Newbie Discussion / Re: Copying keywords from Shutterstock?
« on: June 03, 2015, 02:38 »
Thanks BaldricksTrousers,

I might try your suggestions.

I wonder if this problem is due to Shutterstock or maybe it is just my IPTC editing software that is defunct.

Newbie Discussion / Copying keywords from Shutterstock?
« on: June 03, 2015, 00:58 »
Hi,

I have so far keyworded my photos after submitting to Shutterstock, but started just to keyword before submitting by editing IPTC data.

I tried to copy keywords from my already accepted photos from shutterstock, but run into troubles.  This is what a copied set of keywords look

cold, freezing, form, natural, white, new, sample, seasonal, hol
celebration, frosty, icicle, black, ice, abstract, macro, snowfl
hoarfrost, season, stiffened, decorative, cool, design, color, w
weather, crystal, frost, decorating, background, snow, nature, p
structure, glass

There seems to be an issue with line changes.  Is there a way to copy keywords from shutterstock without messing the set of keywords?

Thanks in advance.

Henri

Thank you Michael,

a software I have already subscribed for focus stacking turned out to have a free extension for editing IPTC data, so I'll give it a go first.

Just one fast question more.  IPTC data has a number of fields like description/title/caption/headline that could all be used for "title information".  Which one should I use to get the job done?

Thank you very much,

Henri

Thanks dirkr,

this is all fairly new to me.  So if a software has the capability of editing IPCT data for keywords and titles it is good for the job?  I just edit these fields with Irfanview and can submit the photos then to major microstock agencies and the keywords and titles will be there without further editing in the agencies.  This is the firts time I hear about IPCT, so I might ask the wrong questions?

Is there anything else important that I should know about keywording with Irfanview for many agencies at once.  I am thinking about maybe there are differences in the number of keywords accepted in different agencies or ordering of the keywords affect search results differently or maybe phrases are not accepted by all agencies, case sensitivity or other stuff I am not even aware of.

Thanks for your fast answer dirkr.  I think I will just download Irfanview and will then find out these things myself, but any help is appreciated very much.

Hello all,

I was just recently accepted for Shutterstock and have now uploaded my first 100 photos.  So far I have been editing the keywords in SS after uploading the photos to SS.  I am planning to submit also to some other microstock agencies and don't want to do the keywording individually for each agency.  So I need some software to do the keywording before uploading, but don't know how to accomplish this.

I was told that Lightroom would be a good software for this purpose, but my computer has 32 bit Windows and new Lightroom needs 64 bit Windows to install.  I tried keywording in some software I have already installed in my computer, like ZoomBrowser, but the keywords entered in ZoomBrowser did not show after uploading the photo to SS.  Is there a good free software that gets the job done?  Or if I need to buy a software how do I know that SS and other agencies accept the keywords entered with this software?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks very much in advance, Henri
