I just deleted all my top-selling popular photos on Alamy and left a few that I wouldn't be too upset if given away for free. Too bad it takes 180 days to have them removed.

Just keeps getting worse ... I'm thinking it may be time to remove my port from them. Not a huge earner anyway.

You got a critique from them? I think most people got a generic 1 sentence email.

It would have been nice to get some kind of feedback.

Your port is amazing! Very high quality work :) Cheers!

Congrats! I'm so happy for you. So glad someone from the forum got through.

Wishing you lots of success in the next couple of busy months :)

And still the doors are wide open for inexperienced amateur tripe to flood the place, and they have the audacity to whine in the forums asking why their 20 images havent sold
Is 20 images "flooding the place"?
If they ask for advice when they only have 20 images, and if they take the advice, they could go on to do well. We all had to start somewhere. (That's a general observation, not specific to SS)

Of course, we all did BUT my problem is with SS suddenly lowering the bar. Its like letting peo0le enter university that didnt pass their exams. And add all those small ports together and we have millions of images.  A few years ago they had standards and it took me about 3 or 4 attempts to get n with my best images.

Yes, this is my problem too with SS. They have no regard for quality anymore. Just a garbage pile with a few good gems to find in the rubble. Much of the new content is embarrassing to the company in my opinion (or just spam images).

I sometimes wonder if I am selling to a different SS than the rest of you whiners...?

1) I DO get rejections of submissions. Not a lot, but then I don't put up a lot of junk either.  My last batch of 126 images had 9 rejections today (all for "main subject not in focus" or "noise" -- a couple were a bit crunchy...).

2) I DO get sales on new images.  I uploaded a batch of Namibia photos last week of lions, elephants, and the like.  I had 21 sold from that batch just in the last 2 days.

3) My sales DO drop every summer. August is always bad for me. But then it roars back in September and is good the rest of the year.

4) I DO sell most of my portfolio.  Two months ago, I had 2500 images in my portfolio. According to MicroStokr Pro, 1729 of those images have had sales.  (I added another 1000+ in the last 2 months, as I went back and added stuff I had overlooked in my older stuff on my disk -- and yes, those are starting to sell too)

May I ask when you started? Are you in the .38 cent club?

So very sad what is happening to micro. Just falling apart to pieces...

134
So very sad to see a portfolio like that. I've passed the "angry" phase. I'm just numb over what SS has done to the company.

I think I may just stick with Adobe for a while. My new work is appreciated (and downloaded) there. There is no motivation to upload to SS anymore for me. Just a complete waste of time.

I closed my account with them last year. I knew it was coming. A long time ago they were a good money maker for me.

These $1.50 sales are killing my earnings. I think I'm just going to upload my new videos to Pond5.

Yeah they contacted me about a $2 EL. I'm opted out of EL's there. FT is great because I can set it at $100

Just awful awful!

My uploads have been light and this month is the worst since the second month after I started in 2013.

Yeah I agree! I only upload RM/RF nowadays but I have probably taken a 30% drop in microstock. Never mind!

Derek, what RM agencies do you recommend? ArcAngel is very very slow ...

For some reason POND5 is really quiet. Never seen it like this...

Good for you! I would "dribble" out your photos into the database. Sometimes there are very strange glitches and odd reviewers so I don't recommend uploading hundreds of photos all at once.

I think you will be okay with SS and Adobe :) Keep us posted!

Darn. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

General Stock Discussion / Anyone sell at Blend?
« on: July 05, 2018, 21:49 »
I'm trying to find a good rm agency. I'm really drawn into Blend (or SuperStock)

I read on this forum that you need to have "diverse/ethnic" images to get into Blend but I don't always see this in the search results.

Do they only want ethnic images?

I just joined Snapwire to submit images to the library (not the Requests).
https://www.snapwi.re/marketplace

Their marketplace has some great images but when I asked about Exclusivity this is what they said:
"We only require exclusivity for Premium photos which are manually chosen and tagged by our curators."

I then asked what if my image gets selected as premium and it is NOT exclusive ...
"You will be notified when a photo of yours become Premium. If you don't want the exclusivity, you may simply delete the photo from your portfolio and reupload. :)"

Does this seem a bit odd? I have to delete images if they get selected as premium and then upload them again. What if they get chosen again as premium? Seems like there should be an option to check if it is exclusive.

Lol. I remember a few years ago doing the math and thinking if I had x number of files online I'd be making $XXX,XXX per year. I could retire in my 50's and make more and more money every year and eventually be raking in millions annually in my 70's with the little illustrations I did at home.

We all found out the hard way that it doesn't work that way.

Good times for sure! Those were the days!

146
I haven't uploaded anything this year and every month it is around the same number for earnings. No more, not less. I'm too lazy to post a fancy graph. Not sure what conclusions you want to draw but for 5 months it is almost the exact same earnings per month with no new uploads.

There is just no incentive to upload new work because there is no opportunity to get "more of the pie" at this moment.

I don't really know where else to go with all my new work. I'm just kind of hoping a new kind of "stocksy" opens up. (Wishful thinking, this I know.)

I don't think they care one bit about contributors at this point. I wish there was an opt-out button.

Me too. LOVE P5. They treat me good...

Checked out your website, you have some nice photos! Question though - I thought pond5 was mainly video/focused on that with images as a side business... or do you sell videos there too?

I do video as well :) Only video sells there unfortunately.
