS, FT and DP. SS almost never accepts my editorials, FT doesn't have at all and DP mostly accepts building at all. (Even though they lately rejects dozens of photos based on my favourite rejection reason: low commercial  value. -_-)

One possibility with many agencies is to submit the image as editorial only, providing you can satisfy the other criteria for editorial.

Well this is an idea. :)

General Stock Discussion / Property release pain
« on: November 10, 2016, 04:15 »
Hi guys

recently (well maybe not that recently but still more than ever) all the agencies started to take property release very seriously. It's kind of pain in the ass since in many countries you can take photos of most of the building eg. public buildings, museums and so on. Also in most cases getting property release is simply impossible. Is there a way to deal with it or simply one can forget all the architectural photography as stock phtography?

Hi guys,

I just noticed my ftp stopped accepting my ftp fotolia password. Has something changed? Has anyone noticed same issue?

Halp? :)

Well they replied, they don't have the estimate but they are working very hard to get it back, so I guess we have a SS day off today. ;)

iStockPhoto.com / Re: istock interface language setting
« on: January 23, 2016, 11:19 »
Right up at the extreme top right of the screen is a dropdown 'Interational'.
They have changed it a bit, it used to be it gave you the list of languages supported, however, now there is a list of countries.
Note that if you live in, say, Spain, but want the language to be English, you have to lie to the interface and say you live in the UK or USA or whatever.
(Apparently, the countries thing is so that they can serve you 'geographically relevant' material.)

Oh gosh, true! Thanks! I would have hard time noticing it if you didn't say where to look.
So now I have good old English interface ok, but while matching the keywords with meaning the istock suggests it still mix languages so I can choose meaning in Polish, English or even Spanish. -_-

Guys, HALP please. I wasn't using istock for a while and now when I log in it keeps switching my inteface to my original language. I don't see the possibility to switch back to English anywhere. Also the keywords I'm trying to describe when uploading changes language - they're in all possible languages possible. It's madness to match when you have option in multiple languages. How to set this to English only? I never use any other language in keywording but English and I never will. :/

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 - average review time?
« on: January 17, 2016, 12:39 »
Well one reason might be they don't have money to hire more people and don't pay people who already works for them so ppl quit and the review time is longer and longer = bad situation. Other reason might be they signed contracts with ppl having huge photo databases and they need to process it. (Still in this situation I don't think they would bother reviewing them but I'm not sure how it works.)
Over the past three years pond5 has raising tendency so maybe it's just temporary. Still this temporary is quite long term. I wish they did any kind of statement on the situation because the situation is severe already and deteriorating quickly. :/
