I will not delete, but i stopped uploading to SS. There is not return for me. Same as i stopped istock a long time ago.
If i would continue there, i would feel bad every single day while working. No thx.
AS, 123rf and some others to continue.

You don't have to actually delete, as of now, you can disable your portfolio even temporarily in your account settings

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock just became iStock 2.0

Just a small suggestion...
I've seen rants appearing under their Facebook post, which is good. But probably they will start cleaning up, and banning users. So maybe when a post from is already full of complaints in a very visible way, you should hold back on adding more to that one, so if they start paning prosting users from their Facebook page there will be still some of us left to keep the rants appearing under new posts they share!

103
Also editorial is a really important thing in the video world. I have a lot of footage of aviation, or cargo container port operation in Rotterdam, general freight trransportation, which are popular things that mostly only work as editorial

104
yep already disabled sales yesterday, seems to work no new sales and normally get 15 -20 per day

Where can we disable sales without close account or delete images?  ??? :-[

In your Account Settings

105
Seems like we can't trust Shutterstock anymore..
Adobe still has fair commissions (at least compared to the new SS nonsense)

106
If i remember well, last time there was an outrage against an agency (i think it was Depositphotos) Stocksubmitter had a pop-up window informing contributors about situation and the protest. I think there was also a tool to make disabling files easier (that part may not be needed for Shutterstock, disabling is really easy)
So organizing a protest i think we should get the Stocksubmitter guy onboard. I believe there are a lot of Russian-speaking users of it who don't read English forums

General Stock Discussion / Re: AdobeStock shutdown ??
« on: May 05, 2020, 05:27 »
For me it's back now.

But i'm really missing the long term annual statistics!

108
Just published my comprehensive 2019 year-end review, featuring all my stock photography / videography earnings:

Brutally Honest Alex

Sometimes i'm surprised how much different people's experience can be regarding tendencies between different agencies, and different times.

For example i've seen that October was the worst month for you. For me it was clearly the best month of the year, actually an all time BME (uploading Stock since 2006)

Shutterstock.com / 0.26 sales on Shutterstock??!!
« on: December 27, 2019, 06:29 »
Today i've got a bunch of sales with $0.26 commission. Is anybody aware what they are? I don't remember getting anything less than $0.38 since 2008!

kind of unacceptable? do you think in one year you will sell video for 20 dollar=? you will be luck if video still sell for  5 dollar.

Things don't have to go that way so fast.

We can always choose to not contribute to these sites.

On Shutterstock video sales are clearly on the rise in 2019, and although the occasional 1.50USD video sales are a bit annoying, the overall RPD for video is very good. Just recently one video sale gave me 225USD. And it's not rare to get something between 90 and 150, even for videos only available in HD.

Videos are selling on Adobe as well and sales are yielding 27USD and upwards.

Pond5 sales got a hit this spring, but videos are still selling for good pricing.

Even Canstock has occasional video sales for 25USD each for HD

Pixtastock produces video sales as well giving 36USD for HD resolution

By the way, it would be great to have the option to start Stocksubmitter without internet connection. Sometimes i go to an offline environment for a while to be more productive with editing, but even in those periods it would be useful to manage some of my keywords, or search my image library by metadata.

You can do that by launching App/StockSubmitter.exe from the program folder directly, logging in as a guest and refusing to update.

Thanks, I will try that!

GLStock / Re: GLStock does not pay ?

i've requested payout. Nothing happened, just the "Request payout" button disappeared. Is that normal?  Should i just wait?

It's about sharing.  PODs have been doing it for a good while, if you don't share you don't earn.

I told you so :)

Update #5: A clickable website link for another portfolio
I'm curious how much would they like it if it would be a link to my portfolio on some other stock site :D

@Desintegrator

Thank you for the information, I will try to reproduce the issue.

As of those errors when you close the program - it seems to be an issue inside the .NET Core and apparently they still didn't fix it even with the latest 3.1 update. It's pure cosmetic though and can be ignored safely.

Thanks
In the meanwhile a made a workaround for the issue. I used Autohotkey the set the combination Alt+Q (which is much more comfortable for left hand when my right hand is on the mouse) for a macro that first saves the data by sending a Ctrl+S input then opens the search.

117
Ok, the metadata loosing problem is more general and easy to reproduce than i thought.

Basically when I'm editing the metadata of a file and press Ctrl+F to make a search, the unsaved changes to the metadata get lost. It had caused me a lot a pain. Every time I forget to click on another thumbnail (looks like that saves changes automatically) before pressing Ctrl+F I loose the whole list of keywords i've just written, which can be several minutes of work

118
It did. Thank you for the quick response!

There is another long ongoing issue, but it wasn't as bad so i didn't start a thread about it. It started some time in the first half of 2019, when there was an update for new version that had to be downloaded manually for the website. I think it was the time when the program became for Windows 7+ only.

Since then every time I close the program there's this error message two times. So two clicks to exit them.

Also there is bug in the user interface that many times makes me loose metadata. I will get back with the desription of this problem a bit later, I have to check out how to exactly reproduce it

119
Hi!

This morning launched Stocksubmitter. It detected an update, took unusually long, it showed that it found 497 differences to update.

After the update I only get this error message.

Now this error appears even before the program would start downloading new updates.

General Stock Discussion / Re: pond5 pricing question
« on: November 21, 2019, 09:55 »
Is there a way of changing the prices of all of my files on pond5, in one go rather than having to do each one individually?
TIA
S 8)

you can do 400 or 800 at a time on the Uploads page if you set the number of files displayed on one page

121
Yep, time to delete...

Only Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Pond5, VimeoStock and Pixta have decent prices for video. If you contribute to other places, you're basically shooting yourself in the foot, because footage buyers do shop around, and agencies do price match to your lowest price.  ::)

True.
Just check things sometimes as a few month ago there was that case when Pond5 decreased the price on lots a of videos without noticing us

122
I keep getting $21 sales for 4k video downloads which is kind of unacceptable.
Is that their normal amuont for 4K?  Maybe it's time to reconsider if we should submit footage there...

General - Top Sites / Re: 4096 x 2160p vs 3840x2160
« on: November 18, 2019, 14:35 »
Also noticed that 4096*2160 is downsized to 2047*2160 instead of 2048.
Couldn't that deter buyers? It's strange to have an odd-numbered dimension. I don't if such problems exist today, but around 15 years ago when I first had to deal with video codecs and such there were some codecs and some editing software where the dimensions of the clips had to be divisible by 8. (which basically every standard video resolution is)

I've just realized the HD downsampled versions of 4K clips are offered with very small file sizes Shutterstock.
A 10second clip is 8 Megabytes. That's around 6mbit/s bitrate.

Where do you see that? I see from around 25-80 mbit/sec depending on the content.

100 mbit for HD is good, but in reality, NEAR perfect quality can be obtained with 100 mbit for 4k, which most smaller cameras film with (GH4/GH5 100/150 mbit) and that 4k quality is quite pristine. No, not as good as a ProRes capture of course, but very good.

If i click on my older 4k clips, the HD version file size is around 100-200 Megabytes
On clips uploaded nowadays it's 8-10 Megabytes...

I understand the 100 mbit/s is not absolutely necessary for good quality HD, bzt 6 seems way too low

Ok, my very recently uploaded clips have bigger file sizes for HD versions again. Looks like there was a period recently when SS converted them really low. I have even a 18 second clip where the HD version is just 6.1 MB
