I totally agree with the author of the topic.

They reject videos for all kinds of generic reasons, but they never say exactly what is the problem.

Recently they rejected a batch of videos, with model release attached, saying "Intellectual Property/Release Issue" , but they don't say what is wrong with the form....   >:(

For those who are interested.... this is what i got.

"Thank you for your email.

It seems like the lower payment is due to the fact that your clip is downloaded by non-US source. When the clip is downloaded from a non-US source, the sales conversion to US dollar may cause a lower payment due to the the exchange rate from the origin of sale.

We have attached a screenshot of your payment history that shows that the download from your past month was mainly non-US source.

Best regards,

The problem with Fotolia is that they don't accept Editorial images. And their review team is a mess!!!

Thanks for sharing.

96$ is a great commission for one sale, but what about the ones below 23,70$, how many have you had?

Thanks for that.

I just think it is strange that I rarely reach 23,70$ or more. And like I said before, 32 sales in a row (2 months) making less than 30% commission hurts a lot in the pocket. :(

Cheers

« on: January 21, 2016, 09:06 »
Hello,

Shutterstock pays 30% commission of 79$ for each 1080p video sold, which is about 23,70$.

Well, the last time i've done 23,70$ was in the 16th November 2015. I've sold 32 videos since then and they all showed up with different numbers like; 19,30$ / 19,32 / 19,36 / 17,21 / 16,25, etc.....

32 videos in 2 months and none of them reached 23,70$??  I feel that they are lowering the commission ....  :(

Could anyone tell me how Shutterstock calculates the contributors commission per 1080p video sold?

Thanks in advance

It got me into my mind when I saw that, but I went back to correct some keywords on some rejected files, but It didn't change anything :(

Let me know if it changes for you...

For those who are interested, This is their answer for my questions;

Thank you for your e-mail.

Please note that all the files are reviewed by our selection team. Also note that the selection team is a separate department, and unfortunately we have no influence on their decision.

The main criteria for validation or rejection are: the quality of the image/video, the technical requirements, an incomplete or invalid model release form, the similarity to existing Fotolia photographs and the image's/video's sale potential.

Also note that our search engine works with single words. Compound word phrases entered as keywords are not valid, and this is one of the other main reasons of rejections.

We know that it can be difficult to have an image or video rejected but please bear with us.

We encourage you to please continue uploading more images and videos Online for review.

Kind regards,

anathaya;

All sorts of reasons like intellectual property, quality, too similiar, etc... but I don't agree with 90% of those reasons.

alijaber;

Thanks for the tip :).  I've heard that adobe stock has been working well with videos and that is why I have uploaded some of my files. I'll wait and see...

General - Stock Video / Fotolia review team sucks!
« on: November 18, 2015, 06:36 »
Hello,

I have just started with Fotolia because of the "Adobe thing" and I have uploaded some of my best footage in there.
The problem is that they keep rejecting lots of them for no reason. Even some animation backgrounds have been refused.

They say that the review team works separtely from the Fotolia team and they cannot explain the reasons that footage is rejected.

Many of these rejected files are selling a lot in websites like Shutterstock, Pond5 and VideoBlocks. No problem at all!

This is my first experience on Fotolia and I don't think I'll stay anylonger in there...

Anyone with same problem here?

cheers

Just change the name of the file. Make it shorter and simple

Yeah. It seems like they are going backwards now....
Not selling well either... :(

Shutterstock was my salvation from the past 6 months, but January was not good and February is dead! No sales at all.
This is very strange and it looks like a Deja-vu from what has happened to Istock.
If the fall happens I'll be forced to leave this business for good. :(
