" Royalties based on Subscription usage
There also seems to be some confusion related to how your royalties will differ depending on the number of downloads a customer has made against a subscription. We've prepared a few examples to demonstrate how things are going to work. For the purpose of this demonstration, we will use the Essentials 10 Subscription, which has a list price of $40 USD.

Low Utilization (20%)
# of downloads made: 2
PPF: $20 ($40/2 downloads)
Non Exclusive Royalty: $3 ($20*0.15)

Medium Utilization (50%)
# of downloads made: 5
PPF: $8 ($40/5 downloads)
Non Exclusive Royalty: $1.20

Full Utilization (100%)
# of downloads made: 10
PPF: $4 ($40/10 downloads)
Non Exclusive Royalty: $0.60

This examples illustrates your royalty for this subscription can range from 60 cents to $3 based on the number of downloads, and how for this subscription, the minimum royalty is not applied"

Yeh, like I always go to supermarket to buy one milk pack and pay for 10. I do this all the time, 'couse I'm a philantropist, but I don't want people to see it. Or maybe I'm not and I never do it.

I don't see how someone who pays for a big subscription pack, would take only a few of the images. That's why we stay to chase our images on so many illegal sites. This is also a part of the deal that they do not respect it: we create and take 20%, they sell, advertise and PROTECT our work and take 80%.  >:(

I am already tired of deactivating images on Istock, but I will do it until my last one. I don't want yet to delete my account, because you never know: maybe they fire the idiot who took this smart decision and I might change my mind.

I'm also out.  >:( It was my best agency I've dealt with. For the past months I've seen a decrease in sales and I was already pretty upset. With the new payment  algorithm, I have reached my breaking point.
I hope there are many as us, so we can give them a lesson and in the future to not have the same surprise with other agencies. I am sick and tired of stupid people who think they are well prepared to say how much my work worth. Most of them have no clue how much time you need to create something, but they can very well evaluate others work. The only thing they are doing well is negotiating a very big salary. Then they take bad decision and destroy big businesses (see yahoo :) ). I hope Istock goes really really  down.

Something wrong is still going on with search results also. For example, I have a few images for the Chinese New Year 2016. This year, I've made a few for the upcoming year. I sell the old ones, but I don't sell anything from the new ones. Why would someone buy something that is already becoming obsolete?
More over, I have also a few calendars for 2016 and 2017. I had a sale for a calendar 2016 and the next day, from the same location, I have sold the same type of calendar, but for the year 2017. My guess is that they didn't find the right one after the first search. This is stupid!!!

Thank you all for your answers! I hope they will fix the platform any time soon, otherwise I think they will have to deal with a decrease in quality images and good contributors. A lot of people will loose the interest in uploading without any result. In the past 24 hours I had a few sales (all subscription) of very old files. Sad...

Does anyone still sell anything on this site? I have never had such a bad period on Shutterstock since I am member there. Today I had ZERO downloads, yesterday 2 subs. And I've tried to continue my uploading every day. I guess now I've reached my breaking point. It is extremely demotivating working without any hope of earning improvements. Before they have started with changing the algorithm, I was doing pretty well, and I have had 4 times less than what I have now (around 2200 vectors). I've worked a lot in the past 3 months and all I can see, is a decrease of my earnings.

Any other opinion? Is everybody content or you just have given up complaining anymore?

Greetings, Luka

No

Good job!

At least someone is happy with the new algorithm. I wonder how many are alike, so we can guess if it is any chance for reversing the search algorithm or not.

How are your sales, guys? Mine are frozen :-X I really don't know what to expect anymore. I still upload, but I don't know how much I can go like this. It is no point to make new stuff if it's not sold. I guess the new content is not even seen. All I've sold the last past days, was stuff uploaded months ago.

Map is back and is back frozen.

"Great news!

Our Tech team were able to resolve the matter and the Map is finally back. :)

We apologize for any inconvenience and sincerely would like to thank you all for your patience while we resolved the matter.

All the best,

Alex"

Sorry Alex, map is out again.

And not only the map. The sales are down again. At least for me :(. For a day only, I thought the sales are going back at what it was before the changing, but I was wrong

Shutterstock.com / Re: EL of 13$
« on: August 24, 2016, 04:35 »
Most of the other sites I use either never sell an EL or its an extremely rare event.  So I have stayed opted in with SS because at least they do sell them.  Most of the ones I have had this year have been in the mid $20 region.  If the average EL dipped below $20, I would consider opting out.

I totally agree with you, only that some of us are making mostly vectors. So the situation is different from a portfolio to another. A vector can be easily remade, the idea can be quickly stolen...and it is also hard to track your vector image on the internet. A photo or a video is almost impossible to redone exactly the same with the original.
That is why I do not opt out.  >:(  This doesn't mean I am happy with this.

I rarely get EL (2-4/year), so I'm always happy when it happens.....but it's getting really discouraging.

For my EL today i got 13$, for the one a few months ago only 17$.
I'm in the top tier......

 :-\

I got one last week (the second this year): 17$. Pretty disappointing, considering that the one before this was 22$ and the one before that one 28$.
But my entire August month was a disaster.  :'(

Thanks for the answer. I do have over 1000 files, so probably this doesn't apply. :)

Are you sure you are looking at the right page? Scroll down the page, at page numbering check "all", then search .

I am sure. I've double-checked the entire list after all the criteria and I'm not in. :( Thanks anyway

It only shows the contributors with over 1000 images.

The headings on the top are clickable, so you can search by other options rather than just quantity.

The % is the percentage of your portfolio that has sold at least once. I'm not sure how much longer this info will be available now that Shutterstock have removed the 'undiscovered' tab, which I guess is what has been used to calculate this figure?

Thanks for the answer. I do have over 1000 files, so probably this doesn't apply. :)

It's very accurate but only for photos, not footage. Not sure what % of sales means.

I have only vectors.  :)

I also didn't succeed to access my profile page.

Oh, so, it's not so accurate  ;)

Hi, everybody

Reading different topics of the forum, I have discovered this link: www.microstock.top/index.phtml?sort=portfolio

Are there all the contributors of shutterstock? I ask this because I wasn't able to find me. I don't have an impressive portfolio, I am pretty new in this branch and also don't have not big sales, but I've noticed there are also small contributors. I did changed my username one time, of than counts  :-\

And I would like to know what "% of sales" means. Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

Finally my images were approved, after 20 days of waiting. They don't appear in searches, so I guess it will take another 20 days till my portfolio will be online >:(.  Thank you all for your replies.

Review time up to three weeks...

I love your portfolio, especially the foxes :)

I would say three weeks is about right....in the long run although it is irritating it doesn't really matter....the trick is to fire them off and move on otherwise you you will spend time stressing

Thanks a lot everyone!   :) Then I will try to not check every day if they are accepted or not.

I would say give it a bit longer but in the end ask them....theirs is indeed the flakiest site around

How long it usually takes until the first review occurs? From your experience, of course. My images were uploaded on February  12th. It is too early to expect something to happen? I don't want to upload more until I am not sure that I have done it well the first time. It is enough work anyway...and just for pennies. I think I may start begging on the corner. I will earn much :)  and with less efforts >:(

Hi, it's me again :)

My images are still pending on this site and I don't know if usual it takes a long period of time until the evaluation or I have made something wrong. My images appear in "all" files and in "incomplete" files, and any of them into the accepted or rejected fields. So, I wonder if there is just a simply delay or I needed to complete some more fields and I don't know. For example, I didn't choose any country, can be this the problem?

Thanks in advance!

In January my first batch was approved just within a couple of days, now I've got files pending for over a week I guess.
I didn't get any confirmation email the first time (not sure maybe somewhere in the mess of their settings this option exists :D but i just go to my portfolio page or "manage media" page once in a while to check on the status..

Thanks.   :)
