Better than Jan 2022 (Mostly videos)

If I'm going to pay to license a clip, I'll be happy to have the 4K version (4096), even if my project is UHD (3840), as I have some additional space at left and right to adjust the position of the shot as I like.

79
Checked my billing history with Adobe. In 2021 I was paying about 30/ month for all apps. now it's 51.98! a 70+% increase. LOL I guess we're the frogs that just get dumped straight into the boiling water.

Cancel your subscription and you will get another deal (usually 30% off) in a few weeks as a max.

I got 21 cents, my images portfolio is small, mostly snapshots of my 4K videos.

Very impressive! my English is not that good and I wanted to ask a client for a payment in a kind way, I tried ChatGPT:

Prompt: "give me a kind way to ask for my payment from a client"

ChatGPT: "One way to ask for payment from a client in a kind manner is to simply remind them of the outstanding payment and express your appreciation for their business. For example, you could say something like: "Hello, I wanted to remind you that the payment for our services is now overdue. We really appreciate your business and hope that we can resolve this as soon as possible." This approach is polite and professional, and it should help to get the conversation started without offending the client."

Wow...

4 clips were selected by AS, I've nominated 23 only (not my best of course)

My weekly stats at Adobe (video):

EARNINGS
$68.73
POSITION
30,500th

Looks like the position depends on downloads, not earnings. I believe they should use earnings instead...

Sales are normal here...

In my case, they deduct automatically 3$ of payments coming from As and P5, nothing from SS.
Looking at history, they deduct 3$ as a "Maintenance fee" most of the months despite that I have a lot of activity in my account (buy online, use ATM's...)

91
Results from my first DALL-E submissions:

Accepted:

AS   5 of 5
DT   5 of 5
SS   0 of 5

Dall e 1 was introduced in 2021, Dalle e 2 in 2022, one year only and it was much better than e1, so: real competition from these Ai systems may come much faster

Honestly, when were "the arts" ever really a viable career path? :)

Great point although before April 1 2019 happened I was making $140k to $160k/year when you added up my P5, SS, and videoblocks revenue, and I've read that others did much better in stock before the agencies cut pay and started doing direct deals with distributors and buyers leaving us with a few one-off sales.

Today though I would 1000% not recommend it, I think it's borderline fraud that the colleges and universities here still sell those programs as viable career opportunities, we have 16-17 year old high school students going to these career fairs and being told this is a great career opportunity.

Music was a career for some but now unless your big enough to tour you're paying to come to work with that you can make off Spotify, it's worse than stock video.

There's no money in it today, anything arts related but maybe it could be a side gig that pays once in awhile but not a job.

There's no money in free.

I just regret so much not getting out when April 1 2019 happened, could have got out debt free too.

First I have serious doubts that you can go from 160k per year to 0 per month overnight. Secondly, where did you spend all the money? Because those are big amounts. You certainly knew, that wont last forever, don't you have any savings?

Videoblocks closed to individual contributors, sales crashed at my #1 which was pond and SS was never that strong, I kept operating full tilt, upgraded equipment and put in a ton of hours, 18 hour days on the road filming and the upload/tag/repeat.

I didn't see April 1 2019 coming, sure nothing lasts forever but I didn't see warning signs until around March 15th when other contributors started saying sales stopped and the it hit me on April 1, keep in mind taxes, expenses and next thing you know I am pulling out the credit cards, I stayed in way to long thinking I could pull off a recovery and now it's not gonna recover, the market has changed too much, barely a hobby that pays now.

It sure was good while it lasted, was looking at the old tax returns for the paperwork I have to prepare and if definitely was good back then.
I have the same experience with P5, it was my best seller until April 2019 where income dropped from 1500 - 2000$ to 100$ and it's still the same until now. The worst is that I went exclusive at that date and put all my best sellers into my P5 account, and instead of getting more sales I've lost everything. After trying exclusivity for several months I went back to SS and it was a huge loss there as I lost all my videos ranking.
My average monthly income for last year: 100$ P5, 600$ SS(with fewer videos than P5), and 60$ at AS (no editorials which makes big difference)

94
My income this year is 10 cents (Canadian) that's before expenses and taxes.  lol
Level 1 on SS for photos.  Could always be worse, could be Alamy.
Oh, I've had a 2022 sale on Alamy and it netted me a whole $1.20 (US)!

I have 3 video sales at P5 (68.5$) and 1 at AS (22.4$)

95
8 video downloads so far: 36.11$, 2 more sales to reach level 2.
It's easy to calculate the loss with video sales, I was on level 4 last month: 30%, now I'm on level 1: 15%, so my earnings should be 72.22$ this month if I'm at level 4 (30%)  ::)

Shutterstock.com / Re: Email: Shutterstock: Asset Inquiry
« on: October 01, 2021, 23:58 »

I had that asked, looked at the image and never responded.  The next thing I know is that the buyer contacted me directly and I sold the image to them for $450.

Hehe... I wish I did that with those requests that I got before

Alijaber, read the FAQ: Selling or gifting the code is not permitted.

Aha, thanks for clarification

Thanks Mat and Adobe!

I'm subscribed to all apps and I get the single app bonus from Adobe which I will never be going to use, if anyone is interested in buying the single app at an affordable price please PM me (this is legal Mat, right?).
Anyone with a single app (e.g. Photoshop) and would like to get another app (e.g. Premiere Pro) may find that offer to be useful.

Edit: Hmmm, I don't know if the link provided by Adobe will work for any account or only with my account, so I will hold that offer until I get more info.
