Well, SS is the only advantage at BB, they will deduct 15% of your sales at all other agencies, so you may end up losing more money than what you won from SS levels alone. 53

General Stock Discussion / Re: AI are outperforming stock photos on Adobe« on: June 09, 2023, 13:34 »
I've encouraged my 17 years old son to create photos using Midjourney for AS. He doesn't know anything about photography. He started uploading images to my AS account 3 months ago, here are the number of sales (remember he's novice):
April: 27 sales May: 51 sales June (till 9): 28 sales He now has 1500 files online (260 under review) and he's planning to upload 500 - 1000 images per month. I do videos mainly, but I have had around 300 images online for years, and he already exceeded my number of sales for images. I really feel sorry for photographers as they can't compete with the image quality created using Midjourney, it's just amazing. So, imagine if 100,000 novices like my son are uploading to AS, what would be the result? 58

Strange coincidence, I've got 32$ at Pond5 under "Subscription Earnings". I'm not in P5 subscription program and this is the first time I got such earnings.

They are must be making huge money from the data deals from SS and P5

General - Top Sites / Re: Payoneer fees« on: April 27, 2023, 16:54 »But payments from SS don't have the $3 fee. I think the difference is you can request payment at anytime at AS vs you have to wait for SS to pay you. No, they charge me that fee despite the fact that I receive much more than 2000$ per year. Regarding the 3$ fee it's applicable for all agencies except SS and Istock/Getty 63

I removed around 750 clips the last few days and put them exclusive at P5, I get bored from these 1$ dollar sales per clip

Pond5 / Just received some money from "Dataset Earnings"« on: April 12, 2023, 08:43 »
I received a sale under the name "Dataset Earnings", after some investigation it looks like, as usual, the agency is selling our work to third party AI companies.
I went into Account > Preferences and found a checkbox that allowed them to sell the dataset and turned that off, so be aware... Edit: Zero Talent was faster than me, so let's keep the topic here: https://www.microstockgroup.com/pond5/dataset-earnings-opt-out/msg0/?topicseen#new 65
Newbie Discussion / Re: How much do you make really? Do you do this full-time?« on: April 08, 2023, 09:06 »
2020 average income per month: 755$
2021: 690$ 2022: 574$ 2023: 730$ Edit: not full time, I just upload part of the clips that we shoot for our documentaries, I didn't have time to upload any new content for the last 6 months. 66
General Stock Discussion / Re: AI: Midjourney keeps a lot of rights to anything you produce using it?« on: April 01, 2023, 08:27 »
Sad thing, Midjourney's quality is currently unmatched, it's hard to compete with its users if you want to do generative AI content.

Pond5 / Re: Zero sales so far this year. I dont think Ive ever gone 3 months with no sales« on: March 21, 2023, 05:16 »The first three months of this year are twice as good as in 2022 on Pond5. In the first three months, I have better sales on both P5 and SS, but sales at P5 come from buyers that pick several clips from certain collections, guess it's luck more than anything else. 68

Hehe, SpaceStockFootage said in another thread that more than half of his earnings comes from video subscription sites (Mostly Envato Elements and Storyblocks). I started uploading to Storyblocks 3 months ago and the estimated earnings for this month are 1/3 of my total earnings. My portfolio at Storyblocks is 1/6 of SS, but it looks like I will earn more at Storyblocks this month... 74

Looking at January numbers, the lowest video sale at SS was 1$.
Edit: Lowest sale at level 1 was 1.05$, but I have several sales of 1$ at level 2. 75
General Stock Discussion / Re: Envato Australian Royalty Withholding Tax« on: February 12, 2023, 22:41 »
Envato is the worst site regarding tax withheld. I'm from a country that doesn't have a tax treaty with US, so 30% tax should be deducted from my US sales.
If I sell a clip for 100$ on SS, and I'm on level 4, I'll get 30%=30$. If the sale is for a US client, another 30% is deducted from my share and I'm left with 21$. The same happens with Adobe Stock. If I sell a clip for 100$ on Envato, they will deduct 3$, then I got 50% of the rest = 48.5$. If the sale is for a US client, they will deduct 30% of the whole sale, in this case 30$, from my share, and I will be left with: 48.5$ - 30$ = 18.5$ (!) |
