iStockPhoto.com / Re: November Stats Are Up-to-Date
« on: January 05, 2012, 02:18 »
Yes, my account "Balance" figure was the tip-off.  I knew that I had made at least $20 today, but I was only seeing one $3 sale displayed in my "Last DL" column.  I looked at the individual sales stats for one of my recent best-sellers, and sure enough those showed that it had sold twice today.  However, those sales never made it to my "My Uploads" page.  Guess it's still buggy.

My istock stats page are just showing sales from January first, so I'm really not up-to-date.  That particular page has always been behind by a day or two, so I'm not surprised.  But they supposedly had fixed the "My Uploads" page.  I'm still seeing just one download for today under the "Last DL" column, but I know from my account balance that I had more.  I checked my recent best-seller and it sold twice today, none of which is showing up under my "Last DL" column.  Frustrating that istock doesn't seem to be able to resolve this.

Hate to resurrect this thread but my "My Uploads" page is busted again; not showing today's downloads in the "Last DL" column.  Anyone else experiencing this?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Another Massive Best Match Shift
« on: December 23, 2011, 13:28 »
I don't know Sue; my Best Match search for "backgrounds and paper" looks the same.  The first 10 pages are completely filled with crowns (no Vettas, but for that search term that's understandable).  As an independent, I used to have 3 images on the first page. Lord knows where they are now.  My sales have completely tanked since this latest shift.

Wow, what a difference a day makes.  Yesterday was an "okay" day with 13 downloads and about $20.  A lot less than last December, but that's to be expected.  Today as of noon in California, I've had one stink'n download for 60 cents.  My one Best Match test image that was always on the first page for the search "paper and backgrounds" and sold four times yesterday, is nowhere to be seen.  Looks like I'm gonna get coal in my stocking.  Bah, humbug!

My royalties and downloads (blue bar graphs) have not updated since November 26th.  On the "My Uploads" page, I'm still seeing my most recent sale as being from November 1st.  Very frustrating and unprofessional.

I got an "Error 404 - Not Found" when I clicked on your link.

« on: November 14, 2011, 15:41 »
I haven't been able to convert my credits either; never had a problem till now.  Every time I click on "Convert My Credits" it sends me to the Tax Center.  I've already filled out my W-9 form, in fact several times.  I'm wondering if Fotolia wants me to fill out yet another tax form?!  I checked my Profile page and I'm completely up to date.  I've sent in a Support Request Ticket but have yet to hear back from them.  It's very frustrating.  Anyone having similar experiences?

General Macrostock / Re: Getty vs Corbis

Thanks for the reply.  It's interesting: if you type "zefa" into Google without hitting the return key you don't get any results about the stock agency in the preliminary findings.  However, hitting the return key gives a completely different set of results, including all the stock agency info.  Kind of weird.

To grp_photo; I hope you won't mind if I ask you what is "Zefa?"  A Google search for that term turned up absolutely no results, so my curiosity is piqued.

Thanks...

While there's been a lot to be mad at regarding iStock over the past year, the site seems to have settled down a bit over the summer.  I was pleased to see that they are advertising on the TV Guide channel website.  Hey, it's something...

A little off topic, but can anyone tell me if it's possible to determine what specific photos have sold? (without going through them one at a time).  I recently joined 123 and have had 4 sales in July, but the sales history page only lists totals and not the actual images that have sold.  I'm guessing there's a link somewhere that I'm just not seeing?

Thanking in advance...

Can anyone tell me what the average review time is for new uploads?  I finally broke down and joined 123RF, and initially submitted 13 images. One was immediately rejected for low commercial value, nine were later accepted, but three are still pending from June 6th.  Is a review time of 10 days (and counting) normal for this agency?

Thanking in advance...

Dreamstime.com / Re: Drastic drop down on sales
« on: May 11, 2011, 11:11 »
I agree with the previous comments.  My sales pattern at Dreamstime seems to be bi-polar.  Last month was my BME but sales so far in May are definitely in "famine" mode.

Couldn't even get the site to load yesterday afternoon; it timed out.  Later, it would only load half of the home page.  Working well this morning.

General Stock Discussion / Re: April 2011 Stats
« on: May 02, 2011, 14:00 »
The Good:

About $1500 total for the month.

SS: BME
DT: BME
FT: 2nd BME

The Bad: Veer at $0.00

The Ugly: iStock: downloads and $$ down about 40% from March, which was a good month.  Biggest one month drop ever for iStock and down $100 from April 2010. Portfolio size is about 600 images.  Amazingly, my SS earnings beat iStock's for the first time in the 4 years I've been doing microstock, and I have a smaller portfolio on SS!

The Gostwyck hypothesis may indeed be fact...

I seem to be getting different search results every day.  Overall sales are down since the change.  My best-seller, which had been selling pretty much at least once a day, has not sold once since the change; very discouraging.  It's also weird to see some of my poorer-selling images ahead of my best-sellers for the same search terms.

If one did a search for "paper and backgrounds," I used to have the 4th image position on the first page.  Now that image is on page 3.  It's still a decent placement, but I'm seeing what a difference it makes in sales to have an image on the first page for any given set of search terms.

119
Too early to say.  Four of my textured background best-sellers have now been spread out in the search, so their overall sales are down.  However, I've recently had sales from older images, including several that haven't sold in over three years.  While the new Best Match has me concerned, I've been more upset over the spate of recent sales under 25 cents.

120
I have a merchant account for selling prints at art shows, and I'm required to get each customer's zip code in order to authorize each sale.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: what is up with the Best Match?!?
« on: March 17, 2011, 13:28 »
I noticed this last night, much to my detriment.  For the search "paper and backgrounds" I used to have 4 images in the top 50, which was encouraging for me as an independent.  Now they're spread out with one on the first page and rest on pages 4, 6 and 7.  Changing the keyword slider does change things a bit, but not to any significant degree.  And as was stated in an earlier post, I doubt if buyers notice the slider let alone experiment with it.

Adobe Stock / Re: Worse than iStock for me
« on: March 12, 2011, 15:18 »
Well, I've been lurking on this group for long enough and have decided to make my first post.  Fotolia has been very frustrating for me in regards to getting images accepted.  My acceptance rate there is only around 50% whereas the other main sites are in the 80 and 90 percentile range.  Ironically, sales there have been quite good; I just wish I could get more images on-line!  My main beef with them is that they've rejected many of my best-sellers from the other major sites.  I understand that this doesn't necessarily mean that these images would do well on Fotolia, but you'd think that at least they'd make it through the review process.  My latest rejection speaks volumes regarding my frustration with them: the image has had over 242 downloads in less than 2 months on SS, yet it's not good enough for Fotolia.

Very frustrating indeed...
