Shutterstock.com / Re: Not a single sale for three weeks
« on: April 19, 2017, 07:29 »
everyone can get a few sales while his/her images are new on any subject.

To produce images that are downloaded again and again for long periods of time is much harder work.

If you want to get there, you have to improve. A lot.

« on: April 13, 2017, 07:33 »
AI can make decisions but it still requires technology to execute things.
With today imaging technology (Photoshop) it is impossible to do realistic composites. My opinion.

My answer is no, this will not work.

Editorial inspections are on hold because there was some problem with the collections they were appearing in.

What a suprise  ;D

I too can confirm very bad Jan and Feb, and very good March which is my BME
The difference is significant

« on: March 23, 2017, 05:50 »
I too can confirm that January and February totals were higher for me than previous months.
I have not uploaded anything since November.
I am waiting for March results and will do decisions after that.

Also I noticed many people complain that February was bad compared to January. But they did not compare to previous months (under the old royalty structure)

I do not like the new design either

1. I can not see all daily sales on one page as I could before. Very frustrating

2. I can not order downloads by ID. This is important for me.

Adobe Stock / "Visual Reference" in Model Release
« on: June 18, 2016, 09:52 »
The new model release for fotolia requires a "Visual Reference" to be attached at the top of the release.
Can anyone help me to understand what that is? Is it like a passport photo , or just any photo of the model?

Link to the new model release is https://www.fotolia.com/Info/Release/View/release_adult

I was unable to find any explanation on fotolia's website.

Thanks guys for your help :)

How does the application for stocksy look once Call to artists is opened?
Do applicants have to submit images, or just show their portfolios they have elsewhere?

Also I gues stocksy would not be interested in travel photography, what do you think?

Shutterstock.com / Re: Cap on daily earnings?
« on: September 27, 2015, 05:43 »
Last week I had two good days ($150 or so per day). The entire last week has been at $13, $16, $10 per day, WAY BELOW MY DAILY AVERAGE.

Very frustrating but very factual.

So you had TWO good days in a row? Is this not kind of the evidence that this theory does not work ? (just joking)

It is funny how people love conspiracies these days.
And sad at the same time.

If you believe what you write, why do you not prove it?

It is so easy. Use a IP anonymizer and look where some of your images are in the results. After big sales, look if the positions are changed.

So many report so many conspiracies, but no one ever proved anything.

All nonsense.

Actually had you been a bit longer in this game and with a lets say a five times bigger portfolio. Believe me you would notice the differences.
There is no need to prove anything, it speaks for itself, unless of course you assume this business is the one and only business that is honest to the point of stupidity.

Lets face it, if a business, any business whatever model can improve their revenue they would be complete fools not to.

There is no need to prove anything?

It is funny how people believing in various conspiracies always say that.
So how do you explain the plain fact that many people with large portfolio do not agree with your "proven" theory?

And how do you explain the reports of others, that after good days their images are on the same place in search?

So how is the "cap" achieved if your images are still on the same spots for buyers to purchase? I am a guy of facts. Give me facts and I will believe you.

Shutterstock.com / Re: How important is category?
« on: June 06, 2015, 07:41 »
Teddy, really? I was just asking -and wondering how people search. My doubts were based only on my own behaviour.

I never use category search. If I wanto to "narrow results" to let's say food, I simply add Food to the search query. Hard to imagine that a food picture would not have included the food keyword.

That is a good question. Asking myself some time ago. Is anyone searching categories these days? I doubt it.

iStockPhoto.com / Editorial Caption
« on: April 05, 2015, 04:34 »
Hello,

many of my editorial images are rejected because of bad caption (The caption information for this submission appears to be inaccurate or misleading)

The images are approved anywhere else including Shutterstock. Can you guys please tell me what is wrong with my captions? I can not get it right somehow.

Example :

Cedar Key, Florida - January 15, 2015 : Waterfront buildings on stilts in the historic downtown Cedar Key photographed from the fishing pier.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock sales is sinking deeply...
« on: February 05, 2015, 08:15 »
I am more optimistic. The 400.000 is not relevant in my opinion - most of the images is newbie, boring and unsellable stuff with bad postprocessing like landscapes, flowers or pets. I think only small percentage is relevant and sellable. The question is also what will happen on the demand side of this business. It was growing rapidly last year.

46
Such research is impossible.
You must have a lot of exact same images accepted with differen keywords. Shutterstock would never allow that.

Even if you would have, the results are only for now and in your specific area within specific competition. The slightest tweak to the search algorithm and results are different.

Looks to me more like you want to sell junk for profit

Shutterstock.com / Re: How are sales going?- Shutterstock
« on: September 07, 2014, 15:41 »
If royalties would rise, many more photographers will come, much more images will be uploaded and everyone will earn less. At .25 per download there are 10000 images approved daily. Uploaded probably twice as many. Does anybody consider that?

Shutterstock.com / Re: New to Shutterstock.
« on: August 19, 2014, 09:21 »
I think that most of the images accepted by Shutterstock in 2008 would not get accepted today.

Actually I know some of my images accepted LAST YEAR would not get accepted today !

The bars have been lifted during 2014.

Also, Shutterstock is very technical, while IS looks more after content and legal stuff.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Accepted at last
« on: July 08, 2014, 15:40 »
I have not uploaded anything for almost a year and the sales have not changed. But my portfolio is very small so it is not very representative :)

I am not uploading very much... but I get in everything that I think is good enough to get in.
I check Lighting, sharpness, noise and composition on every image and if it is acceptable, I submit.
