Dreamstime.com / Re: The Dreamstime levels system
« on: January 23, 2024, 14:53 »
This is like complaining about the quality of the food on the Titanic. Dreamstime is a sinking ship, the levels didn't mean much 5-10 years ago but certainly don't matter today, because the majority is sub sales anyway (not just on DT)...if you're lucky to get sales at all.

Besides the dishonesty and illegal use of images, what is up with these fake claims in the descriptions about how these books are helping and increasing quality of life for people with Alzheimer's or Down Syndrome? It's disgusting and misleading.

It all started when then CEO of Shutterstock Stan Pavlovsky, the embodiment of corporate greed, started screwing contributors with the new royalty schedule and levels and yearly resets.
Then he left the sinking ship. I'm still angry when I think of how he introduced that whole fiasco. And look at where we (they) are now. Surpassed by Adobe.

Congrats on reaching 10c per image!

I once left iStock because of their ridiculous video commissions and their total lack of distinction between HD and 4K prices. Not that other agencies are better lately. Especially SS has terrible ROI for video these days.

123RF / Re: 123rf maintenance
« on: December 14, 2023, 11:27 »
If no amendments are made by January 20, 2024, any content older than 30 days will be removed.

So they'll remove all older content of all contributors who do nothing?  Haha, I'm sure that is a typing error.  I think they mean :  If you opt out of AI keywording, all content WITHOUT METADATA will be removed after 30 days.

I had to read that 4 times to understand what they might have meant...

Got my final payment as well!

Dreamstime.com / Re: DT Milestone Contests
« on: December 03, 2023, 06:10 »
10,000,000 Isn't that Ten Million images? How can anyone get that? Dreamstime has been a disaster for me as I've no way of getting to the $100 threshold for payout.

No, they award a prize if your image is the x millonth image downloaded on DT.
They run this contest every 10 million images. So the 190,000,000th downloaded image gets a prize, the 200,000,000th image, and so on.

123RF / Re: 123RF sales stopped.
« on: November 29, 2023, 15:08 »
They are currently putting all their money on AI and promoting AI content, so expect your non-AI portfolios to lose more and more exposure.

123RF is desperately trying to stay relevant. They failed at selling our usual content in the past couple of years and now hope to regain market share by focusing on AI; the irony is that they'll struggle all the same because their competitors are also allowing AI content. They won't last.

Using AI you're not stealing from anyone in particular or infringing copyright. The results AI systems produce are unique, but based on what it learned from other sources. Similar to what someone could create from memory whilst being inspired by something they've seen.

You are so aware for the question of stealing or infringing copyright...  ::) You know what is a unique production...  ::) You also know what is of being inspired...  ::) No doubt that AI is a new way for you being creative and unique.  ::)

Your work is left (and you did many illustrations of it). Right, is the famous La Linea by Osvaldo Cavandoli.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Linea_(TV_series)

No comment.  ???

What is your problem? I never personally attacked anyone in my reply but you seem to have some problem with me for not calling AI 'stealing'.
On top of that, you felt the need to search my portfolio and accuse me of copyright infringement and mock my work, which is totally uncalled for.

For the record, I didn't steal this from La Linea, in fact I wasn't aware of this animated series when I made my first illustrations.

Is there any way we can see which of the nominated assets were picked for the free collection?

Edit: never mind, found it.
No.
But, if you search this free collection yourself using the tags of your videos, you might be able to find it.
 ;D

If you check the 'Eligible for free collection' option on your dashboard (set the filter to 'All'), you can see a 'FREE' label at the ones that have been selected by Adobe, I think.

What do you think about https://haveibeentrained.com/ tells your content scraped for AI?
Just heard about it today from 2 sources and at The INSANE Print On Demand News Nobody Is Talking About, 11:47 minute video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAN1SX9lUcM&list=WL&index=9&t=339s
by Wholesale Ted
Seriously: NOBODY talking about Midjourney's copyright lawsuit news, or how Zazzle has been sued for hundreds of millions of dollars!
I'm surprised so much of my content was scraped and I'm not a big player!
Sounds like more class action lawsuits of some resolve!?
I put in my most used by name in offering stock pics and vids and it found the most. Harder to find by main specific ideas so far

Video was interesting, thanks - although that guy/girl (why is it called "wholesale TED?") is a very wierd looking female...

Maybe you need to get prescription glasses, she is a woman named Sarah.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility? It's your responsibility to regularly check your email inbox (and spam folder) and keep track of your earnings from time to time. They mentioned it on their website, in an email and on this forum a month in advance. And now those who didn't request payment complain that 'I bet they're happy they get to keep the money" as if Canstock is trying to scam contributors.

41
I received $21 of Magic Creator payment, which isn't much, on top of already dwindling sales....It shows that Canva will shortly be one of the mid-tier agencies for me. Monthly earnings are now 30% of what they used to be 2 years ago.

Adobe Stock / Re: Text to vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator
« on: October 16, 2023, 10:59 »
Since vector graphics, illustrations and photos are already a microstock commodity due to the race to the bottom, I don't think this technological advancement is going to make things much worse than it already was for illustrators.

In the future, the term illustrator will be used very loosely; it won't be a mark of skill anymore, but applied to any "designer" using AI text prompts.

43
Sad to hear this, but our relationship with Adobe (or any other agency) was never a partnership to begin with. Not even an employee (who has benefits and employment laws to protect him). It's a completely one-sided agreement to deliver content in return for royalties, and contributors have to either suck up any policy change or decision from HQ, or leave the agency. To them, you're just an expendable asset, no matter how good your content or sales are.

All I can say is: never put your eggs in one basket.

44
I managed to get some sales last week too, I even actually passed the $50 treshold.

@Duncan: Thank you for making sure everyone gets paid their fair share.
It's been a good ride with Canstock; not many sales, but they were a fair agency, one of the few. Been with them since 2011. Sad to see them go.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Getty Images announces AI Generator
« on: September 28, 2023, 04:48 »
Eventually, in approximately two years, the client will enter the keywords they currently use in the search engine, and as a result, pages and pages of images automatically just created by AI will appear, just like it happens now with photos. However, this time, no contributor will receive anything; everything will stay in Getty's bank account. That's the plan. That's the future.

Yes and no. Even if AI improves to the point that everything can be replicated to near-perfection, there will always be a demand for 'authentic' real-life photos (of people) and man-made artwork. Editorial photography of real-life events or people will still be in demand as well. Only the most generic stuff (icons, banners, abstract backgrounds, textures, random landscapes) will be phased out and completely replaced by AI inputs from the buyer. Simply because authenticity and realism are not important for those categories.

The industry will definitely change and the low-hanging fruit/easy money opportunities will disappear, The best, most unique artists will probably adapt and survive.

46
Terrible and tasteless.
These depictions of a real-life, horrific event should definitely be removed and prohibited...It's still relatively recent to many people, at least for many survivors and victims' relatives.

Adobe really needs to start following its own guidelines, right now it looks bad on them and it also dilutes the collection.

I think AI-contributors should just stick to basic harmless themes or concepts, like, I don't know, holiday themed artwork? Like this one, Happy Haipphpwerean! ???

Adobe Stock / Re: Account blocked - another story
« on: September 22, 2023, 16:57 »
I think Adobe should immediately cease all AI intake. It produces unsellable garbage and worse, it's accepted without inspection and it's diluting the asset collection.

And now contributors are punished for Adobe's own ridiculous AI policy. What a shame.

BTW I guess some customers might be going to spend remaining money by buying images, so we may see an increase in sales :)

Yes, I hope it'll add some more dolars to my balance before I request payment.

"For contributors, to request a final payment, contributors must log on to their Convert Earnings page and enter their payment information. Payments of $5 USD or more will be processed for account balances as of October 1st, for eligible accounts, who have submitted a request. Payments may take several months, but we anticipate they will be sent by December 31, 2023. The deadline to submit your payment request is September 30th."

I'm glad they'll process final payment requests, at least we'll get paid by the end of the year.

123RF / Re: 123RF sales stopped.
« on: August 25, 2023, 05:00 »
I remember one time a while ago (some time after 2015 but before 2020) trying to figure out how many pics I had at 123RF and only about half of them showed up in search. I think they fixed that eventually, but really ever since they promised a doubling of sales (when they cut our take significantly) they have just been going downhill. They are a shadow of their former self, and I should probably just figure out how to delete my port and close it.

Don't even get me started on their pathetic contributor portal - so many problems with it.

They noticed a drop in sales, cut our commissions to stay afloat and then sales dwindled even further. They'll never recover from this: too much competition and 123RF has nothing unique to offer to customers.
