If my father can take the time to speak to both employees and customers as well as run a complex global company with 10,000 employees and $3.1 billion in revenue.

What are you doing here? Playing at "the photographer"? It's better for you and for 10,000 employees that you stop playing with images and think about your real life...
I leave that up to my 5 older brothers, who are a chip off the block. My journey is elsewhere and while I respect my father and brothers, I march to another tune. The biz, is not what floats my boat.

sorry gbalex for the rudeness my post was provocative...but to say that your sounded a little bit like a "show-off"
Going back to peacefull tones what i think is that every company has it's own and different managment. A web-based company, like SS, cannot be matched to a traditional company (i guess like the one that your father runs)...exactly for what you were saying, speaking directly with one person is not like reading forum...managment can't make statements nor changements from 2 or 3 bad post written in few minutes from unhappy contributors

Jodie is right...

Business people/office life/business concept are selling more than anyother stuff...so with this kind of image maybe 200-300 image you'll reach 100$/month
If you shoot isolated objects (which is faster and easier) maybe you need 1000/1500 images

Hello everyone
i wanted, as a newbie, ask this question:
Where (in the world) stock pictures are more used?

i don't know if it a proper question but i just wanted to know, according to your experience, if is asia, europe or americas.

I make this question because i've noticed that (i'm from italy-europe) almost everyday my IS and SS balance are freezed during the morning, while balance is going up everyday in in the evening...so i'm guessing (also according to SS sales map) that in the americas stock photos are used more frequently than in europe or asia.
I think this is important so is possible to select to shoot and upload something more "sellable"...i mean i'm not going to shoot pasta and pizza if yankees are not gonna download that :D i'm wrong?

shutterstock is still accepting everything that is shooted properly....this is the one and only irrefutable truth....if you still getting many rejections pay more attention while shooting

General Stock Discussion / Re: standards at IS
« on: July 23, 2014, 08:43 »
IS still is my best perfmorming agency...if i look at parameter porftolio/incomes(%) i get more money from IS than SS....if you look the portfolio there are many VERY BAD images in IS portfolio also from the past...yes they are accepting almost everything but when i look around images in IS i find many very bad images also dated 2007/2008/2009/2010....when IS was class microstock agency.

normal for me  ;)

Adobe Stock / Re: Payment after closing account
« on: July 17, 2014, 04:55 »
what i was trying to say is: you asked and they have answered "yes"....but if you know microstock assistance you should be aware of their "superficiality" and "rudeness" and know that you should not trust 100% them...i know this is not right but is reality  :P

So my question, did you had really a necessity to shut down the account (maybe because you are signing exclusive somewhere)...if not you should have wait the payout as it is the secure way to be sure of the payout :)

General Photography Discussion / stocksY?!

Someone that joined stocksy can tell how much did it take to get the answer for yes//no application?!

I've made the application i think more than one month ago without any answer.... :-\

Shutterstock.com / Re: Login problem
« on: July 15, 2014, 09:37 »
the big problem imho is that if buyers can't log in we don't get downloads  ???

243
yep 2-3 days for reviewing in IS non-exclusive...looks like incredible!

244
ok guys you're completely right and i said a crap before...just got rejection of 30 images...

I've look my images at 100% and yes they have some artifacts, but, nothing so dramatic that my older images do not had, in future i will pay more attention

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Ode To iStock
« on: July 09, 2014, 09:06 »
istock still works good to me  :) i'm having 250/300 dollars a month with a 1000 pics

246
finally they raised standards!! i'm kinda happy about that
i'm getting kicked too but it's ok...maybe noise or defocus is very little and we don't see it nor bother it

247
but i didn't understand something...The application consisted in sending 25 images and a link to your portolio right?

i THINK that they will judge on this 25 image submission, and then they chek your portfolio...but i think you should just avoid logos in the 25 image sample and not in portfolio....but this is just my idea

248
i always had a camera but i was never a photographer...just took picture of what i liked without a real clue...stock photography gave me the perception of what is the photography market and was a nice way to learn many new technical aspects of photography. (lighting, flash, studio, backgrounds blablabla)
My main mistake was that i concentrated a lot in framing the subject without caring about the light and background...in my amateur studio i slowly understand (studing pictures from top sellers) how and why a light should be placed, and how a nice background must be...

Now my pictures (i mostly shoot in travel and streets) are overall better lightned and framed, for me was a kind of school :)

249
i didn't follow all the discussion 'cos i don't have time to read 3 pages but my i must partly agree with Sean first post

All images looks like overprocessed on my screen they look like having "grey mist"; and looking stocksy images looks like they are looking just for sharp/bright/well framed simple images...i think is the rejection was just a matter of post production

Can someone experienced tellhow much are earnings here? i would like some numbers (like n.pic/earnings).... not just "good" "not good" "fair"  :)
