Well, I would be careful with such statement as "even in Poland" :). It is one of the fastest growing economies in EU. I suppose it is already in a much better condition than Greece, Portugal etc.

12 people in poland probably cost 12.000 per month, in my country it would be at least double.

35.000 images is max 35.000$ income , no go  in my country.

how much cost educated worker in Poland?

Of course you mean 35.000$ a month, not a year ?

Six figures a month or a year ? 100.000 or 900.000. Makes huge difference.

Is anyone experiencing a drop in sales on Canva this month ?

I think a lot new photographers and illustrators got onboard recently which results in larger competition.

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Do you recommend Symbiostock?
« on: May 10, 2015, 04:06 »
Yep, Symbiostock was a BIG waste of time. I am curious why Leo begin new project for illustrators. Is it the same plan to make a platform , to sell some theme and then to abandon the project? I had a symbiostock site, upgraded theme for nothing!

100% agree.

Leo now creates a pseudo elite closed platform for illustrators (forgetting about dozens of photographers who paid $100 for Pro plugin and other stuff). What will be next when Leo abandons this project ? Vrfx - a platform only for videographers ? :D

As far as selling direct goes - I am getting way better money without having the store, cart, set-up prices etc on my website. I have just a beautiful gallery with clear information that if someone is interested in licensing my picture they can just contact me. Then the money I get from a single picture usually vary from $100 to $1000 (it comes with with nice personal contact or even a new business partnership). I recommend zenfolio, smugmug, squarespace and many more professional and solid companies - just the opposite of symbiostock, grfx and derivatives.

Ariene, why not spending less time whining in almost every thread on MSG on how bad this business is  and how agencies are not worth your time?  Focus on improving your skills or find some other thing to do that will make you happy.
As far as Canva goes I appreciate Lee's patience to respond to all those pieces of "good advice" or even imposing what Canva should do, how ought to review etc..

General Stock Discussion / Re: April Sales
« on: April 15, 2015, 08:21 »
What about today, April 15. Sales seem to be down across the board. Taxation season ? Holiday or what ?

85
Maybe someone thrifty wanted to print higher number of copies which is allowed in Standard Licence and figured out that it is cheaper to buy an image 3 times (each time in different agency) that buying an Extended Licence. As long as it is prohibited to do something like this in one agency, it is not clear whether the same rule applies in the case described above.

Pond5 / Pond5 auto tagging artificial intelligence

Seems interesting. I tried on a few of my images and the tool does a pretty good job even though it suggests only 20 keywords.

New Sites - General / Re: Pressfoto
« on: March 25, 2015, 05:10 »
Maria,

The prices on Pressfoto seem to be in EUR and you say you pay photographers in USD. Can you explain ?
Pressfoto is, as far as I am concerned a Russian agency and at some point paid in Russian ruble, is it still the case ?  The ruble, as a result of Putin bravado, is weakest ever and I would prefer to be paid in some stable currency.

New Sites - General / Re: Kozzi & Indivstock. Anyone ?
« on: March 25, 2015, 04:57 »
You get 0.25$ for every subscription download, which is lets say industry standard.

What is worrying is the price of their credits. For 0,5 credits (which equals to 0,5$) a buyer gets full resolution standard royalty free licence. Minimum credits package is 10 which is extremely low.

New Sites - General / Kozzi & Indivstock. Anyone ?

Hi,

Does anyone here have portfolio in any of these two sites ? What are your experiences ?

Thanks!

Hi!

Anyone works with them and can recommend ?

Thanks!

I apologise, I mistakenly figured a forum was meant to discuss matters. Silly me.

Real matters, not such trifles delibarated through almost 2 pages.

Canva / Re: Canva

I think that the time you spend here on talking about $2 fee is worth much more than the fee itself. I can't get it, if you earn $20 per month on Canva just wait those 5 months and during this time work on your portfolio. Do you really desperately need those extra $20 a month ?
By the way I easily earn much over $100 a month on Canva.

Computer Hardware / Re: Best monitor for stock photography ?

What about Dell UltraSharp U3014 2560x1600 LED IPS?

It is 30" and costs about $1150.

Let me ask again, do I need a monitor the huge value of which is displaying 99% of AdobeRGB while stock agencies still convert images to sRGB ?

What about FlexScan EV2736W ?

It is significantly cheaper than monitors from ColorEdge line, but still it is Eizo.

Oh I forgot to mention I need 27".

Dell U2314H looks a bit cheap, I'm not sure about the quality...

Eizo ColorEdge is expensive and as I said seems to be "too professional" for internet display (like stock photography).  It needs Adobe RGB color space to take full advantage of it. Stock agencies want sRGB I guess.

Computer Hardware / Best monitor for stock photography ?
« on: October 06, 2014, 02:55 »
Hi!

I have my NEC PA231W and I think these are my last days with the likes of "super pro" monitors, it started blinking and flickering irregularly especially in the bottom left corner. What's more I have never managed to calibrate it properly. I guess it' targeted more to preparing prints etc.

Now I am looking for an affordable monitor for around $1000. It should be factory calibrated, ready to use and display photos as they are commonly seen on devices.  I guess Adobe RGB is not needed since agencies only read sRGB (is that right?)

What would you recommend ?

Thanks,

Hi,

I've been in stock photography business for several years now and have an established portfolio on 15+ micro agencies and some macro. I have only photos and illustrations in my port, no footage at all. Is worth investing in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, time to learn all the stuff and shoot several clips for the start ?

I have Canon 5d mkII and I know it is perfectly capable of shooting great quality clips, but still I am not sure whether dive into this completely new world for me, or better stay in what I am good at = stills.

Has anyone tried this 'transformation' ? What are your opinions ?

Thanks!

Pond5 / Re: Do you think Pond5 is going to be a leader?
« on: August 14, 2014, 08:06 »
The great advantage is that they are multimedia stock library. Yes, I know Fotolia, SS also offer footage, and/or music etc, but in Pond5 it is somehow more visible, better integrated and interconnected. That's my impression.

Pond5 / Do you think Pond5 is going to be a leader?
« on: August 14, 2014, 06:48 »
Seriously, they have all it takes to win - great interface, search, fresh content, recognizable brand, contributors' support. The last one may turn out to be the most important these days. Pond5 give fair 50%, allow to set your own prices and have clear distribution network.

What do you think? Maybe this is THE ONE which we should support the most? Not jokers like graphicleftover (the name speaks for itself) or other newcomers that have no idea what they are doing.

Cheers!
