So if I understand correctly, they basically want unlimited freedom and sole discretion to adjust prices to ensure sales are made, even if it comes at the cost of the contributor's share/bottom line revenue.

I wouldn't be surprised if at some point commissions are reduced once more across the board 'to adapt to an ever-changing market and provide big and smaller content creators with their expressed need to access our entire collection at discounted price points' i.e. subscription penny sales.

Awful to punish Russian people and businesses simply because of their nationality. Plenty of Russians disagree with the war, but cancel culture seems to be normal nowadays.

In the Netherlands there are stories of Russian supermarkets being harassed, Russian children bullied at school, people on the street being yelled at because they 'look or sound Russian'. In fact, a woman from Moldova was scolded for speaking Romanian (which sounded Russian to the Dutchman who yelled at her). In their misguided anger, people have lost their minds.

I'm still getting downloads in Russia, this needs to be stopped.

I had two in Moscow today, they are breaking the sanctions on Putins Russia, this must stop.

Putin doesn't care. These sanctions are ineffective and only civilians and small/medium businesses are affected. It's a ridiculous instrument if the goal is to let the people stand up to the regime. Any protest against the regime is forcefully stopped by police and protesters are risking their own and their families lives for it. Yet the sanctions are not lifted the next day, and somehow western governments feel the need to keep punishing them?

Anyway, it simply worked again after a thorough cookie cleaning. Fortunately there was no hacking involved.

It could be they are making a preference based on today's reality, not what you could buy 8 years ago. And for the record, you have never 'owned' any software unless you wrote it yourself. You purchased a license to use it. A license that could be revoked at any time.

Owning the software as in, you could do a one-time purchase and own a physical copy on a CD, ready to install at any time.

When I was 'buying' the software, I paid far more than $120 for Lightroom and Photoshop and 'bought' updates at least every other year. This is much cheaper.

Maybe if you use only 2 products (in your case PS and Lightroom), it might be cheaper at $120/year. But for the record, I pay 600 EUR/year in my country for the All Apps plan.
Which is more expensive long term than any non-subscription Adobe CS package.

All of my files are on my hard drive. Nothing is in the cloud. Personally, I complete files as I go, but if I had 'project' files laying about, I would handle that before letting my subscription lapse.

I meant to say: if you can't use the software (because the subscription has ended), you cannot open your project files anymore. And if for some reason you had to cancel your subscription, but have to revisit an earlier project, you're screwed unless you restart your subscription.

How can anyone prefer a subscription model? Sure, you get continuous updates and "benefits", but:
- you pay more per year than for a single-purchase Adobe software package
- you don't own the software anymore
- if you stop paying, you cannot access your project files anymore unless you re-subscribe
- not all updates and extras are useful for everyone yet you still have to pay for it

There's literally no benefit compared to the old model for most freelancers, the only one benefiting from the subscription model is Adobe; they now have a continuous revenue stream (like many other corporations nowadays) and more profit.

I'm going to play the devil's advocate here: although as a Canva contributor I'd be happy if she decided to give some of her wealth back to us (if she's willing to share), what I sense most from this thread is jealousy and resentment towards 'the rich people'.

Even though we CHOSE to supply Canva with our work, so in essence, we voluntarily helped her build her fortune and we accepted the terms and conditions (i.e. the royalty structure) of Canva (or any other agency).
If you wanted to be rich, then perhaps you should have chosen a different profession, or created a Canva-like business 8 years ago. Most of us would likely have failed at it, but still, anyone is free to pursue any business idea they deem successful. 

So ask yourself, are you really angry at their lack of sharing wealth, or are you angry at yourself for not being as successful financially?
Some people here even try to have a go at Africa, which sounds like pure entitlement ("I deserve her charity more than Africa because we've been feeding them for over 50 years and look how far they got!")

Sadly the criteria for receiving the All Apps Plan has become insanely high since last year. It's not even something we can control ourselves (as opposed to Number of approved assets), since it's the agency's responsibility to sell our assets.

Does anyone have a screenshot of what these images were? Or a description?

The word 'stable' is completely irrelevant with these low numbers.

I've considered changing my approach a few years back. I always created stock I liked to create (while taking into account certain trends) but I could have gone the route of creating loads of high-demand, generic stuff that buyers are always looking for.

But where's the fun in being an image factory? I mean, if I wanted to make loads of money, I would've become a lawyer or a banker or some boring but well-paid job. Not graphic design. And certainly not microstock. But I strive to have a balance between having a fun job with some freedom on one hand and making money on the other.
Then again, I don't rely on microstock, it's just side income for me.
