This artwork is now selling at 26 ETH, which is equivalent to 46,367.88 USD.

https://opensea.io/assets/0xb47e3cd837ddf8e4c57f05d70ab865de6e193bbb/5323

It has transacted (change hand) a few times already.

Here's the whole ranking at OpenSea (the largest NFT marketplace).

https://opensea.io/rankings

Are we (microstock artist) too old to catch and understand this trend?

52
Wow, I just learnt about this NFT thing today. It is really exciting, but then there's a lot of questions about it.

I understand that we still own the copyright of our work even after we sell the NFT, but can we continue to sell the vector/photo in marketplace like Adobe Stock, Dreamstime, and etc...?

Hello, when will we be expecting to get the code for Adobe Illustrator?

« on: February 01, 2021, 19:33 »
Yes, they still owe me $50+. And they don't respond and won't pay up.
I have been requesting payout for half a year now at least, and also email them. No response.

55
Forgive us for not believing you.

If these vectors are generating so much revenue, why are they for sale?

He mentioned the portfolio earned $150k/year. He might be selling it for $1million. Hence, the sale.

56
Just do it. Don't listen to anybody here. They aren't any smarter than you.

General Stock Discussion / Re: I NEED YOUR HELP
« on: July 10, 2020, 06:02 »
In my personal opinion, the only way to attract customers is being even cheaper than what microstock agencies are offering. Or else, what is the reason for customers to become your customers when there's already tons of agencies out there? There is no rocket science here... price is the main factor... next is quality. But with that being said, 100% of the earnings should go to the artists. How can that be done? We need a different type of approach here.

Wow, thanks for the link. So, in future, we should just trim 1 keyword from the 50 keywords?

I have always been arranging the top 7-10 keywords but with a total of 50 keywords. So that means all my hard works have gone down to the drain?

And what if I go back and trim 1 keyword from all my previous images, will that help?

Great feature!
Can you please make cutting longer lists of keywords to 49, not 50. Because you explained in that video that only if there are 49 keywords the first ten will be more relevant. And if there are 50 keywords all fifty will have the same importance. This way I have to remove the 50th keyword manually by scrolling down the list. Because Adobe already automatically trims to 50 longer lists, can you just trim to 49 and save us extra work. Thank you!

What? Where is this thing about 49 and 50 keywords relevant thing? I never heard of this before.

Don't get demotivated by the people here. Too many ideas were shut down just because of a few honest, truth, and negative mindset. So my advise to you is to stay strong and brace through.

From my experience and research, I find that quality content or exclusive are not the main drive of sales. Traffic is the main drive. Even if your stuffs are lousy, you are still able to sell it like hot cake if you get enough traffics.

On another side note, I truly believe we need to lower our price to even lower than what the agencies are already selling. Only then we can have an advantage and good explanation to buyers of why they should buy here. But the commission rate must be 100% to contributors. If that can be done, then that's something.

61
I am a vector artist. I don't mind pay to upload.

Pay to upload will naturally filter out low-commercial-value assets which is a good thing.

However, the biggest problem is still getting customers. This part needs to be solved. All small agencies fail this part.

Hopefully you can improve your search engine too.

Example, both keywords should searchable regardless of which keyword buyer uses.
1. fix and fixing
2. exercise and exercising
3. icon and icons
4. color and colour
5. tyre and tire

Currently your search engine is really not as good as Shutterstock one.

If the site cost hundreds of thousands to setup, then no one will accept the 1 million dollar offer. The risk to reward ratio would be out of step with where else that money could go with much less risk. I realize some people don't think it will cost hundreds of thousands to setup a professional stock site. That is just my opinion.

Of course it does. Imagine hiring

Experienced IT Engineers x 2 ($2000 each)  = $4000
Experienced Web Designer = $1500
Office space = $500
Utilities = $200
Each month will cost at least $6200.
36 months = $223200 just for the company to keep running in 3 years without earning.

The above cost does not include cost of infrastructures like server/computer/furniture/first round marketing etc.

If I remembered correctly, Yuri Acrurs (https://peopleimages.com/) took him few hundreds thousands to build up. And the site is just for his own purpose only, which mean less complexity. We are not talking about using a Wordpress and a plug-in kind of thing here.

The $1million reward is not a lot of money for the founder if the site is a successful one in the future. For every successful site today, the reward for the founder is way way higher than that.

Project Giving
---------------

1. Setup a company. This company will sign an irrevocable agreement that the maximum it can earn per year is $1million USD. Extra earned money will be divided back to the contributors as dividend. So, the founder of this company is only meant to make a maximum of USD1million per year.

Just my idea. What do you guys think? Please criticize as much as possible so I can give up thinking about it :)

That's crazy. As a company you would NEVER EVER impose a rule like that. It doesn't make any sense. Then it would be a charity, a non-profit organization basically. With the commercial mission of the company in mind (selling microstock licenses), that's a practically unworkable situation. You have countless costs running a company, so a good financial buffer is important to make this company viable and financially healthy. Self-imposing a limit on the amount of revenue totally goes against that principle.

The irrevocable agreement will be the sacrifice one made for getting the contributors support, fund, and trust. And the founder (company) will still be making 1 Million USD every year, which is enough for many. The earning of 1 Million USD have already deducted all the operating cost and will only serve as the reward for the founders for making the company successful.

1. Setup a company. This company will sign an irrevocable agreement that the maximum it can earn per year is $1million USD. Extra earned money will be divided back to the contributors as dividend. So, the founder of this company is only meant to make a maximum of USD1million per year.

2. Raise $300k USD fund with Kickstarter to make the site and infrastructure ready in 6 months, with IT supports that can last at least 3 years.

3. Problem we are trying to solve:
3.1 Image spamming by low quality contributors
3.2 Only high commercial quality content uploaded
3.3 Earning too low
3.4 Acceptance rate of 100%
3.5 Theft
3.6 Professional IT backing
3.7 Company bullying contributors
3.8 Self hosting technical difficulties.
3.9 Marketing

4. Features
- Contributor set own price [solve problem 3.3]
- 100% of earning goes back to contributor [solve problem 3.3]
- Company earn money by selling storage and IT support to contributor. Example: 1000 assets will cost $50/year. [solve problem 3.1 and 3.2 since uploading now requires money]
- Chatting system so buyer can chat with contributor directly. This cuts away Company's cost to support customers.
- Theft (contributor will police each other by reporting to Company. Company will take action) [solve 3.5]
- A company with professional full time IT employees [solve 3.6]
- Irrevocable agreement of maximum USD 1million earning/year by Company [solve 3.7]
- No reviewers as contributor uploads whatever they want [but being monitored by other contributors for abuse]
- Money paid by customers goes directly to Contributor PayPal account. Company is not a middle man.

3. Early birds donators will received perks for helping the project in this early stage. For example, early birds donators only need to pay $25/year for 1000 assets.

4. Marketing will requires a lot of money. So, contributors or other "investors" can donate to a pool of money. The pool of money will be used to do marketing by the Company. Earnings converted by these marketing will be shared among these "investors". This needs to be worked out as it can be very complex, but that's the idea.

5. This project will not disrupt the entire microstock agencies, but will serve as a safe heaven to artist around the world.

Just my idea. What do you guys think? Please criticize as much as possible so I can give up thinking about it :)

How much funding did Symbiostock got before the project collapsed? How did it failed? Can anybody brief us the history of Symbiostock?

Dear Mat Hayward of Adobe Stock,

Can you explain the step by step guide on how to create an affiliate link to direct customer to my portfolio at Adobe Stock?

I have registered and have successfully verified my site through https://www.adobe.com/affiliates.html

However, now that I am inside the affiliate consoles, I cannot find what to do and how to do it. It is very complex compares to other referral/affiliate program.

All I need is an affiliate link to direct customers from my website to my portfolio at Adobe Stock.

Please help.

Hi Charlene,

The affiliation program you referenced is not geared towards individual portfolios but rather a referral program for Adobe Stock in general.

All the comments about exclusivity have been noted. As you know, we do not offer an exclusivity program at this time. If I hear of any plans to change that moving forward I will be sure to update you asap.

Stay safe,

Mat Hayward

Thanks for replying, Mat. I think it is truly important for Adobe Stock to have referral link just like other microstock sites that point to individual portfolio. Currently, we need to register as an affiliate on another site of Adobe, and we not have direct access to our personal special link at our Contributor console. This is hassle and complex.

Adobe Stock / Re: Lower than minimal payment from Adobestock
« on: June 02, 2020, 03:58 »
I had received this 0.25 cent download from time to time on Adobe Stock but today when i check on the earning system only to realize it is lower than the minimal payment of 0.33 cents.

Has anyone received a 25 cents subscription download from Adobe Stock before?

The calculation and display on Adobe Stock page is a little different because that 0.25 have already deducted Tax Withholding. In Shutterstock, the money we received and shown have not deduct any tax withholding yet. So for $0.10, you are actually receiving $0.07 after Tax Withholding deduction if the income from US buyers.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Dreamstime increasing royalties
« on: May 29, 2020, 20:31 »
Anyone with a website should start linking to Dreamstime. Let's give them our support.
Come to think of it, Dreamstime has been the fairest agencies so far. I can't remember they ever decrease our commission or playing tricks with affiliates.

You are making the assumption that Adobe would not follow along at some point.

Adobe may not cut our royalty as the main income of Adobe is from its softwares subscription. So far, Adobe offered many good stuffs for us (increase royalty and free Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator next year).

But... who knows?

« on: May 13, 2020, 04:29 »
yep, I got it from tax center (your last link)

only waiting for adobestock "letter" and I'm waiting for too long now.

Does Adobe actually gives us any "letter"? Since Fotolia time, there wasn't any letter or anything at all. Every year, I used the Statistic Page to show me the Total Tax Withholding from 1st Jan to 31st Dec everytime and screenshot it as a proof for my government.

Just got the answer from 123rf.
Looks like there is a typo error at the page https://www.123rf.com/tax/index.php
While it is still stating there as 2018, the PDF form that you can download is actually a 2019 one.
Hope this help you guys out there who is trying to find the 2019 tax withholding form.
