I'm not sure I'm following you. What is the primary concern? I searched "gourmet" in Fotolia and found over 1 million results. Are you concerned that the system will change the word gourmet to epicure automatically as a translation into English? As far as I can tell that isn't happening. Please let me know what specific information your concern is based on so I can investigate.

Mat Hi Mat, I noticed lately that some strange keywords are showing up on my newly uploaded images but I had no time to investigate when I first saw them. I didn't even know the meaning of some of them, so I couldn't have put them there. Yes, someone (the system) is changing the keywords, often with totally irrelevant, out of context synonyms. There can be 1 million results for gourmet but on old files. Please search for epicure, new or relevant search, take any, cake, chocolate, ice cream image from the first page and see if you will find "gourmet". IF you have access to the keywords on the indexing page you can compare them to the ones on the image page. My main concerns are: - changing good keywords with irrelevant ones looks like spamming to the buyer. - even worse is that special, technical terms from a niche are changed to poetry which could make the buyer doubt the photographer's mental well-being. Example: "screeding"( http://www.pavingexpert.com/screeding.htm) changed to "screening". Industrial, technical terms have their own dictionary. I worked a lot to find the right technical terms in English for my photos, no other agency changed them. All examples from above are real and many more, but I don't want to post my images here. I'm surprised that nobody complained and more surprised that you don't know about this. Thanks for your help Mat. Unfortunately I don't see a fix for this but I would be happy with some kind of warning during indexing, when a keyword is not accepted. Let me find the right synonym.

Ha! I'm not getting into linguistic debates,
Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I'm just trying to guess FT's reasoning. Why is a well known keyword changed to a less used one, or more precisely, how do I know what keywords to use to be accepted when indexing. When it is about keyword spamming I'm the first to agree to delete those words but I've never seen an agency that substitutes my words with whatever they believe to be more suitable.

I still don't think it's widely used. That's what I'm talking about. Keywords should be the most widely used, simple words. Ha - French = bad; Latin = good. Btw. English has nothing to do with Latin, while French is a Latin, Romanic ( Gallo-Romance) language.

-The number of keywords entered is now displayed in the indexing form adjacent to each image.
-The language will be changed in the indexing page to indicate you can add up to 50 keywords though 30 is recommended.

Nice talk Mat, let us dream! I don't want to be a killjoy but honestly, why bother when only a preferred part of them will be indexed? Your new dictionary will change any keyword with never heard (for some of us) synonyms like "gourmet" to "epicure", just because gourmet is not of English origin. Or "medicinal" to "medicative", who knows why? Do plants have medicinal properties or medicative properties? Even in this text the word medicative is red underlined by spell check. Indeed these words are synonyms but I've never heard about "epicure", I just looked it up in several well known dictionaries and guess what? My cake is: http://www.yourdictionary.com/epicurenoun 1. Someone who has a refined taste for fine food and drink. An example of an epicure is a writer for a food magazine. 2. A person devoted to sensuous pleasure and luxurious living. While gourmet food: Gourmet is a cultural ideal associated with the culinary arts of fine food and drink, or haute cuisine. Wikipedia. FT was my no.1 agency (no matter what others say) but I'm totally lost on this new site.

Of course sales are dropping. The new categories are not the same as the old ones were, so many of my old images were automatically placed in totally wrong categories by some machine. Not to mention that keyword phrases and keywords in plural once allowed are deleted now.
Just check the information panel of the images to see your actual keywords.
Do you have any supporting information that buyers were purchasing your images through a category?
No I don't, how could I? Do you have any supporting information that they don't?
Anyway, my main concern are the keyword. Do you doubt their importance as well?
Maybe their search now returns both single and plural likw SS.
I don't know. What I know is that some of my images have 10 keywords left out of 26. I contacted support and the answer was that those are not in US English "indexing language", whatever that means. These are some of the keywords that don't show up because they are not in English : rubber mallet, sawn granite, permeable paving etc. They are indeed somewhat technical terms but so are the images.

well, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
We are all pissed but insulting each other won't help. Truth is no other agency has so many down time, glitches and bugs as SS. I have a 0 day today, it is evening already in Europe and the site is still down. Yes, I'm not happy when on the first three days of the week the site is down.

Sales dropped here too after site change.
You should check the categories your images were placed after the site facelift. Many of mine were in a wrong category. I was working like crazy in the last week to place them where they belong to, though I'm not sure if that matters so much.

Never mind. It's not possible because subcategories are very tight, which is a good thing. e.g.: food → fruits → apples.

Hi everyone,
I just noticed that many of my old files are assigned to a wrong category after the site facelift. Is there an easy way to fix it in batch mode without messing up something else? Does batch editing the categories of selected files in a folder work? Doing it one by one is a huge volume of work.
Anyone has a solution, maybe Mat?

And I'd like to add my voice to those who find this new system A PAIN! The old system was quick, easy and generally worked for goodness sake!
I agree, why do they always have to fix something that is not broken? I uploaded 12 images yesterday, 4 went through to pending but 8 of them are stuck in processing. Sales are down too.

last year i have 1300 images and 50 sales per day, this year i have 1900 and 140 per day, last year images with +100dl are still selling this year every day mostly
140 dls per day with only 1900 images? That must be a very special port, congrats. I envy you.

I just stopped uploading there little point anyway making less than $5 per month on 1200 images 
I thought so too but I may change my mind. This month SS is dead for me and with the new changes I don't hope for better. Surprisingly, I earned more last month here than this month at SS. No stupid refusals either.
