Shutterstock.com / Re: SS levelling up
« on: January 12, 2021, 13:51 »
17 video downloads: 48$ :o. RPD: 2.82. Usually, my monthly RPD is 12-20$. I'll wait for the rest of the month and see...
Now at level 2, I'll need another 6 months to get back to level 4 :(

102
From the FAQ:

What is the resolution and file type of the videos I can create with Promo.com?
Basic and Special Holiday Plans can download videos in HD quality (720p).
Standard and Pro Plan subscribers can download Full HD (1080p) videos.
All videos can be downlaoded in MP4 format.

Can I sell videos I make?
Yes, Pro and Agency Plan customers can resell or reassign videos to a different owner.
Please note that when you do this, your own rights (including the lifetime license) to use the video expires and passes along to the recipient.

103
They have a monthly subscription with an unlimited video download! 99$ paid monthly or 69$ paid annually, from the FAQ:

Will videos have a watermark or Promo.com mention?
Videos you download are yours and do not have a watermark or Promo.com mention.

Can I use the video after my subscription is over?
Yes. The videos you download are yours forever.

Where can I use the videos I create?
You can post, publish, upload, and share your videos on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn or any other social networks, websites or blogs, as much as you want.

104
The preview is 1280x720, but it's really usable!

105
Hmm... Maybe, I am confused, but 40,000 downloads/month with 1.4 millions images online doesn't look so high too me. Or, maybe, I am doing pretty good without models ...

Congratulations anyway.  :)

Acutally as mentioned in the interview it's 1 million at SS

106
By increased sales, you mean quantity or royalties earned?

Last few months in my case:
increased video sales in SS, very poor sales on P5, no sales on AS,
but I don't have too many clips, 700+ .

RPD for me (SS):
July: 9.5
August: 15.5
September: 17

107
Not in my case (Video only):

July: SS 52 sales, AS 4 sales, P5: 3 sales
August: SS: 32 sales, AS: 0 sales, P5: 4 sales
September (till 15th): SS 40 sales (!), AS: 0 sales, P5: 1 sale

P5 was my best earner till mid 2019: (60 - 70%) of my income, after that I had huge drop in sales just after going exclusive there(!!). Going exclusive was a big loss as I lost my videos ranking at SS.
At the end of 2019 I've canceled my exclusive account at P5 and uploaded everything to SS, AS (except editorials) and to a new account at P5, again a huge loss as I lost my videos ranking at P5 this time.
My clips start selling really good at SS, and slowly at P5 and SS, and this year SS has 70% of my income.
I've boycotted SS for 2 weeks after they introduced the new earnings structure, and tried to cancel my account there but the number of sales is very very discouraging at P5 and AS and I really rely on microstock's income to feed my family, sadly I just can't do it for now.

108
Does it support videos?

109
Actually it was a very good month for me, but I deactivated my port at 15 June as I'm very concerned about the future of video sales with the introduction of video subscriptions and these completely unfair new earnings breakdown

110
I just disabled my video port en preparation for D Day (2250 videos with 25000$ sales).
My tiny images port (80 images only) was disabled on 1st June.

Pond5 / Re: Poll: Pond5 exclusive
« on: February 14, 2020, 05:11 »
You should add an option for those who already opt-out, like me. Exclusivity was a big disappointment, sales decreased month after month. Now after re-uploading all the files to Shutterstock and AS, I've lost all my files ranking everywhere, which is a huge loss.

Anyone of you guys noticed drop of views in the statistics tab? Now I'm getting 1-10 views (for the past ~7 days) where as I was usually getting more like 60-130 views per day.

Yes, the same here

@viktorcvetkovic

The program will keep your original filenames if you use only Latin characters, digits and underscores in them :)

Are you sure? My file names are always changed despite using Latin characters, digits, and underscores (I upload videos only).
Example: My latest upload: 06_regie.mov becomes: 5e073b888f9ab82daa580520.mov on SS

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 will remove ability to set prices?
« on: August 30, 2019, 10:12 »
Frankly I am fine with this move as long as they increase the lower prices that are below $79 to $79!! My guess is they won't so it that is true then they are the ones responsible for lowering the pricing on the market

I wish that too!

Pond5 / Pond5 will remove ability to set prices?
« on: August 30, 2019, 09:45 »
Just got this e-mail from P5:

Dear Artist,

As you know, allowing artists to set their prices is a principle we hold dearly at Pond5. We do this because it attracts a diverse set of artists and content to our community, which in turn brings in more buyers. Ultimately this freedom creates value for everyone.

As stewards of the marketplace, we have an obligation to make sure that no Artist is doing something that will negatively impact other Artists. That is why our Contributor Agreement mandates pricing minimums and also requires that non-exclusive content not be listed for a price higher than on competing websites. When non-exclusive content is priced higher on Pond5 than on competing websites it destroys the integrity of the marketplace and hurts all the other artists on the platform who abide by the community rules. Over time when buyers learn they can find the same clip for less money elsewhere (at lower artist royalties by the way), they stop coming back. We can never allow this to happen.

If you have non-exclusive video clips in your portfolio priced higher than what they are listed for on a competitive site, in the coming weeks, we will be adjusting pricing to the market rate of $79 for HD and $179 for 4K.

If your portfolio is exclusive but is not marked as such, please  sign up for the Exclusivity Program. "

It looks like non exclusive contributors won't be allowed to set prices higher than 79$ and 179$

I voiced an opinion

Ah, if that was the case, I have made so many extra ultra positive comments, I should sell like crazy!

They are not stupid, content is king, customers (guess) buy what they need. Not "exclusive" irrelevant or inferior clips! Perhaps they messed with something, look how many times login (with w/out) verification changes, curation times, order in own clips, etc.

Guess things will settle down. After Easter or in time.

EDIT: On a second thought, all us people exclusive or not raising prices, might affected negative our search ranking? I dunno.

Just wondering if anyone else who voiced an opinion noticed the same, or - if it is just a bit a fluke. (Very concidental fluke, seeing as the last year has been consistently a couple hundred/month, now $0).

I'm exclusive and this is happening to me too (0 sales this month against 8-15 usually)

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 Wrong Price
« on: April 09, 2019, 07:12 »
Hi,

I just had a couple of HD $77 sales on Pond5.
I have no clips priced at $77 they are all $79.
The license just says the usual 'Individual License'

Any ideas where the $2 went?
Is this more greedy shenanigans?

They make various offers to customers (-10%.. -20%), after that we get the usual split (60% - 40%)

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Terms

I'm also sure it's related to P5.. I've deleted most of my video port at AS and I wasn't aware of the terms

General Stock Discussion / Re: Pond5 "Good News"!
« on: March 24, 2019, 05:08 »
For those thinking of going "exclusive" to P5 and maintaining a non-exclusive account with the same clips that are found on other agencies, keep in mind that:

  • According to their new agreement, P5 has the right to adjust your pricing DOWN if you raise the price of a non-exclusive clip on P5 if that same clip is found to be at a lower price elsewhere (i.e., if priced at $79 elsewhere), and
  • Your exclusive clips cannot of be SIMILAR to your other non-exclusive clips.  As an example, if you have two shots from two different angles of the SAME concept that you shot at the SAME shooting session, you cannot make one exclusive and the other non-exclusive.

I think a lot of people aren't getting these two concepts.

Point #1 also applies to those who AREN'T going exclusive to P5: If you're thinking of raising the price on your non-exclusive clips to make-up for the new 40% commissions AND those same clips are on SS and AS at $79, you have to price them on P5 at $79 (or lower, if you want).

Of course, it's up to P5 to police and enforce these new regulations, which I think is a whole other conversation.

I'm very aware of that.. I've  priced all my non exclusive at 78$ long ago at P5 and now I'm going to raise prices of those that sell well there and remove those that sell better elswhere

General Stock Discussion / Re: Pond5 "Good News"!
« on: March 24, 2019, 00:38 »
I'm now exclusive with P5.. it wasn't a hard choice for me because already about 35% of my port was exclusive with high prices and most of my income is coming from those files, so instead of losing 20% of my income I'll get 20% more, I'll raise the prices of the files that were on other stocks from 78$ to whatever I believe is fair.. for those files that doing well on SS, I'll delete those from my exclusive account at P5 and create another account for non exclusive footage. I'll lose the ranking for those files at P5, but I believe I'll be the winner in the long run.

Remember Videoblocks announcement after their commission cuts. 'Look forward to more sales' they said. Instead sales have gone completely AWOL for most contributors. I wonder how their financial books are looking. Or can they just survive off their second rate membership library?
It's a win win for them. They wasn't getting anything from contributors and now they get 50% of the few sales they have now, they can use this money to buy more clips from contributors and add those to their library, this way they get more and more subscribers.

Wouldn't this exclusivity be a good thing though?
If other agencies see users deleting or stalling new uploads in favor of Pond5?
They should have to give good, or better alternatives to keep contributors?

For me, if P5 encourage exclusivity it will be definitely a very good thing to me because I have many exclusive clips there

.. and I expect they will give some advantages for those exclusive contributors to encourage more exclusive content (something like better ranking)
