General Stock Discussion / poster company selling images?
« on: March 14, 2016, 14:57 »
Hi,

Does anyone know if this is allowed? A large amount of my pictures are for sale as posters on this site

https://myloview.es/fotomural-dibujo-vectorial-de-la-bolsa-de-plastico-con-la-sombra-no-3207EE9

I'm only with Shutterstock and Fotolia and I know that one picture on this site hasn't sold on SS or FT atall so it's not been paid for.

Or this company associated with SS and FT and therefore good for business?

General - Stock Video / Re: animation/motion graphics
« on: March 09, 2016, 07:38 »
My next question was going to be - how is After Effects for animation? Thanks for answering!

I learnt it a little bit last year but stopped paying for the whole cc package and just used illustrator.

I sometimes use sketchup for work, but I think 3d videos would be WAY too advanced for me at the moment.

So AE looks like a good option, especially as I could use vectors.

It'll be a long while before I get to do anything as fab as your HUD video, that was amazing!

Thanks for the great advice
suz :)

Hi,

Can anyone give advice on starting out with animation videos?

I use illustrator for vectors and was thinking of trying animation, perhaps using After Effects? Or can somebody recommend software?

How well do they sell in comparison to real life videos?

Thanks :)

Newbie Discussion / istock application
« on: March 03, 2016, 03:52 »
Hi I am not really new but have had trouble getting accepted at istock.

It's partly my fault as I was a bit hasty submitting images each time.

I had two of the three accepted initially but the last one is proving difficult.

A couple of years ago I got all ten accepted for the submission process at shutterstock first time round so I assumed istock was the same.

I submitted my best sellers at shutterstock, for istock but they weren't accepted. I've waited a year and this time don't want to be rejected again.

Does anyone know what happens if you get rejected after waiting a year? Will I have to wait two years?!

Would someone be able to look at my shutterstock portfolio and give me an idea which would be suitable? I really have no idea what kind of image they would like.

Kind regards
Suz

Thanks for info, I think I'll hold off uploading to them for now then!

I know this poll is a bit old, but how did you get on selling vectors at pond5?

I can see they seem to be doing well in the poll results and was thinking of signing up.
Does anyone else have an opinion on them?

thanks

Hi thanks for replying!

So sketchup doesn't render well enough?

Are there any free 3d programmes that do (I imagine not)?

I've got to learn sketchup for work anyway but was thinking it could do for microstock too. But then you say that vectors sell more (mine sell fairly well), so perhaps it's not really worth it?

Does 3d take much longer?

thanks again

Hi, sorry for not replying sooner.

Thank you for replying to me.

Just a couple more questions -

I do vector images with illustrator but am learning to do 3d with Sketchup.

Can you tell me if Sketchup is good enough to do 3d images for microstock?

And which microstocks sites are good for selling 3d images?

Do 3d images sell for more or sell better than vectors?

Kind regards
 :)

Does anyone sell 3D images on stock sites?

Thanks

General Stock Discussion / intellectual property release FT
« on: December 18, 2015, 03:22 »
Hi I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question

Submitted images to FT and got asked for a property release for a picture with the words CRAFT BEERS, could this be the problem? I see there is a company called CRAFT BEER.

All three need the release but one image contained no wording, just beer glasses. Perhaps just they need to see it is my work?

Any help much appreciated

Adobe Stock / Re: vector declined - too similar
« on: September 27, 2015, 09:47 »
Yes I've realized that now even if they are quite different they can get rejected for similarity. And best to be submitted separately. Resubmitted a couple and it seems to be ok. Perhaps they're done by computer?

Thanks for replies :)

Adobe Stock / vector declined - too similar
« on: September 13, 2015, 06:23 »
Has anyone had vectors rejected for this?

I've got a couple variations of the same picture but in my opinion they are quite different.

Have submitted them together at Shutterstock and they were all accepted - I know they are different agencies but it's happened a few  times when I've submitted larger batches of images with Fotolia.

Does anyone know if I submitted them separately would this happen less?
And is resubmitting them an option?

Thanks :)

Thanks everyone for the advice,

Nice to hear also someone is doing the same, I've got about 70 on Fotolia too.

Hopefully it will generate more sales then, I'm going to go on and put the rest on Fotolia (keywording, ...oof)

Hi,

I have about 300 images on Shutterstock and am starting to upload the images to Fotolia.

Does anyone have any idea or experience if it could mean a drop in sales at Shutterstock?

It's not that I'm earning a fortune, around $40 a month but am a bit reticent to carry on as I just got a sale on Fotolia for 20 cents, less than the minimum at SS.

(A bit confused with Fotolia's payment system, thought that their rate had been raised to be higher than SS).

Thanks in advance for any opinions
suz
