Matt said once that fotolia stat report include ft views only, if I remember well.
So it could be that from now also Adobe views has been added.
BTW I see great increase of views too

Could be, but, if that were the case I would expect to see it as a metric on the Adobe Insights but when I checked earlier it wasn't.

Humm same here  ???

Very odd

Yeah, very similar pattern here. Except mine has a max of 860+ now from what would normally be 100. So, similar % increase as you.

Same here, since they increased the minimum royalties my sale goes down...Also my FT rank... Very strange...
May be Matt will give us an answer !

Same here.
I wrote on the other thread they became my favorite agency, but I'm not so sure now!

I wouldn't let it cloud your judgement of them quite yet. There have been a couple of times that reporting has gone astray (quite a while ago now) and they've always corrected it quickly. I've no reason to feel they wouldn't do the same with this once they find out what's going on.

Hopefully he will. Glad it's not just me (sorry). Normally they're pretty fast at correcting problems etc so hopefully that will be the case this time. Just feels to be too much of a coincidence. If I hear anything back from support I'll let you know.... in fact, it may well be worth submitting something to just so they realise it isn't a one off case.

I had to check this out, and same behaviour on my account, several hundre views a day, but sales are way down from a while back.

Interesting. The concern I have is the impact on rank.... if this does influence rank, which is more than possible, then it will push down sales volume even further. From my time as an analyst if I were asked to determine image/portfoilio quality I'd certainly look at the numbers of views an image/port was getting and how many sales resulted. Something has happened and it does feel like it's not as it should be.

Let's put it this way, each day my views go up more, my rank seems to drop further along with the number of sales I get!

I've been reviewing the raw data from FT as there has been a strange drop in sales volume / earnings that seemed to happen overnight. When I looked at the data at the time this seems to have happened, I noticed a massive spike in views. As in, from 80-100 a day to 600-800 a day. This started on the 24th Sept, the same day there was an increase to the minimum payment.

Now, on it's own this may seem nothing but, if ranking uses this variable.... i.e. the % of views that turn into sales. Lower % = Content must be poor = lower rank type of scenario, this would account for the sudden drop in rank a few people have mention on another thread. I've sent this query through to FT but it would be interesting to see if others have also seen a large spike in views at this time and whether their sales have dropped / increased or done nothing.

When I see this type of thing at a time we know they have been tinkering with the system gives concern as to whether an error has occurred.

Matt, if you could take a look into this if you see it. The daily views seem be going crazy. Over 800 a day now for me after being steady at 80-100

I don't know why, but my sales stopped on Ft/As and my FT rank has dropped drastically to 22.300

Same, Adobe/Fotolia used to be good, but suddenly stopped selling like normal.. Shutterstock on the other hand doubled sales x 3 the last months. Strange.

The last two days have been terrible (end of Sept wasn't great either), as in down from $40-$80 a day to $16. Don't know what they've done but it feels like it's time to put plan B into action and concentrate on RM now. Hoping this is just a short term blip but it ain't looking good. Certainly not going to spend any time submitting new content to them while there's no sign of improvement. Time is better spent on places that haven't slashed my income.

Big drop for me in September, so I'm assuming there wasa change to the search engine... looks like I missed out from the changes this time round!

$ were a little down this month after good jun/jul/aug. The first half of the month was very good with plenty of footage sales but the 2nd half was poor for footage sales. Vol seem to be the same as the 1st half, just a drop in high value sales. Just a blip maybe. Still way above SS.

Setting a good example to the rest of the industry!!!

Hopefully this will become something that happens every now and again to help contributors offset the effects of inflation.

Have had ok sales with Age.  The good point is that when you get a sale return is better than MicrostockGroup per sale.

Easy to upload so keep on uploading.

very old thread alert...... last post before this was 2016 and it originally started 2011!

« on: August 21, 2018, 01:46 »
Try that: Fotolia.com/contributor. There will appear "page not found". But above you will find the button "log in"

But if you enter the webpage correctly https://www.fotolia.com/Contributor

It's there.... with or without www

Also, google Fotolia and they still have advertised links at the top that take you straight to Fotolia and even the organic links take you straight there to the client side. I think you may have just tried to get to them when they've released an update of some kind and it was still filtering through the dns servers. Certainly still there though.

Just got my code for the full package..... very nice, Thanks AS/FT.... much appreciated!

I'm sorry to be blunt, Dodie, but when you only manage 6 sales a week, you can't extrapolate and declare a site dead, dead, dead.

6 downloads a week is just noise.

You should do at least 20 times better than this, to lift yourself above noise level and get some understanding of ranks, trends and site performance.

I don't mind you being blunt but you don't listen. Of course it is noise, not even that.

I never was such a big player like you but I am not talking about how much but about the direction things turned for me.

It has nothing to do with my "understanding of ranks, trends and site performance", AS simply doesn't perform as FT did and I am not alone in this situation. If it were my fault, other agencies would have tanked too.

I am not talking about event photos which normaly die, I am talking about evergreen subjects like food, which will never die. Photos that reached over 150 dls in a short time in 2015, now they don't exist.

The main reason for this is the lack of Eu market because food photos and not only are region specific (more or less). On SS almost all my sale are in EU and all around the world, just a few US sales.

Despite new uploads the trend is descending:

I can tell you now what triggered the decline for you. The closure of DPC.

This happened in April 2016 and that is when your sales dropped. I remember it well, I dropped about $300-$400 a month after they shut that down and took a while to stabilise and increase again after that. Despite all the negative comments it got, it did return good $'s each month for the couple of years or so it was there. I'd sign up again if it came back.

Edit. The bouncing around from months to month in the 2nd half of 2016 was also due to DPC members having their remainder of credits/subscription transferred to an Adobe account. There was a lot of unhappy DPC customers who left after their credits etc ran out with AS/FT. In 2017, you're seeing the new reality and since then, you have been relatively stable with moderate swings.

I'd wager that your current month will be pants and then Sept will lift again once the summer recess is over, parents back to work and kids at school.

About 60% of my sales are non-us

One of the tech bods told me that the US/Other income split is based on which portal that is used. AS = US and FT = Other. Whether this is correct I wouldn't like to say for sure. Maybe Mat could say?

As far as income. Been a couple of quiet weeks lately but also some really busy ones. Two of my busiest weeks at AS/FT have been in the last month. Last month was my best Jul for 2 years or more. This month is looking good (for August) and hopefully will also be well up on last year.

The thing is, around the UK and Europe, a lot of work holidays always have to be taken in July /Aug and in the UK, all the Schools are off at this time. Most business know they will have lower staff levels and therefore ease back on starting new projects until Sept. While this does not apply across the entire globe, it will have an impact on earnings so I just accept Jul & Aug have potential to be car crash income months....normally with a Boom before and after. It's just the way it is.

My weekly rank hasn't really changes that much (slight fluctuation), overall rank is still getting better.... probably improved more over the last 1-2 months that the previous 2.

All you can do is forget about it, focus on completing new projects and creating plenty of work to upload now and in the coming months!

I've heard this theory with summer month each year, it maybe true for some but I never experienced it, at least on SS.
June, July this year were my BME in 6+ years and last year I only had lower sales in December.

Even with all the hiccups at SS, this August is normal, with just subs though and we still have half a month to go.

At AS however, my weekly dropped today from 6 to 4 and not a single new download.

FT was my favorite, well earner but I don't think AS will ever come back for me so, it's time to move on.

Right now even DP is better.

July at SS was good for me, best it has been (for that month) for sometime, not far off $1k compared to a low of $600 last year. When looking at the Alexa rankings, it does show an increase in web traffic in July and continuing into August. That is after a low in June.

https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/shutterstock.com

AS/FT has performed way better than SS for me, has done for the last 4-5 years. You say your weekly dropped by 6-4? Your weekly rank?  :o

General Stock Discussion / Re: Hierarchy of Hate
« on: July 18, 2018, 12:39 »
Hate is a strong word. Is there a stronger word then hate? I am not sure, English isn't my language. There should be some appropriate scale of words to accurately describe emotions. Would Charles Bronson say "They killed my family, and I hate them more than I hate ShutterStock"?
Right, that's why I used "dislike" instead of "hate" on my post.

Yeah, hate is a word that seem's to be used used way too much these days....the yuth of today either love something or HATE  IT.

Personally, dislike is closer to the truth although I tend to use the word "Annoying", as in they irritate me at times and sometimes they even make decisions that I.... dislike but hate? nah....

Now Storyblocks are being really annoying of late, and they don't sell enough to do that so I am comfortable with making the business decision to remove my work (on 1st Aug). They don't sell enough to loose any sleep over it  ;D

edit, of course they could suddenly triple my earnings and they would become a lot less annoying..... possible mildly irritating.... but I doubt it  :D

VideoBlocks / Re: Commission cut
« on: July 18, 2018, 11:16 »
I'm just going to leave my port there until the 1st of August while I receive 100% and then remove it. I can live without there sporadic / occasional sales. It started off ok but has more or less died a slow lingering death. They spent to much time pushing there subscriptions which they get all the money, and just left the marketplace with very little TLC. No surprise it's failing.

Their search is still terrible as well and naming the company after an existing firm that supplies educational videos was a bizarre move. I'll just put this down to experience in terms of time wasted uploading my port. Given their previous marketing decisions, I don't really want to give them 50% of any sale just so they can screw that up as well.

Microstock News / Re: 123RF upload problem
« on: July 18, 2018, 09:02 »
Yes.  Upload has been broken since Saturday.  They confirmed the problems and said they're working on it.  No ETA for a fix.

Thanks for this.... I just sent a message to their support team as I've had a few hundred images just processing away for the last two days with non of them completing.

Thanks.... sadly, their site is a shambles at the moment. I uploaded 200 images and after 2 days they are still processing!!!

This was the 1st time in a long while and I thought I'd try to bring them up to date..... I don't think I'll bother, I'll be retired by the time they finish them I think!

Even though this is a "gift", I won't go through any hassle (e.g. waiting several weeks, making sure that my older versions of PS and LR will still keep working - and the whole "never change a running system" thing) as long as Illustrator isn't included. I do get along with my older versions of PS and LR. So, ... sorry Mat, IMHO Adobe should either do this right (and equally for everyone) or not at all. Thanks, anyways.

I totally agree, not to mention the automatic renewal of the giveaway plan.

In fairness, in the FAQ's it does explain that you don't have to add credit card details and therefore avoid the automatic renewal scenario. It would just run out.

396
I'm with the vector illustrators and would be very glad to have my giveaway (I qualify for it, yay!) for Adobe Illustrator - sadly Photoshop it's not really useful for me in itself. It's nice news nonetheless, but would be truly great news for us to be able to use it for what we need and work with. Is there any chance to have this changed in the future? :)

Thanks Mat!

I don't think that is in the plans right now but anything is possible with future promotions.  has been noted for sure.

Thanks again!

Mat

Sounds promising Mat.... it really does make a change that an agency gives a little back to it's contributors! Much appreciated!!

It would be good if there was the option 1) Photoshop & Light Room or 2) Illustrator on it's own. That way it would allow vector artists / illustrators benefit from the give away as well!

398
Less than 4 video sales away for the full package, so I may miss out on that one but passed the criteria for the photography package 1st half of January so should be good for that..... very nice offer!!

Is this something AS is considering doing each year?!?! It would be a nice bonus to work for!!

399
I would like to see greater control over the time period. I would want to compare months (rather than just weeks) and also compare one month to the same month of the previous year.

I would also like to see stats around keywords searched on for each file. How did the client find the image, what keyword brought them there.

Nice start.... but, it really is very, very basic at the moment and wouldn't really gain much interest compared to the FT data. That data can be downloaded and used for my accounting whereas the AS stats at this point don't come close to being able to do that.

Did this all change? I see the current date on top and selection for how far to go back on bottom. Makes sense. Also many choices?

Waiting for more...  :)

I tried a "From" date of Dec 2017 with various "To" dates of 2018 and it just returns "Please enter a valid time range." In fact, any date. Hence the reason for my first post.

Turns out the "From" date has to be more recent that the "To" date?!? Seems backwards, surely "From" is the earlier of the two dates, and "To" is the end date.....like it is with FT data page! That could do with being changed round to avoid confusion. Just assumed it wasn't available yet.
