Ok, I changed my password as well. Better be safe than sorry.

Well IP obviously. They don't need to know if it's you or your aunt in front of the computer, they don't even have to be sure what is happening, they just see something suspicious (two accs one IP) and that's enough for them. You did suspicious activity, they banned your for suspicious activity.

Same IP address, same postal address, or using the same computer IS NOT AND NEVER THE REASON. This is truly just a myth. In no where at Shutterstock's agreement stated you cannot use the same computer, same IP address, or same postal address to become a contributor. Me and my wife have been using the same computer/ip address/postal address for many many years to do our uploads for 6-10 different sites and there hasn't been a problem. The one thing we never share is our payment detail.

There must be OTHER REASON why their account got closed. Two contributors or more using the same IP address, same computer, and same postal address does not justify why Shutterstock need to close their account. It doesn't cheat, steal, or getting unfair advantage.

My biggest suspect is that these contributors who got their account banned together are most probably using the same artworks elements/photos in their portfolios.

This is nightmare for every contributors. Time and time again we heard things like this. I really hope Shutterstock can have a better way of dealing with such matter. I almost felt that they always suspend first before communicating with the contributors.

123RF / Re: 25/9 no sales?
« on: September 28, 2018, 02:20 »
I am having a 0 sale day on 25 Sept 2018 as well. In fact, I had another 0 day on 1 Sept 2018. I have been a contributor way back in 2011 and I never had a 0 day sale before this.

I am quite certain there's something wrong with 123rf on 25 Sept 2018 since there's quite a few of us having 0 sale on that day.

123rf need to address this claim to ensure confident in us.

I love Adobe. Truly.

Some amazing Spamfolios here:-

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/agiampiccolo?page=1&sort=newest&search_source=base_gallery&language=en

Appears to be 40,000 images of the same thing with only slight changes and mono/colour for each one.

I guess SS dont do rejections for similar any more!

This is beyond garbage, even worse than the Yoghurt man and Icon Warriors combined.

Why is it so hard to separate out subscription/od/el/sod? Why must they all jumble together in a long list? And why can't they sorted from oldest to newest.

Because it is easier to change from #000 to #FFF.

So, say if I choose the deeper term "kidnapped" instead of  using the original keyword "snatch", will my image still appears in the search result if a buyer searches for the keyword "snatch"?

135

Your 'snatch' example is even clearer, as it's extremely unlikely that someone looking for 'snatch' will be looking for both of these options.

Can you give examples of when you "don't find that the keyword term suggested is more relevant, if not worse than my original intention."

Here I am using the keyword "snatch" since the mother snatch away the tablet from her son. See jpeg attached for the illustration.

iStock deep term only gives the options of "kidnapping" and "snatch-weightlifting". In my case, both of these deep terms doesn't apply to my artwork at all. It doesn't make sense to use iStock deeper term.

Other than that, they keyword "snatch" can be used for robbery cases as well. See 2nd picture attach where the snatch thief snatch the woman handbag.

136
I have been contributor to iStock for many years now. One thing that troubling me and I failed to understand is the need choose a "deeper" iStock keyword term.

For example, if I put "woman" as keyword, it will suggest me to choose either
"one woman only" or "women".

Another example would be "snatch", it will suggest me to choose either
"kidnapping" or "snatch - weightlifting".

Even if I don't choose any of them and remain it as "woman" or "snatch", the said image will still appear in the search result by searching "woman" or "snatch".

So my question is, why do I bother to choose a "deeper" keyword term? Furthermore, I don't find that the keyword term suggested is more relevant, if not worse than my original intention.

Having a dilema.
I want to download a vector file from pixabay-free to use in any comercial way, modify it, add some content, and after that submit it to Shutterstock or istock as stock file.

Is this legal?

P.S. sorry for my grammar mistakes, I'm not a native English speaker.

110% illegal. Everything you want to do need to be 100% originally from yourself. The microstock industry is a very sensitive and a furious one. You thought you would get away, but eventually you will get caught.

Things that you thought are OK, but are actually not OK includes:
1. see a picture at Google, and you trace it. 100% illegal.
2. see someone have a good idea, copy it almost exactly (since u thought everybody is doing the same). 80% illegal.
3. modifying someone else artwork and upload. (110% illegal).

GLStock / Re: GL Stock Seriously??
« on: August 04, 2018, 03:41 »
I don't think GLstock lost appeal to customer because of site changes. I personally think GLstock's new management calculated the financial wrongly before they bought over from the founders. They must have thought it is easy to get back the investment, but in reality it is not.

To get customers, GLstock needs to spend a lot of money on marketing, which I don't think the new management is doing enough nor have money to do that. They are in a losing battle and only realized it after they took over.

Yes, just like every other person here, my sales have dropped to 0 every month since the takeover. This indicates the sale is really really bad at GLstock. If you are the owner now, you are in a big problem. I actually pity them, rather than angry at them.

The biggest loser is not us, but the current management. The biggest winner is the founders.

Canva / Re: Canva 15% tax withholding

Thanks for the answers. So, I suppose we just do our own accounting as 15% tax withheld  without the tax form as proof first and expect to receive it later.

Canva / Canva 15% tax withholding
« on: July 31, 2018, 03:19 »
I have a question about Canva 15% tax withholding.

US based microstock agencies (such as Shutterstock, Dreamstime, etc) will send us 1042-S Form every year to show how much tax withholding they took.

As for Canva which is based at Australia, they took 15% tax withholding of our total sales regardless of where the customers from. My question is whether Canva will send us any "1042-S Form" or similar kind every year to us? This is important for us who are filing tax in our country.

Yes, it is a VERY CONFUSING email.

I login to https://submit.shutterstock.com/legal/taxes/ and I can see my

Form W-8BEN  approved on 10/01/2018

So, do I still need to do anything? It didn't say expire or anything.

Shutterstock.com / Re: huge sales drop for new images

If I were to choose, I'll pick old images to sell better because we got more old images than new images. And yeah, our new images will become old anyways, someday.

So Canva removed 80% of my approved images and now they'll get tons of similar "unwanted" images through IS.
BAD BAD NEWS!

What? Can you elaborate what happened? How they just remove your images? This is scary.

This teaming with Getty news basically means bad news for contributor in Canva because there will be a lot more competition.

I suppose the sales made from iStock's portfolio will be reported at iStock? How much are we getting actually? I suspect it is lower than $0.35?

Has Canva already made payment for contributors? Is already 17th this month.

Canva / When is Canva payout every month?
« on: April 11, 2018, 10:37 »
I have already reach the payment threshold since last month, and I haven't been paid until today.
I wrote an email to Canva 5 days ago, and there's still no reply.
Does anyone know when is the payout every month?
Thanks.

Are your new submissions being reviewed, I have vectors from two weeks ago which are not reviewed.

Me too, they are not reviewed. It is so difficult to see what's happening and what's not in canva contributor consoles.

149
I think is stupid to close someone account just because they publish something sensitive. We are in the stock industry and we are providing something for user to describe something better.  When you publish a video depicting terrorist, that doesn't mean you are promoting terrorism.

I think there must be other reason beyond why they close your account.

GLStock / Re: GL Stock Seriously??

I still get some sales before they changed management. Now that they have change ownership, sales have plummeted to zero. They also fail to review the stuffs I uploaded for over a year.

Forget about this site, because there's nobody working there.
