MicrostockSubmitter / Re: Updates
« on: March 17, 2013, 11:14 »
Bigstock's submitting process seems screwed. It uploads the file, but without the data, and submitting doesn't work.

Edit: never mind, HTTP works fine :)

You must be getting to IS and SS by using a browser. The software you use to access the internet.
IE, Safari, Firefox etc.
I know some actions on IS don't always work if you are using a specific browser, it's worth trying to do the same action but by accessing the site through a different browser. If you only have one installed on your computer, just download another one.

He's talking about Stocksubmitter, not the browser login.

I mainly sell in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. More specifically, I sell in Zimbabwe, Germany, Turkey, China, Japan, New-Zealand, Chad, Pakistan, Mexico, Chile, Afghanistan Canada, Cape Verde, Hungary, Ireland, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Laos, Cambodja, Vietnam, Liechtenstein and Portugal. Occasionally in Qatar, Norway, Vatican City, Turkmenistan, Swaziland, Wales and Solomon Islands. But most of my images are sold in the Western Sahara, Antarctica, Easter Islands and the Bermuda Triangle.

Right now I'm looking into expanding my customer base to Mars and Jupiter.

New Sites - General / Re: Toon Vectors
« on: March 15, 2013, 00:24 »
Quick question: I noticed that the search returns only 500 hits. Since there are many similar looking files (black and white versions and color variations for instance), most files hardly get seen. Isn't there a way to show more results, or to sort the search on File Age, Number of Downloads, etc?

It happened to me too. It's just buggy. Since they switched to the new system, it simply doesn't work right anymore.

123RF / Horribly bad watermark
« on: March 10, 2013, 17:07 »
123RF, your watermark hardly protects our images. One small logo in the middle of the image is not enough, because in some cases, it doesn't even touch the image content.

Please consider extending you watermark to the corners of the image, or create some kind of repeating logo pattern.

Example of bad watermarking:

Well done to those who exposed the fraud of that Romanian studio. Although it surprised me people still wanted to believe this scam guy when he said he didn't know. Nothing more than some lame excuse and a "Ich habe es nicht gewusst" mentality.

General - Stock Video / Are 3D or VFX videos selling well?
« on: March 09, 2013, 20:07 »
I'm thinking of producing several abstract 3d and / or visual effects videos, but are these selling well compared to real life footage?

Crestock.com / Re: Crestock crazy rejection/acceptance
« on: March 09, 2013, 16:47 »
Same here. Images that get accepted at any other site, get rejected here because it 'doesn't meet current collection needs'.

They hardly sell anyway, so what makes them think they can be picky? It's laughable.

I'd suggest not going exclusive, but instead, upload to all top tier and mid tier sites.

VectorStock is -when uploading the normal way-, well, pure horror, but using StockSubmitter, you don't have to burden yourself with 380x400 resolution previews and stuff like that. It gets resized, zipped and submitted automatically by pressing literally one button. This goes for other sites requiring zipped files as well.

Get StockSubmitter, set it up, get familiar with it and optimize your keywording and uploading workflow. This will save you lots of time in the long run, especially for sites that have slow uploading via http.
I'm currently uploading to about 17 different sites, relatively easy.

Ah, I see. One of those cheap credits or discounted credits then. Thanks!

Dreamstime.com / Wrong commission?
« on: February 24, 2013, 09:53 »
I got a 'large' level 3 sale. Cost: 9 credits (2010), it earned me a commission of $3.15.

But the image level 3 window says:

Large size
(5MP - up to 8MP)    13 credits ~
as low as $10.01 per image

What is up with that? Is this the wrong commission or is this one of those 'we give away discounts out of the contributor's pocket'?

Adobe Stock / Re: Do old files sell on Fotolia?
« on: February 21, 2013, 20:05 »
I've noticed that my best-sellers are the ones that have sold before. The ones with 0 downloads hardly get noticed.
Example: one of my images has sold more than 50 times, even though it's not a particularly popular image elsewhere. The second-best image in my Fotolia portfolio has sold only 20 times, while the others were downloaded less than 10 times.

123RF / Re: Wrong Royalties - Check your stats
« on: February 13, 2013, 13:10 »
I just received $0.189 for an S size download. Is this normal? It's the lowest amount I've ever received for a small size download.

1992
How can you even tell how many downloads you get there over the past 12 months.  I'm not going to take the money and get an average.

I'll probably be on the lower tier anyway.

Image statistics, choose a custom time frame of the past 12 months using the calendar in the right top corner.

I don't give a rat's ass about Bigstock. I had less than 50 sales last year. The thing that worries me is that the trend is becoming too obvious. RC-like systems, unreachable levels, it's all spreading like a plague.

Thank you!

Shutterstock.com / Dollar price for 2 enhanced license downloads?
« on: February 07, 2013, 11:02 »
What is the price in dollars for Americans who want to download a "2 enhanced licenses" subscription? It only lists the prices in Euro's for me, which is 159. But I specifically need the dollar price.

Didn't we agree to a CONTRACT stating we would earn referral revenues for a lifetime?

Can they just breach the contract?

Not a big deal in terms of income loss (only have one referral), but I worry about the things to come.

I'll delete 3 files.

It's not much, but at least I did something.
