Alamy.com / Will I get my money?
« on: March 21, 2019, 11:02 »
Hi everyone,

Can somebody please answer my question?

Last year I asked for the deletion of my images and the 6 month waiting period should have been over sometimes in April. During this period I had small sales, my earnings are $42 but still many uncleared.
My last sale was on March 5 and shortly after my port was deleted, earlier than said (6 month).

My question is, if I wait till my earnings will be paid (cleared) and then close my account, will I get my money  even if it is less than $50?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

But at other sites, this information is right there in front of your nose.  On the Adobe Stock site, it's buried under several clicks, plus the Adobe Site is slow slow slow.

And while I liked the instant email, I'm fine with a daily one for the previous day.  That's what Pond5 does and it works well and their email is formatted very nicely with ALL sales listed, not just the TOP SELLER.

I'm saying I have yet to even get my Adobe Stock daily email despite having sales the previous day.
I can see the notification on FT but no email received today either and it is almost evening here.

Just got a notification in my Fotolia (yes, I still log in there) dashboard.  It's the daily sales notification.  (But I didn't receive an email yet.)

But, all it said was my overall total for the day prior, and it only listed my best seller.  It didn't specify how many I sold, or what they all were.

This isn't the way the notifications are going to be, I hope.

I'd like a daily total, AND a complete list of what sold and for how much.

Right?
The email says the same thing, "Yesterday you made" and the bestseller, nothing more. It is totally useless.

It's a top request since ever. Is it too hard for a big tech company like Adobe to put that? Event depositphotos.com has it

DP is one of the most contributor friendly sites concerning layout, navigation and speed. I would be happy if AS could ever accomplish half of that.
Instead of making it easier, things work backwards, like the time-frame on statistics and now the delay of email notifications.

I used macro recorder that automates mouse and keyboard operation to delete all my images there. Once you configured it everything goes quit fast.

How do you know they are really deleted?
The trashcan in the edit section just disables them and if you look at the code you see: This image was uploaded less than 2 years ago.........
Code: [Select]
<script>
                        function do_disable(){
                          if(confirm("This image was uploaded less than 2 years ago. Depending on its quality, it may still have sales potential. Are you sure you want to disable it?")){
                            requestAJAX('/ajax/disable.php?imageid=XXXXXX','disable_holder');
                          }
                        }
                        </script>

No worries you don't have to watch the video! Bottom line is this. SS is going the way of Getty in a lot of ways the only real way to survive in this market is to produce really high end content! They don't care if a few people pull their clips or complain some. Now in order to make a difference you have to have your voice heard! So if you are upset here then you need to contact them and give them your thoughts. The more people that do that the better.
Do you really think that SS will select footage by quality or number of sales? I don't think they will waste time doing that, they will offer everything HD and bellow to this new market as they did with the $1.5 sales.

Besides, there are many HQ videos that didn't sell on SS but do very well on other agencies.

Buyers will buy what they need, regardless of quality, just like with images.

This will kill the video market for contributors.

So if (big if, we don't know yet what exactly was happening there) AS does indeed pay a lower rate, they would be breaking the contract.
What contract? There is no contract with any agency, it is just the TOS where they tell us their requirements and we accept what we get.

« on: February 17, 2019, 09:07 »
I only heard about Foap this week. My only doubt is about the personal information thay ask you to become "verified". They ask you to grant acces to your paypal account and have all kind of personal data taken from there, such as address, birthday and others...it never occured to me that any other agency ever asked me more than my paypal mail for paying me. What do you think about this? I'd like to give them a chance but this is really bugging me

Inviato dal mio iPad utilizzando Tapatalk

Asking for access to your paypal account should be sending major red flags up! Are people really that desperate to sell images? OMG

I don't think my English is very good. Does throwing up red flags mean I shouldn't join Foap?
Something is not clear in the statement I colored in red. The only way I know to give them access to your PP data would be to give them your PP password too and for that PP would terminate your account.

So Jafo, if they are asking for your PP email address, you can give it to them but not your PP password.

I just checked and many features are still there on FT site (in the sidebar), just uploads are disabled:

- My credits
- My files
- Statistics
- Convert my credits

are still working.

Hi everyone,

I just got some files approved but FT is closed, as you all know.

While I can live with seeing just a thumb of my images, I would like to see my videos in action.
Is there a way to see our videos playing on Adobe site? I can't find it, I can only see the thumbnail of the video.

Thanks for any help.

I've found it but now I have another question: when I go to my port on buyer site, the images in my port are in a random order and I don't see how to filter by new (at least).
This is how the menu looks like for me:

Dreamstime.com / Re: Request for web extended license (W-EL)
« on: December 18, 2018, 04:18 »
And now Ive just received another e-mail from Dreamstime. This one is requesting a P-EL license for the very same image. Seems odd that someone would want both a print license and a web license for the same photo. I thought it would usually be one or the other (assuming it's the same client.)

Okay....may as well enable these options and see what happens. Is anyone else getting these kinds of e-mails currently?

I got two requests (emails) today, also for W-EL and P-EL for an image that was sold two days ago for $1.80.

My thoughts, I feel such a fecking fool.  Until I got to No. 2 I thought you were serious and then the stinger, you got me there.

I was serious, what is wrong with my no. 2?
If categories are obsolete anyway, we shouldn't use them at all.

Just because it is obsolete in your head it dosen't mean that nearly a third of your global audience sees it that way, and the rest find the nativity scene cute anyway.
I didn't say it is obsolete, I said IF it is obsolete.

If you have an answer to the main problem of this thread, as in the title, I am glad to listen.

If you just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, please go be rude some place else.

Adobe Stock / Images uploaded to AS are not mirrored on FT
« on: November 21, 2018, 04:44 »
I uploaded seven images on November 13 to the Adobe, for the first time using the portal. They were approved but three of them are not mirrored on my Fotolia portfolio and the search engine can't find them either on Fotolia.

I reported it to FT, no answer yet but later I realized that this must be an AS glitch, so now I reported it to AS too (waiting).

My question to fellow contributors: is this happening to someone else too, do you check each time if the images are mirrored on FT?

I've read here on this forum that uploading to AS is faster and easier than FT.
I am very disappointed with the upload process and I would mention two problems that could be better (in case anyone listens):

1. If you have more than 50 keywords, which happens once in a while, AS cuts down the last ones without giving the chance to choose which one to delete.

2.If there are no subcategories, at least there should be more meaningless categories, for example,  for Christmas images  the category "Religion" is totally inappropriate IMO, even the world "holidays" would be more expressive.

Your thoughts?

P.S. I got a lightning fast answer from AS Support, thank you. They "reindexed" my missing images and now they show up on FT too.
The question remains, do we have to check this all the time?

No Fotolia!!!!  I cant get in there at all now??  whats happening??
I couldn't sign in right after this announcement , I had to agree to the new, updated TOS of FT first. Have you done that?

Dont know??  where did you see that? on the actual sign in inteface?

When I wanted to sign in, the new TOS showed up and didn't let me do anything before I agree. I thought it was the same for everyone on EU FT, here it is, updated on the 5th: https://eu.fotolia.com/Info/Agreements/TermsAndConditions

It was a long read and they show it all (not just the updates). I didn't pay much attention to the changes but I will read it again.

It seams that despite the merge, there are different term on AS and FT (or I didn't understand what they say):
Quote
After the Closure Date, for any Members that have uploaded any Work to a Website, unless you have entered into another agreement with Adobe Stock at contributor.stock.adobe.com (or successor website) these Fotolia Terms and the Upload Agreement will remain in effect and all Works will remain on our Websites and you will continue to earn Contributor Earned Credits, unless a Work is removed per the Upload Agreement or the Upload Agreement is terminated per the terms of the Upload Agreement.

Flickr / Re: Flickr sold to SmugMug
« on: November 07, 2018, 14:27 »
Now their are changing Flickr free accounts. Check their blog post here

I find 1000 images/free account is a very decent and generous change.
Many years ago, when I first subscribed to Flickr, free account was 200 images.

Smugmug was never a free platform and they sure didn't buy Flickr to do charity. Business is business and storage costs money.

Besides, professional stock photographers live in their own bauble, they don't realize that a huge % of people (I guess about 80%) who browse the web daily have no idea that stock photography exists.

Those people are glad to use a free account on Flickr or any other free platform to share their family photos.

I appreciate your feedback and can assure you the team will read your comments.

Regarding your first note..if you click the Adobe Stock icon in the upper left corner that will take you back to the Dashboard.

There is a very detailed collection of learn and support pages linked at the bottom. The direct link is here: https://helpx.adobe.com/support/stock-contributor.html

Thank you very much for your answer Mat.

Other than view statistics and the weekly position, what specific feature are you referencing that is available at Fotolia and not Adobe Stock?

-Mat

1. I would like a clear, fast navigation. At the moment navigation on the site is a pain in the a....

Once you leave the so called dashboard, which contains nothing but a graph and the portfolio, you are lost on the site. There is no coming back, say from the portfolio to dashboard or indexing or anywhere else.

At least, I would like to have more links in the dropdown right at the top, near my name, visible on all pages and why not more menu links in the sidebar, like in FT.

I spent four hour last night to get used to the interface and I had to bookmark certain pages to be able to come back to them.
I found out accidentally that if I double click an image in the portfolio I can edit (index) the image. Why not put a rightclick menu or a tooltip there, so people don't waste their time searching for features.

2. A detailed FAQ or support center for contributors would be helpful too. Right now the FAQ at the bottom of the page answers just a few questions.

This is the worst agency as far as usability concerns and all this was done in more than two years.
How can we expect something better in just a few month?

So you're saying she doesn't really know what's going on, you do, opening the account, including helping her make things, editing, uploading, submitting. In effect it's your second account, because she doesn't do any of the work, except maybe some parts of drawing?

Are you serious?
It is nobody's business who helps whom, I can pay somebody to edit my images if I want to. In fact that is what factories do too. I think this happens in many families and I don't see anything wrong in this, besides SS doesn't know about this.

So what if he uploads and submits for his aunt? Others are using Stocksubmitter, what is the difference?

The only thing that SS can see is the IP address which shouldn't be a problem on its own.

There must be some common elements in the work itself.

There are thieves reported all the time who build up entire portfolios from stealing others' work and SS is not able to detect them but it is very vigilant when these inexplicable "suspicious" activities occur.

It's pretty bad.

Contributors' payout email addresses, and usernames and passwords are being changed. Contributors can't access their accounts. Then the hackers are spamming contributors' real email addresses with literally 100s of signup requests.
Thanks for the warning. I've changed my password but payout email address is not so easy to change. Let's hope the best.

Alamy do give quite a bit of info on their sales on licence types sold...more than any other sites.... I just got a DACS payment I just look on it as a bonus I'm sure I could spend days working it out so I'm happy they take a percentage.
Yes, I understand, this is the full half of the glass. However, if I look at the 100% DACS amount, it makes up 50% of my two years (poor) earnings. Maybe, those many unreported sales are not random, just saying.

Do you sell RM? If so, it's in your sales history.
If RF, I don't know, maybe Alamy has that info (?)
Yes, I have some RM, news/sport but I have no sales recorded for any of them in sales history or elsewhere.

Thank you ShadySue.
