iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock February 2017 statement
« on: March 23, 2017, 07:57 »
Does anyone know if the PP's from December have been reported already?

I think I had PP sales on my January statement for sales made in December. Is that what you meant?

I just checked my January statement - it does have several sales from December, but most of them show 0.00 commission (and I don't want to know what it is), but I don't think they are PPs, more looks like the missing December subs.

Did you have any ThinkStock sales? Depending on how you tracked things in the past, you may not have realized that those were previously lumped into PP by IS. So that may be where most of your PP sales came from in the past.

General - Top Sites / IS Sub Averages for Non-Exclusives Only
« on: February 22, 2017, 14:02 »
I have been waiting to upload to IS since the announcement. Now reports are out. What is your average return per subscription

Please post ONLY if you are non-exclusive (different royalty rates will be hard to compare).

Please DO NOT take this thread off-focus. There are dozen of other threads where you can complain about IS, this ridiculous system, and a variety of other things.

My return per subscription was $1.07. I had one giant sale that threw things off so I calculated it without that sale as well. In that case, the return per subscription was $0.37. These numbers are both higher than what I was making per subscription before on IS but I am curious if that is true for everyone.

I had trouble with both FTP and the web service earlier today by FTP just worked an hour or so ago.

Tried to figure out the ESP stuff to track sales today. Found the site (espaws.com) but wasn't able to log in. Do you have to have a username and password from Getty to use the site? Mine is from IS.

FT gives you more info about this than other sites because you can track your weekly ranking. There's a lot of variability in that number but it can give you a general sense of whether you are the only one seeing a drop (your sales drop and your weekly ranking goes down) or whether everyone is experiencing a drop (your sales drop and your ranking stays consistent).

In general, it's useless to fret about ups and downs. They are going to happen. Do good work and don't expect too much from the business.

Site Related / iStock vs. Getty in Poll
« on: October 11, 2016, 15:58 »
Hi everyone-

We only have images available through Getty via iStock and their partner portal. So far, I have been lumping 'getty' sales in with the general iStock sales. Is that what everyone else does? Getty sales fluctuate a lot but some months, they make it look like iS is working way better for us than normal.

iS has been changing their backend and the script writer is waiting to fix the script until the changes are over. That's the gist I got from other places.

Thanks, now I know what the red means. I have not uploaded for a long time, in fact, I tried but the uploaded files just vanished, couldn't find them anywhere, so I gave up. Now I want to try again.

After you upload your files through FTP, go to 'Upload' then select 'Footage' and proceed. The system will have your files somewhere in limbo and will start pulling them in after you do this.

It's funny for me to see people comment that 123 is consistent for them because it is my 'streakiest' site. We sometimes go weeks without sales and then will go days with way above average sales. My September is looking to be as good as August from a bird's eye view.

PhotoDune / Re: Photodune Stats?
« on: August 18, 2016, 07:40 »
Click on your name in the top right and go to portfolio. You can then search by total sales, total commission, average monthly sales, average monthly commission etc.

Oh and make sure you're in list view, rather than grid view, in your portfolio... or the stats won't show up.

thanks! :)

This route does work but it can still be frustrating to use when you start getting multiple sales of the same item. I have found that clicking on 'Statements' gets me a list of sales including file name, sale price (and associated fees), sale date, etc. That's been the best source of sales info for me on Envato.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: $0.60 sale on Thinkstock
« on: August 15, 2016, 12:30 »
How do you know they're definitely from Thinkstock and not Getty Plus, which can be for any amount? Both show green on your stats charts.

If you install the toolbar with Google Chrome, it will actually show you which site it came from. 'Think stock' shows up differently than 'Getty'

We got these e-mails today, too. Does anyone actually have knowledge of what the concerns are here? The e-mails were suspicious and we didn't act on any links in them. But we did end up having to request a password change and making it.

How can we trust them about our sales? They have serious problem with everyone else, how mach is the chance that they do not have problem with our earnings ?!!!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think we will always have to feel unsettled in how little we can trust the companies. SS did get back to me about this file with the lame response of 'the map is in beta testing.' The explanation that videos can be re-downloaded that someone offered above seems pretty reasonable in this case to me. So it doesn't exactly make my trust in SS go up, but it also doesn't really make it go down. It's just staying where it is, somewhat cautious. ;)

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock earnings in July....
« on: August 01, 2016, 16:23 »
We had a pretty good month in total income on SS. Third July in the business so with much larger port in 2016 than 2015, it's hard to compare with total earnings. Profit per image this July was on the low end for the year (2nd worst month of 2016) and was about 2/3 of profit per image from July 2015. So even though it seemed like a good month, the findings are mixed.

a video file appeared on my sales through the map but it never appeared in my earnings summary
happened to me at least 2 times

They explained it some time ago. A customer is allowed to re-download videos they purchased in the past. If they do so, you see it again on the map in the same spot but your earnings don't increase because they buyer had already paid before.

Thanks for this info. I'd prefer it to be a new sale but that does make some sense, I guess.

42
What happens to be very often for videos is that I have a sale, it appears on the map and then, after some period (sometimes days), the same appears again on the map, but no sale is reported.

Did you have a sale for this video in the past days?

Cheers

Have sold this video more than any other but haven't sold it in quite some time (weeks definitely maybe even months). I've had some strange video stuff on the map before just never this exact combo. I did send an e-mail in to SS about it so we'll see what they say.

43
Yesterday a video file appeared on my sales through the map but it never appeared in my earnings summary (nor did income from that sale appear in my incomes total). Every once in awhile I see that the map acts strangely, showing only old sales, for instance. But this doesn't seem to be a glitch. Anyone ever had this happen? Will likely be contacting SS if I don't figure it out within the next day or so.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: istock mail about Royalty adjustment
« on: July 26, 2016, 20:42 »
A few months back (I don't remember when), IS sent an e-mail saying that they were trying out smaller subscription plans that would give contributors more than the low base rates. They pay the difference between regular sub plans and these higher-priced sub plans at the end of the month. Usually you can't link the 'extra' to the image. Today's e-mail was actually a glitch that ended up allowing contributors to do that. If you want more info, you'll have to take the time to look it up.

« on: July 26, 2016, 18:21 »
I got the emails too.  Was nice to have some royalty adjustments in my favor for once.

Like many others, I never bothered trying to find or use their new forums.  Would someone in the know want to share the revelations?  I don't see a reason to drive traffic to their site.

The message in this e-mail was an error. These were actually adjustments to subscriptions from June.

I'm not sure they were subs since I got one mail with just one picture but with 0.72$, I get 0.28$ for subs so I think it can't be it. I doubt they paid me more because they felt sorry for mistake. But it was from June since that picture got accepted on 20th June.

Did that picture sell as a sub in June? The .72 is a 'bonus' meaning the sub plan should have paid you $1 not the $.28 you normally get. IS has been giving us this 'bonus' money as ambiguous money after the subs all get reported for several months now. This e-mail basically was making it not so ambiguous but actually telling us which images sold for more than the minimum sub price (which in my case is also 28 cents). I had four images get a 72 cent bonus, each of which gave me a 28 cent sale in June.

General Stock Discussion / Re: stock travel advice
« on: July 25, 2016, 11:03 »
I am the wife here (although I am only one and we are certainly all different). It's taken me awhile to catch on but now that stock money is paying for our travel to collect more stock, I've jumped on board. I've also started playing with a second camera (low stakes) and have gotten good enough to contribute a few shots from each day of our adventures. On the off chance that I don't feel like shooting, I'm happy to pose/model and I always bring along something else to do (other work for me, a book to read, a game to play on my phone or iPad).

Plus, the places we go are so much prettier in the early and late light in addition to being less busy.

As other posters have said, we take our 'vacation' back at home or do something leisurely in the middle of the day when we are traveling.

« on: July 12, 2016, 07:46 »
Anyone else having IS log in problems? I can log in on one browser but not another and which browser works changes. Right now I want to see which specific photos sold through Partner program and I need Chrome to do that more quickly but only Safari is working (last night Safari didn't work and Chrome did). I glanced over at their forums but didn't see an obvious thread on the issue.

Pond5 is a waste of time for a port with no video.

I'd say BigStock or Canva. We are on Envato (photo dune only, will not submit videos to them and don't have vectors at the moment) but sales are pretty infrequent (1-2 a month) and royalties are not that high. They also rejected a lot (most) of our work.
