Minor bug:
For a long time I see unreasonable % values from time time on the progress bar of uploads. Some cases i'm really sure that the percentages just cannot be true. In some cases it even goes beyond 100% :)

Now I caught a screenshot of an obvious case of error.
One upload had been active to Videoblocks. I started the upload of a new file to all agencies. The Shutterstock upload started with a progress percentage of over 50% immediately. The FTP status window's progress bar shows that the upload is still at its very beginning.

Updated, it works, thanks!

BTW, Featurepics also supports editorial (not that it matters much, the site seems to be dead, they haven't reviewed my files since half a year and I earned 25 cents so far in 2017 with 11000 files online...)

I've been using a universal model release with no problem since 2007, but in the last half a year or so Shutterstock started to reject it most of the time. I've asked support about the problem and they just sent me a link to a page listing some release forms Shutterstock accepts.
That's fine, I just want to be sure to choose a release the all agencies accept (I submit to 15-20 of them..)

So what's your experience about model release forms, what do you use that are accepted universally?

I've enabled uploading of Editorial files to ScanStockPhoto in the new update.
Please try it out.

Thanks!  Some video uploads are active so I can only restart the application 1-2 days later

Editorial marked photos are not uploading to Scanstock now while the site accepts editorial shots.

Black skin is back, partially reworked.

Thanks!

I like this new colorful status bar under images. The eye have to get used to it, but it makes much more sense than just one status icon for every image.
Also I like the new function the error messages are not mixed among submission windows but grouped under the errors button. It would be even better without the blinking. Turning red and showing a number is enough alert in my opinion. Some times the same errors are repeating over and over again, and I don't want to open them all the time, as i know exactly what's there. But if i don't open them the blinking is distracting.

I would still very much like to see a function that when the focus is in the thumbnails area pressing letter key jumping to filenames starting with that letter. It would be even better if i could start to write more letters of the filename, just like in a Windows browser window.
I know that there is the working search function now, which I use a lot, but in many occasions this method would be much faster and simpler to find the file I want.

"55-65% for Credit Sales and 19-37% for Subscription Sales of the net sale price"

The net sale price being after any referrals have been paid out. "Revenue Shares are calculated based on net sales amounts after payment of referral fees". Although this bit sounds good...

"...provided Contributor is otherwise in compliance with the terms of this Agreement, Lifeographies will not seek repayment of any overpayments made to the Contributor."

But yes, would like to know the cost of a credit without having to sign up to find out. If it's 5 for a video and 10 for a high resolution image... and they do "images from 35c" then I'm assuming videos are pretty cheap. I don't mind cheap prices with high sales, or low sales with high prices... but not low sales with low prices.
Hi SpaceStockFootage,

It is true, you don't  have to login to see the prices, but for this there must be good will and not a superficial approach, which is somehow understandable considering the invasion of stock platforms that promise much and does less or nothing. The video price has never been 5usd, it is and has always been 25usd (easy to check).

If there are other questions, we are here to answer them.

Thanks for your reply.
Lifeographies Team.

25 USD is too cheap for videos. That's the average amount i earn on a HD video on other sites I contribute to.  If i can only get just the half of 25USD then i'm sure i won't contribute

What happened to the user interface?
Today I started the program and it looks much worse than yesterday's

I don't remember exactly but maybe the skin option I used is gone? I'm not sure, but wasn't there something like "Black"? I've always found only that one skin attractive.

You can try the Dark or Default skin, they are dark enough too.

Yes, but contrast is much lower, and buttons look flat.
It's still usable, but the older one was much better

We will consider adding some skin similar to Black.

Maybe i can get used to this "dark" one. My main problem is that the look of the buttons give me the feeling that they are disabled, grayed-out. Probably i can get over it over time..
It's just strange for me that the "Black" skin is the one what's gone as for me it always seemed that it was the one on a higher quality level, never understood the existence of the others.
Wasn't it the popular one?

How to log in to Pond5. This window with the login page comes up every 10 minutes... I select the street sign, numbers, mountains, whatever.. click Login, than the window disappears. Then pops back up in 10 minutes. Endlessly.

and only for the records

Prores 422 ----> PhotoJPEG ----> Mp4  (----> decrease of quality, file size, bit depth)

you can do a pixel by pixel comparsion, it should give you a result of the same as above, but it is not so relevant, cuz the problem in quality differences comes out when videos are i motion and you are looking at darker areas. try to export a photojpeg or prores video of some fire or low light scene in MP4 and you will see the horrible truth that the mp4 codec is not able to compress them well. you can enhance the compression with adding grain to the footage, so the darker areas will be compressed better, but photojpeg and prores is far better in this kind of a situation.

Also there is a problem with programs doing their export the different way. For example DaVinci Resolve exports shi**ty mp4 files, altough other file export is way faster than in media converter or premiere pro, and timeline editing is a bliss, also less noise and bending. (i did not use final cut so i do not know about it). best program is mpeg2 streamclip but it can hardly handle 4k, and has very few editing possibilities. the footage exported from mpeg2Streamlicp had the less artifacts and bending.

I started to export h264 from Premiere Pro because with photojpeg I got banding in the skies in many clips while h264 always looks fine. I use around 200mbps for 4K stock clips

March was fine.

But what happened this week on SS? Sales are literally cut to half of normal. It's really frightening. I'm contributing for 10 years and never seen such thing..

Cannot upload to Videoblocks for while.

I've chacked the site setting page, and i've found that there is no space to enter the FTP data anymore. What to do with it now?

Are you a video only contributor?

PhotoDune / Re: Anyone unworthy of Photodune yet?

Booted too.
60-ish on the list of top contributors.
It was fairly regular income, but still a low earner and stupid tax system, won't be missed much, one less site to deal with

Actually It's one of the most interesting footage portfolios I've ever seen.

I see this here:

I remember it being a very popular photo on SS many years ago... The "Author" listed here is zcool.com.cn

Some On Demands, one 4K video sale, so it's a nice start of the month for me. Not in terms of download numbers though.

How can you know that a video sale is 4K?   I don't see the size at video sales

It was a sale in the $50 range, so that can only be a 4K sale.

Is it for sure? I've had $150 sales on clips only available in 1080p

Last two weeks are awesome in number of sales. More like average in earnings as i haven't had a big $ sale for a while.

I'm still missing 70 images accepted yesterday. They had a few sales right after approval but now they are gone.
It is not the usual "file pending or not approved message" message. This time even the thumbnails disappeared from my portfolio.

Anyone else seeing a heap of problems?   Many images from the last two weeks just disappeared from my portfolio. Even the thumbnails. Meanwhile on the contributor page the counter is showing more or less the correct number of files.  When I click on images sometimes their page loads, other times not.
Looking my gallery newest firs the first page has only about half the number of photos than other pages.
Some new images appeared, had few sales, then disappeared.

Last week we had this earnings calculation problems, where Shutterstock accidentally told me that I had earned $99000 in a moment. Then it happened 4 more times in 2 days.

It's a total chaos.

I guess they can't handle the number of images they accept.
I was looking at some searches with newest first and i couldn't believe the amount of crap I see. I used to think that on average my photos are on the crappy side compared to other contributors but I had to change my mind. I've seen pile of pictures from barely different angles on the same subject, not processed properly, colorless landscapes with fully blown out clouds. Piles of photos that even a fully amateur vacation photographer should delete. All of them on Shutterstock.

I think no other major site has ever seemed so unprofessional with website falling apart.

It is worrying because Shutterstock is still the biggest earner.

Seems liuke I just had to complain a little bit. Today lots of sales giving 3.3 credit commissions :). Way to go!
