Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Search Webinar
« on: February 25, 2020, 09:54 »
Hi Everyone,

I've scheduled a webinar with our Senior Product Manager in charge of search this Thursday, February 27 at 2:30PM PST. It would be great if you can attend. We'll do our best to take as many questions as possible during our 45-60 minute conversation about Adobe Stock search. How you can use the tools to your advantage as a contributor at Adobe Stock. I hope to see you there!

https://www.crowdcast.io/e/search-tips-and-tricks

Mat Hayward

In case I can't be there. Are Titles Searched or not?

I'm sure they said they were during the Keyword webinar... if the top 10 words or in the title then it gives an additional boost (provided you have 49 or less keywords)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Checking in - Adobe Stock Video
« on: January 15, 2020, 13:12 »
Editorial still images and footage would be awesome.

1. Select video thumbnails.
2. Upload editorial.

Both are on my list and I think you'll get both of them.

Of the two, I think editorial is much more impactful to contributors and customers.

Thanks for the feedback.

Dennis

Yes, proper editorial images would be high up there... wasn't sure if he wanted to hear about that or just footage. The existing illustrative editorial is ok but not quite the same as normal news/editorial content that will often include unreleased people.

These two would be great. The thumbnail one has been a while coming but Editorial Footage with unreleased people etc would be excellent 👍🏻

I just went to redeem my code from 2018 but it says it has expired :-\ The email I got back then said I had until July 2021 to redeem it. Is it possible to get it renewed or did I miss out?

Drop AS an email to explain. It came up a little while back and it was an error. They'll check their records an if confirmed, re-issue a new code to you. Happened to me and a few others.

Has anyone else experience huge amount of sales reported on the 31.12?

Yes... and a large jump in $ above. It looks like some in-house corrections taking place on the quiet and hope no one notices 😂

Adobe Stock / Re: How is your December
« on: January 01, 2020, 04:30 »
December for Adobe Stock was terrible.... as in, earrings the lowest I've seen in 4-5 years. It seems like payback for a BME in Oct. Hopefully it picks up as I don't think I could stomach another month like December. Everywhere else was normal, just AS that collapsed.

Same.  A little discouraging.

If there was a "re-indexing" to video, and if this "re-indexing" uses AI to determine rank, and if that AI uses the thumbnail to determine quality and relevance of the video clip, that's seriously unfortunate and unfair since we're not able to (yet) change our thumbnail.

And the default "middle position" thumbnail is often not the best frame to represent clips.

When I looked through the carnage of December at AS, the one thing that stood out was a drop in Footage / Larger value sales. If they've done this "Re-indexing" on footage and with FT closing last month, it could have produced the perfect storm. Can't believe you still can't select the thumbnail, surely that must help them and the customer not just us.

Actually - I think all of your graphs are wrong.
My graph also shows no sales this week, when in fact I have 3 so far.
The AS graph has not updated or is inactive this week.
AS: any explanation?

Yes, seeing the same thing. Something would appear to be broken there.

For me, Adobe Stock have been terrible this month, below SS and IS. Big drop in earnings, worst month in 4 1/2 years. No idea what they've done but it ain't been pretty. The rest have been normal for December.

Not a bad month, $ still climbing after the summer and RPD on the up as well... Better than the same month last year so can't complain at all.

Adobe Stock / Re: Submission issue
« on: December 19, 2019, 02:47 »
I am consistently having problems submitting images for review.
In a batch of, say, 50 images, all have a green check mark.  I press the submit for approval button (twice) and off they go.  I get the green "your files were successfully submitted" flag.
BUT, only, say, half make it to review.  Going back to the "new" folder they re-appear, and will not budge no matter how many times I try.  I usually have to wait a day, and the next day they will likely go through (sometimes the category field gets deleted and I have to re-enter this).
This happens every day now.  Any way to avoid this?  Am I doing something wrong?

Nope, happens to me as well. I find the only way to correct it is to submit 1-2 images and then the green tick marks return to the previously saved files.

Interesting indeed, thanks Mat. Do you know when this approach came into being? The change from one to the other? Thanks

Adobe Stock / Re: Why can't my account use Adobe Stock

You probably need to provide some more information to understand why you're not able to access Stock.

First guess might be that you're in a country where you can't get it?

Adobe Stock subscriptions for Creative Cloud teams may be purchased at any Adobe reseller. Adobe Stock subscriptions and licenses for individuals may be purchased online in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Russia, Brazil, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Cyprus, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Otherwise, this might be a good place to start: https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/help/plans.html

Hope this helps and if it doesn't, could you please verify that you have an Adobe ID and that you're logged in when accessing the Stock page.  Also, if you're in a company or have any kinds of access restrictions on your internet connection, that could be it too.

Cheers,
Dennis

Funnily, today I have barely made a sale and avg would be 40 or so a day but since 11pm yesterday, I've had 4. I've sent a message through to support because it seems as though something is wrong somewhere. I hope so anyway, I made 5 times more last Sunday :o

Everything looks OK to me. I haven't received any other reports. It's likely a browser issue. Try clearing your cache or using an alternate browser.

Good luck,

Mat

I was having problems with the stats page earlier today... when refreshing the page it was almost instant but didn't have anything for today. Left it a while before emailing AS... of course, 5 mins after that it started working again 😂 I have a feeling it was a caching/DNS issue with ISP.

Anything on this?  I haven't gotten any further emails or any other details.  Has anyone?

Nope, nothing received here.

Adobe Stock is crashing and burning.

I've been doing this for years.  I'm in their top 100 contributors.  And my earnings are down around 60-70% from LAST YEAR.  Note that my position in the top 100 is virtually unchanged from the past year, meaning that most other top contributors there must be experiencing the same.

On the other hand, at Shutterstock, my earnings are roughly the same from last year.

same here, top50 2015-2019 and still on the same position but the earning are down between 60-70% from last year and from week to week a little bit more down :/

No! Adobe Stock is NOT crashing and burning. I guess you mean your top position in "Lifetime", but your weekly position is dropping. Is that right? This mean just that there are others who sells better this days. If your weekly positions was unchanged and your income decreases this could mean Adobe is "crashing and burning", but I think this is not the case.

I think you're right.

My weekly varies from 197 - 800 depending on the time of year. My Lifetime rank moves a lot less but is improving. My earnings vary depending on changes to weekly rank.  Income can vary a lot with little to no change to lifetime rank.

I assumed lifetime looks at how much the contributor has made since being with them so you would stay at position 50 until the person at 51 earns more than you. If the ones above you stop submitting or earning as much, you might have to wait until Someone that is earning more catches up. They maybe at position 100 so takes longer for any change in lifetime Rank to occur.

Edit- You can see a drop in income with a small change to weekly rank & that is when everyone is subject to the same thing. Seasonal slowdowns are an example. You could see a drop in earnings after Christmas but weekly rank doesn't change much because everyone is experiencing the same thing.

In the meantime, use a cooling stand with the laptop... the cooler it is the longer it make use of the full CPU power.

Great tip, thanks!!!

NP... you don't need to spend crazy money either. 10-20 will do it. I use an Aluminium one, 5mm thick with plenty of vent holes, acts as a heatsink. For more active ones, look for dual fan ones that have a metal base and a usb power point... normally they offer a USB hub in them as well.

I was watching this youtube video "How to Make Your Mac Faster"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeVPwlbownU

He talks about adding an external eGPU for base model 13" Macbooks. How that makes the machine run a great deal faster for video editing.

I have 15" 2017 MBP with a graphics card - Radeon Pro 560 4GB, Intel HD Graphics 630 1536 MB. I also have 16 GB memory 2133 MHz.

Would I get any performance boost from adding an eGPU? Or would it be for naught since my machine is not a base model machine.

I'm not particularly tech savvy when it comes to tech hardware. I don't do any video editing. Though I do tons and tons of photoshop batching. Like tens of hours every week. I would like to see my photoshop batching speedup if possible.

eGPU is good for video but not as much for Photoshop. What chipset you using. Ideally it should be an i7 or i9 for increased speed as well as higher speed SSD drives for exporting / saving work.

My main Mac is a Mac Pro 2013 6 core but I do use a MacBook Pro 13 2018 with 8gb ram but maxed out quad core i7 cpu. That was faster on photoshop than my dual graphics card 2015 15" MBP 16gb ram. Handles 1gb composite psd files easily enough. If you are already running a hi spec i7 / i9 cpu then it's going to be a maxed out MacMini or good spec iMac.

These are my specs...
Hardware Overview:

  Model Name:   MacBook Pro
  Model Identifier:   MacBookPro14,3
  Processor Name:   Intel Core i7
  Processor Speed:   2.9 GHz
  Number of Processors:   1
  Total Number of Cores:   4
L2 Cache (per Core):   256 KB
  L3 Cache:   8 MB
  Hyper-Threading Technology:   Enabled
  Memory:   16 GB

Also my main hard drive is SSD, and my external hard drive is also SSD.

For general photoshop use you should be more than fine with that. If you are looking for greater performance you'll be moving to a desktop solution.

When it comes to the laptops, cooling is often the biggest killer when running long routines as once the cpu etc heats up, it's a lot harder for it to cool down and as as result, the system will apply throttle so it doesn't cause damage.

My MacBook Pro is great when producing a few 4k clips but as soon as I'm working in bulk, I move to the Mac Pro. You can hear the air it is pulling through the case... great in winter as it keeps the room warm 😂

In the meantime, use a cooling stand with the laptop... the cooler it is the longer it make use of the full CPU power.

Rank varies from 190 to 800 depending on the time of year (not really changed much, down a little probably), earnings for 2018 up on 2017 and 2019 is a fair bit better than both. Had a best day, week & month ever in the last month or two as well. Happy with the progress AS has made on the whole this year.

If it hadn't been for quiet Jul/Aug it would have been an excellent year but, I'll settle for a very good one. Hopefully this progress will continue into the new year.

So now that Fotolia is gone I remember this thread from january :
https://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/better-contributor-site-adobe-stock-vs-fotolia/50/
Other than the it been slightly more responsive, has anything other been improved on AS's contributor site since then?
I got lucky yesterday been able to enter the exact amount to be withdrawn but now this FT feature is gone.
Also it's still ridiculous to make two extra clicks every time you check your latest activity.
What happened?

In last two days I got only subs.. No video sales anymore.. Is this connected with fotolia closure or just coincidence. Anyone else with same experience?

Yes. It's been very quiet since the 5th. There was a bit of a boost in DLs prior to the 5th and now very little in terms of value... small value sales only. I'm hoping this is just a settling in period and once clients etc get used to working with only AS... otherwise, it doesn't look great!

@Chichikov To find an image to edit it or delete it, search in your portfolio (using a relevant keyword), get the Id number, then enter the Id number in "Search by content Id", which is in your dashboard. Then delete the image or edit as you wish.

Asfaik most sites don't have a search for images which aren't online yet, but the above method is pretty simple to find and edit individual images in your AS portfolio.

Hope this helps.

So when I want to create a new collection, I have to go to the portfolio page, search by keyword, write down the ID number, go to my files and search the id number and add it to a collection. Rinse and repeat the 60+ times to add all the files.

Sounds so much better than search files by keyword, ticking all the files returned by the search and add to collection.

This isn't a problem about files not online, it's a problem when dealing with a large batch alteration... whether that's creating a new featured collection, edit keywords or delete.

I have no idea about collections, @Chichikov said he could not find and edit/delete individual images because he can't find them, when in fact it is possible to find images with keywords. No need to write down the Id. use copy/paste.

I'm not responsible for the way AS works but it's been said several times in this forum that there is no method to search ones own portfolio. And I'm just saying there is a way.

A lot of us understand we can search our ports but we can't do anything with the results. If you want to amend one file then the methods you describe are ok but when you have a port 10k, 20k or 50K+ and need to edit files in any volume then the current method is not much help.

FT did and SS does have keyword search facilities that allow you to edit and not just look at the results of the search... so, hopefully AS will do something about this as it is an important feature.

I'm missing the ranking system, the sales data on each image shown on public...

but I don't miss the difficult upload method in Fotolia...

You mean the number of times an image sold? I don't think the number of sales should be visible to the buyer, no need to show that.

Adobe Stock has a long way to go on the contributor side, Fotolia was great in that regard, but it's getting there.

AS are getting better but I do miss not being able to search my portfolio...by keyword rather than id number. That makes no sense as I'd need to find the file first to know what the id number is.

Still can't quite get used to seeing earnings in 's instead of $'s. Even though my currency is 's, I'm so used to seeing earnings in $'s it's weird seeing it any other way.

It's been a very quiet today in terms of sales at AS, hopefully they're not having any problems. Or, more importantly, clients aren't having problems. It's been very good of late and hoping it stays that way  ;D

You can search your portfolio by keyword click the link on the left of the screen marked "My Portfolio" it takes you to your public profile then you can enter search terms in the search bar at the top of the page.

The search then provides matching images in your portfolio only

Cheers... I could be wrong, but, you can't add files to collections from the search results. If I make a collection to, "Feature", I'd like to search the files and then select and add them to a collection. Am I missing something here or is that not possible?
