What a horrible feature. Not the 'similar images' thing per se, but the placement is horrendous. At least place it at the bottom, below my description, name and lightboxes!

They contacted me as well. Offered a 5 digit number for my portfolio. It all sounded nice and all but after reading through their website I'm glad i didn't.

A 5 digit number for your entire portfolio? That sounds pretty cheap, depending on the size of your portfolio, although I wouldn't expect to make that much money on a new stock site.

GLStock / Re: Somebody get the crash cart - GL has flatlined!

I like GLStock, good commissions, easy uploading, pricing my own images and good acceptance ratio.

If only sales would pick up.

When did they change Best Match? I seem to be affected by it.

All in all, sales for August are pretty bad. I hope things pick up in September again.

So no one is up for it, mostly saying the same as I do, yet my post gets voted down and one post is actually now a great post?

Its clearly personal. I'll take the hint.

Stop worrying about those hearts or getting votes down, it's not like they're worth anything. But if it's any reassurance, I voted you up because I didn't think your post was bad.

Well, let's not forget that Shutterstock changed the referral reward rules by limiting the duration to 2 years maximum. It seems to me, that if they need to, they could just as easily squeeze money out of their contributors as any other agency.

Despite that issue, they treat contributor's pretty well. Also, their subscription model works pretty good, giving buyers an incentive to buy, even if they don't need the image directly. You get rewarded on a basis of lifetime earnings (more earnings = higher RPD) instead of a lame 12-month RC-system like iStock and 123RF.

A pay raise would be good, though.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Changes to Main Collection pricing
« on: July 27, 2013, 21:45 »
fotolia just lowered their pricing on inactive files to compete with iStock's Main collection pricing. You can now get files from fotolia at less than half the cost compared to iStock.

And so the race to the bottom begins.

interesting to see people publicly doubting the honesty of the numbers in the iS forum.

Yeah, I don't trust the numbers either. It's about 60% of April. Of course, it's July, but still, a massive difference.

It's Etsy, not Esty.

But yeah, image theft and copyright infringement are tough to deal with.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: I am impressed with TS ( I mean PP)
« on: July 22, 2013, 17:10 »
I am impressed with TS.

TS with 33 images gives me the same number of downloads per month as CanStockPhoto with 30 times more images.

Can you imagine if I uploaded my complete portfolio to IS, just to get them on TS.

Its so tempting.
By feeding the subs site you are making your images more available and thus decreasing the chance of selling on symbiostock.

In my experience, you're only increasing your exposure and audience. I never noticed any decrease in sales due to my images being available elsewhere. Some customers still buy the higher priced versions on one site, other customers buy the cheap subscription version on another site.

So they're going to wait for June to complete before fixing May? Holy mackerel, that will take another aeon.

Sent them a support ticket last nite to close my account, I'm done with them. I don't make that much anymore with them anyway. I used to cash out every month with them. I don't need the aggravation.

Well done. I wish I could afford to ditch them.

Secretly I'm hoping they will sink so deep they'll never recover from it. They don't deserve any better. If only another agency would take over the loss of income, besides Shutterstock...

I just activated it, but I don't think you will gain anything from it.

I have 'officially' filed a complaint against Lobo's abuse of power and against the ridiculous delay in PP payment. So tomorrow Lobo will lose his job, we will get our PP payment plus interest, iStock will file for bankruptcy as a result and the microstock world will live happily ever after.

Exactly how much right do they have to withhold our money for so long? When can we consider it a breach of contract and is there anything we can do about it in terms of legal action?

Still no money, unbelievable. This means I still can't cash out, so it'll be at least two weeks before I have my money.

Makes my ban for saying "We won't get our money before Monday, mark my words" even worse.

Got banned as I was a little annoyed that the PP sales came in so slowly, and Lobo couldn't handle my cynicism.

I simply posted: "We won't get our money before Monday, mark my words."

New Sites - General / Re: New photo agency
« on: July 13, 2013, 13:31 »
I understand that as a new agency, you're in need of stock images, but in order to attract customers it would be best if your homepage wouldn't desperately scream:

"Welcome to the photographers world
        We need stock images!!!"

Shows how bad they are at keeping promises. They don't give a rat's ass about the fact that people are actually counting on receiving their payments.

1898
So they now have 23,5 hours to complete PP payment, before cashout time is over.

1899
That's just sad. What the heck are they doing over there at the IT department? Do they continuously fiddle with their code, unintentionally breaking things?

This has nothing to do with floods or 'busy times' at iStock, this is just a totally incompetent IT department.

admin edit: changed the post to be more politically correct.
