Hi this rejection has happened a few of times on shutterstock over the last year or so:

"Illustration Designation -- In order for this image to be reviewed correctly, resubmit it designated as an illustration. When resubmitting, select "Yes" in the "Illust./Clip-Art" dropdown menu when applying metadata in the content editor."

But it is always automatically selected when you submit an eps, with no option to change it anyway

Just a glitch, I imagine?

I normally resubmit them with no problem

 :)

iStockPhoto.com / istock worth uploading?
« on: September 06, 2016, 01:39 »
Hi I started uploading my pics to Istock and then saw quite a lot of people were leaving and complaining about them.

I don't quite understand what the problem is with them - and before I upload more would like to get a bit more info.

I've had my images on SS and FT for ages and don't really have major probs with them.

It would be great to have IS as another income source but I'm a bit reticient about uploading without being more sure about image rights and pay, etc

Thanks
:)

Hi, thanks colin!

Can I pick all your brains a bit more ?!

Is a seamless loop good because it looks better in preview? Or is it an advantage for the person that downloads them? I've tried to do one and I think it's seamless.

In After Effects I trimmed the work area so that the beginning was the same picture as the end (just by eye), then time lapped it. Then made the video a bit longer so that it looped a few times and made sure again the end and beginning matched and rendered it in Quick time.

It's on Fotolia and it plays continuously without any break. Is this a seamless loop or is there something I'm missing (it would be good to know before I carry on)?

Thanks
Suz :) :) :)

Hi,

Could I have your opinions on which is better for microstock, a video that fades at the end, one that ends abruptly or one that is a continous loop?

Thanks :)

Hi, will be submitting vectors (and preparing for lots of rejections!) to istock.

If I use a large jpeg for the preview version, does this risk more images being stolen or is that not really an issue?

Just I've got them already around 4000 x 5000 pixels and I'd rather not have to resize them all.

And does anyone submit jpeg versions to sell as rasters, on Shutterstock for example? I stopped ages ago but saw some peeps do still.

Kind regards
Suzie :)

Hi

I'm thinking of submitting one of these for istock submission test

Can I have some critique if someone has a bit of time?

And possibly an opinion on which picture is more likely to pass

kind regards
s :)

Hello all,

I've got to submit the last of the three images required to be accepted at istock.

Of these 3 images, which would you submit?

Thanks

That's so kind of you to take the time to give me some advice :)

I've only uploaded one video to shutterstock so far, just to see if I could get the file requirements right. Took a couple of goes but it did get accepted in the end.

I did them in quicktime (i guess we'll just have to wait and see on how that goes) and motion4 and that seemed to be ok. Good to know not all sites accept the same, will look into that.

I do sell some vectors on shuttertstock and fotolia, I'm adapting some of them for motion graphics.

I'll probably leave the AE versions then for now, until I get a bit better at it and can make the files more user friendly.

Thanks again for replying
very much appreciated

Hi, I'm trying my hand at simple motion graphics videos.

I've been using illustrator for vectors and am learning after effects.

Am preparing a simple video to submit but am a bit bamboozled by the codecs and containers.

Do I use Quicktime? Bit concerned after being told to unistall it.

I've got no idea about codecs, etc does this apply to graphics?

And do you submit AE files, or rendered files? Or both?

Kind regards
Suzie
