I don't know if Shutterstock sales will ever be more than Adobestock's again.  Shutterstock's video sales decline has been horrible.

June and July were slow.

55
I compared the clip item # of a clip from January 2018 and January 2019.  2018 clip has 8 digits starting with 3.  2019 clip is 10 digits starting with 10.  That means 30x increase in number of clips on Shutterstock in 1 year.  Wow.

I don't know what happened to the industry.  Something changed.

Blur the logos on After Effects.

My photo is 1/10 of what I used to get.  Be happy youre only down to 1/5, lol.

1/10 comparing to when?

It's half the Adobestock video sales this month now.  1/3 the Pond5's video sales probably.  Since they started promoting their own contents under the Eighth Wonder name, our contents got pushed back on searches and sales started to fall drastically.  I have no hope on Shutterstock at this point to be honest.  Pond5 and Adobestock are our future.  Shutterstock's business model now is to create own contents by imitating top selling contents and keep 100% of sales to themselves.  This week's sale at Shutterstock is like 1/5 of last year's peak.  Horrible.

It's really unfortunate that anyone can sue you for pretty much any reason, and even if they have no case you're forced to hire an attorney and you lose money no matter what. I've been sued twice now, for completely un-stock-related things, and though neither case had any merit whatsoever it cost me more than $10,000 overall to defend myself against nonsense. It makes me really glad I don't own a gun.

Edited to add: My last attorney came right out and said that lawsuits are a form of "legal extortion" and nobody makes money but the attorneys.

I'm sorry to hear that.

So, everybody is opting out sensitive use?

I'll be closing the account sometime this year.  I'll give it a few more months.

This is the HIV portrayal case.  The model also sued Getty initially.

Horrible case here.

"I am being sued in federal court for hundreds of thousands of dollars by a model I worked with in January 2013. This is a model that I paid, and who signed a release allowing me to sell her images through stock photo agencies. Why I am I being sued? It revolves around images that got misused or were just outright stolen and the model is blaming me for it.

It seems that many of her pictures ended up on erotic book covers, escort ads, and strip club ads. To my understanding she is claiming I either sold these directly to these people or through Shutterstock. As for myself, I only sold her images through a stock agency with a terms of service that did not allow pornographic/defamatory use I have never sold an image of hers directly to someone."

Interesting case here model sued NY State for portraying her as HIV positive using Getty stock photo.

Does it give photographers legal protection if a model sues?

A few years ago, my model complained  to me when he (allegedly) saw himself on a sperm bank ad and threatened to talk to a lawyer to take action.  I didn't want any trouble.  So, I asked him to pay back the money I paid him and then took his images off.

He signed the Shutterstock model release of course.  Does he have any legal ground if he sued?  Does the Shutterstock model release cover sensitive use and give photographers legal right to opt in "Sensitive use"?

Do we have to tell models "You may end up on a sperm bank, Viagra and other sensitive Ads and may be portrayed as having sexually transmitted disease somewhere."?

Stay away.  Very hostile to contributors.  No respect.

69
I also watermark video clips with copyright claim if I give.

70
I only give HD version of video clips if I give some, not 4K.  They don't need it.  I don't give the full sized photos either.  4,000 pixels the longest is enough.

71
I dont any longer unless they specifically ask nicely.

Haha!  I know.  Some models act like they have the rights to claim video clips.

72
I used to give them, but stopped doing it because it's an extra work and don't want the clips to be exposed everywhere somehow.  Am I being stingy?

74
Is it just me?  It's like Sat and Sun.

75
Legally, model release should cover it, but I've heard instances of models complaining to Shutterstock and Shutterstock threatening contributors despite model signed the release.  Once models complain, we contributors can't win regardless of model release clearly signed by the models.
