When do you stop uploading for the Christmas hols? Would you upload any next week or leave it 'till the new year?

General Stock Discussion / using a map« on: December 13, 2016, 10:49 »
Hello
I would like to use maps of countries or continents in compositions. How do I do this without copying a drawing of a map? I did a very rough globe for some of my pictures, it was basically just a load of blobs so I didn't need to refer to anything. But for a picture with something vaguely resembling the shape of a country or continent - how would I go about it? Drawing roughly around a map would still be considered copying but there's no way I could guess the shape. Thanks Suz 28
Illustration - General / Illustration Designation -- In order for this image to be reviewed correctly....« on: November 21, 2016, 13:52 »
Hi this rejection has happened a few of times on shutterstock over the last year or so:
"Illustration Designation -- In order for this image to be reviewed correctly, resubmit it designated as an illustration. When resubmitting, select "Yes" in the "Illust./Clip-Art" dropdown menu when applying metadata in the content editor." But it is always automatically selected when you submit an eps, with no option to change it anyway Just a glitch, I imagine? I normally resubmit them with no problem 29
iStockPhoto.com / istock worth uploading?« on: September 06, 2016, 01:39 »
Hi I started uploading my pics to Istock and then saw quite a lot of people were leaving and complaining about them.
I don't quite understand what the problem is with them - and before I upload more would like to get a bit more info. I've had my images on SS and FT for ages and don't really have major probs with them. It would be great to have IS as another income source but I'm a bit reticient about uploading without being more sure about image rights and pay, etc Thanks 30
General - Stock Video / video endings and looping« on: August 23, 2016, 03:42 »
Hi,
Could I have your opinions on which is better for microstock, a video that fades at the end, one that ends abruptly or one that is a continous loop? Thanks 31
Illustration - General / jpegs sizes and raster versions« on: June 09, 2016, 09:17 »
Hi, will be submitting vectors (and preparing for lots of rejections!) to istock.
If I use a large jpeg for the preview version, does this risk more images being stolen or is that not really an issue? Just I've got them already around 4000 x 5000 pixels and I'd rather not have to resize them all. And does anyone submit jpeg versions to sell as rasters, on Shutterstock for example? I stopped ages ago but saw some peeps do still. Kind regards Suzie 32

General - Stock Video / motion graphics file requirements« on: April 27, 2016, 02:57 »
Hi, I'm trying my hand at simple motion graphics videos.
I've been using illustrator for vectors and am learning after effects. Am preparing a simple video to submit but am a bit bamboozled by the codecs and containers. Do I use Quicktime? Bit concerned after being told to unistall it. I've got no idea about codecs, etc does this apply to graphics? And do you submit AE files, or rendered files? Or both? Kind regards Suzie 36
General Stock Discussion / poster company selling images?« on: March 14, 2016, 14:57 »
Hi,
Does anyone know if this is allowed? A large amount of my pictures are for sale as posters on this site https://myloview.es/fotomural-dibujo-vectorial-de-la-bolsa-de-plastico-con-la-sombra-no-3207EE9 I'm only with Shutterstock and Fotolia and I know that one picture on this site hasn't sold on SS or FT atall so it's not been paid for. Or this company associated with SS and FT and therefore good for business? 37
General - Stock Video / animation/motion graphics« on: March 08, 2016, 06:28 »
Hi,
Can anyone give advice on starting out with animation videos? I use illustrator for vectors and was thinking of trying animation, perhaps using After Effects? Or can somebody recommend software? How well do they sell in comparison to real life videos? Thanks 38
Newbie Discussion / istock application« on: March 03, 2016, 03:52 »
Hi I am not really new but have had trouble getting accepted at istock.
It's partly my fault as I was a bit hasty submitting images each time. I had two of the three accepted initially but the last one is proving difficult. A couple of years ago I got all ten accepted for the submission process at shutterstock first time round so I assumed istock was the same. I submitted my best sellers at shutterstock, for istock but they weren't accepted. I've waited a year and this time don't want to be rejected again. Does anyone know what happens if you get rejected after waiting a year? Will I have to wait two years?! Would someone be able to look at my shutterstock portfolio and give me an idea which would be suitable? I really have no idea what kind of image they would like. http://www.shutterstock.com/en/cat.mhtml?gallery_id=930721 Kind regards Suz 39

General Stock Discussion / intellectual property release FT« on: December 18, 2015, 03:22 »
Hi I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question
Submitted images to FT and got asked for a property release for a picture with the words CRAFT BEERS, could this be the problem? I see there is a company called CRAFT BEER. All three need the release but one image contained no wording, just beer glasses. Perhaps just they need to see it is my work? Any help much appreciated suzie 41
Adobe Stock / vector declined - too similar« on: September 13, 2015, 06:23 »
Has anyone had vectors rejected for this?
I've got a couple variations of the same picture but in my opinion they are quite different. Have submitted them together at Shutterstock and they were all accepted - I know they are different agencies but it's happened a few times when I've submitted larger batches of images with Fotolia. Does anyone know if I submitted them separately would this happen less? And is resubmitting them an option? Thanks 42
General Stock Discussion / Uploading portfolio to Fotolia - less sales on SS?« on: July 09, 2015, 12:17 »
Hi,
I have about 300 images on Shutterstock and am starting to upload the images to Fotolia. Does anyone have any idea or experience if it could mean a drop in sales at Shutterstock? It's not that I'm earning a fortune, around $40 a month but am a bit reticent to carry on as I just got a sale on Fotolia for 20 cents, less than the minimum at SS. (A bit confused with Fotolia's payment system, thought that their rate had been raised to be higher than SS). Thanks in advance for any opinions suz
