It's a subscription sale and I am thankful for it. I hope it's for good.

Alamy's Latest picture needs

This part of requirements for education is quite entertaining:

Quote
Clothing on girls/women

. Shoulders need to be covered by short sleeves or longer.
. No vests or strappy tops (if youre shooting someone with a strappy top/no sleeves you could put a cardigan on and shoot a couple more for an ELT alternative).
. Skirts/shorts should be at or below the knee.
. No cleavage visible (e.g. shirts/tops/dresses need to have a high enough neckline not to show cleavage or bare chest flesh).
. Clothing shouldnt be too tight (e.g. no tight tops that show the bust or tight leggings that give too much definition to the legs or bottom unless in a sports situation).
. Sports clothing should have as little flesh on show as possible.

I guess gymnastics, swimming, ballet and such is excluded according to the last line except somebody has a "19th century swimsuit".

General Stock Discussion / I thought Offset is exclusive
« on: September 18, 2017, 08:32 »
I always thought Offset is exclusive but I see the same images on other agencies.
Why would anyone pay so much more for the same image?

Adobe Stock / AS review vs FT review
« on: September 13, 2017, 14:54 »
Does anyone know if review criteria at AS is the same as on FT?

I am using FT but they drive me crazy with "similar already submitted" rejection.

From every two images from the same session one is rejected for this reason though they are very much different in what, for example,  one is pasta with cheese closeup and one is pasta with herbs (wide), or one is an isolated plate and one is a table setting with the same plate/ food + props.

So what is your experience with this?

Shutterstock.com / What is going on?
« on: August 23, 2017, 11:44 »
I never thought I would ever say this but I have more dl-s on DP than on SS this week.
I know it is summer but almost no downloads in the middle of the week is very strange.

Can't sign in to FT, the reCaptcha is stuck, I am trying to put in the check-mark in the box but nothing happens.
Anyone else?

Adobe doesn't accept PP payment for other than CC products, at least I couldn't find a way to do so.

Apparently, I have to convert my credits 3 times back and forth at the worse rate to buy something from Adobe, I can't believe this is happening.

Any advice, please?

123RF / Is 123 still accepting videos?
« on: April 22, 2017, 06:41 »
I have some videos waiting for review from last October. I wanted them up before last Christmas, still not reviewed.
Has anybody faced such long waiting time or just my videos were lost from sight?

123RF / Payment this month?
« on: March 25, 2017, 17:44 »
Did you get payed this month?
I had $53.45 in my balance at the end of February and this amount is not deducted from my actual balance. Shouldn't they pay when you pass $50? Did they raise the minimum payout limit?

Thanks.

Dreamstime.com / Portfolio appears to be empty
« on: March 17, 2017, 14:41 »
I just went to put my newly approved images in sets and I found my portfolio empty. It must be some loading problem, a pleasant surprise for the weekend.
Now I'm not surprised that sales are so poor.

Anyone else has this problem?

Alamy.com / Editorial requirements
« on: March 16, 2017, 03:49 »
Hi everyone,

I am contributing to Alamy for almost a year now, still can't find my way around.

I postponed uploading editorial images because I don't know if there are any special requirements for description and keywording (like on SS)?

I tried looking at other people's images but as there is no filter for editorials, I'm just guessing.

I see the blue info on some images but nothing else. Is that all?

Thanks.

CanStockPhoto.com / Upload help
« on: February 16, 2017, 05:18 »
I haven't uploaded to CanStockPhoto for a long time but today I did. I am at the unfinished section now, those wheels are spinning indefinitely but nothing happens. When I click on the edit pencil I see empty boxes, no metadata imported. Do I have to wait longer? Can I log out and come back later to finalize editing?

Thanks for your help!

123RF / Selective review
« on: November 30, 2016, 03:55 »
123 was always one of the tidiest agencies (IMO) but something strange is going on lately with the review process.
Waiting time was long but when finally time came to review stuff, they reviewed all files. Lately they review just a few files, some from the bottom, some from the middle and some from the top of the pile waiting.
Just an example to be more clear:
I had 60 waiting, one was reviewed but I have no idea which one, the next day another one reviewed. That makes 58 waiting. I uploaded 5 more images and the image count showed 51 instantly instead of 63. Guess what, some of the newest files were pushed (reviewed) over to approved, also some from the middle of the pile.
Anyway, none of these newly approved show up in my port yet.

Anyone else?

Dreamstime.com / Email from DT asking for free images
« on: November 26, 2016, 11:19 »
I just got an email from DT:
Quote
This is an automated notification. Your portfolio includes images that have been online for more than 4 years with no downloads up to the present. In order to keep up with the current standards we believe they should be removed from our commercial database, allowing fresh content to be more visible.

The following action options are available for you to decide:

- donate the image to the free section (default action) which can provide significant portfolio exposure and increase your sales; images can be disabled at any time later.
- keep the image online.

In order to review the images and take the desired action, please access the link below.
If no action is taken, the default one is automatically selected.

Review the images: https://www.dreamstime.com/oldfiles.php

Of course I have images with no downloads, who hasn't but what I find interesting is that they selected three images that I should waste for free, two of them are isolated gift boxes, just perfect for Christmas giveaway.

If you look at the wording, first they say that old images should be removed from the database, which I could agree with and also stop uploading. However, later on, they give me two options, to donate or to keep them online.
Would you give your images for free, while you market them on other agencies too?

I wonder if this has anything to do with what Shelma said at this other thread.

Off Topic / In memoriam Leonard Cohen - I'm ready, my lord

Shortly after releasing his Swan song ""You Want It Darker"", the great poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away.

Goodby Leonard, you will be missed.

CanStockPhoto.com / How does payment work
« on: October 15, 2016, 13:33 »
Can anyone please tell me how does payment work at CS?
I finally reached payout for the first time in 4 years with a small (500) port. I asked for payout on the 8th this month but nothing yet.

In the FAQ they say: "Our payments are typically sent around the 1st and the 15th of each month."
Does that mean that they pay twice a month, on the 1st and on the 15th or between 1-15?
Also, atypically, when do they pay?

Thanks.

Dreamstime.com / Image level not growing
« on: October 03, 2016, 16:08 »
I have a stupid question: I have images downloaded 4 times with level 0, images downloaded 8 times with level 2. I asked support why doesn't the image level grow on stat page though they are higher on image page. Their answer was that all images were bought by the same buyer. Do you know about this rule?

Now, looking on the stat of a "food on plate" image, I have some doubts about this:
- it is a very long period the images were bought
- if it was the same buyer wouldn't he be searching by image ID, rather than those nonsense keywords in the red box.
A penny for your thoughts.

Many thanks.

123RF / New rejection reason: Too Offensive
« on: September 09, 2016, 01:16 »
Every editorial I uploaded lately was rejected either for "poor composition", which is a matter of taste, or for this new reason:
"Image Unsuitable as Stock Photo / Too Offensive / Improper for General Viewing"
It sounds like I would have uploaded some porn.

This is how the "too offensive"looks like: https://www.dreamstime.com/editorial-photography-people-relaxing-socializing-outdoors-red-bull-soapbox-race-september-cluj-napoca-romania-image76726087

Affinity Designer for Windows was released in beta yesterday (I think), I just read about in their forum:

Designers may be interested to try it out.

Unfortunately  Affinity Photo for Windows is not ready yet.

Adobe Stock / Royalty-free stock photo by .... - as title
« on: July 08, 2016, 05:12 »
I've seen many images in (a) big and beautiful port having almost all still images with the same title/description: Royalty-free stock photography by ...    What could be the advantage of this, if allowed?

Dreamstime.com / Rejection with threathening
« on: July 05, 2016, 13:26 »
I got an image rejected for too much white space with this text:

"The area occupied by the isolated subject is too small, and by cropping the resulting image is under 3 Megapixels."

The image is an open diary/note book with flowers on top, isolated, so, long but not tall.

I cropped the image close to the isolated object on the long side but I kept the aspect ratio of the original format (3:2), it's my usual workflow because some agencies specify standard aspect ratio.

After the crop, the image was 6 Megapixel, so I resubmitted it with the resubmit button and a note.

This was rejected again but now I pissed the reviewer off big time, here he is shouting with uppercase and threatening "the stupid contributor":

"The area occupied by the ISOLATED SUBJECT is too small, and by cropping the resulting image is under 3 Megapixels.
You have submitted this image before and it was refused for the same reason(s) OR the resubmitted file is too similar with your initial submission. Please ensure that you did fix the problem(s). Do not resubmit identical images. Your account privileges may be restricted if you use this method
."

I had no intention to misbehave and the original image is 24 Megapixel, big enough even for DT but I didn't understand what the problem was. And what method is he talking about, it's their official resubmit button.

I don't give a da*n about my "privileges" of a few cents/month and I have no intention to resubmit but please enlighten me, do I have to cut out the middle of the image with no white space?

Again, it was accepted by all agencies the first time.

Many thanks for your thoughts.
