« on: April 12, 2016, 12:54 »
thank you so much!  I did a search in the forum and for help and nothing came up.   Not sure why the search engine brought up 0.  Going to email myself this link.

These are documentary editorial photographs.

So I got this rejection:  Editorial Caption--Image requires proper caption when I used the same caption as I-stock.

Is there a place on their website where they list the format they want?  Searching the forum brings up nothing.

Anyone else having issues uploading to BS?

I upload my image and ten nothing happens.  Nothing in the place to edit and submit.  I have not reached my limit of submissions based on approval rating.

I wish they would fix this.

So SS accepted my credentials and now I have to upload my first batch of editorial images.

They told me to upload everything in one batch and then put a note to reviewer with number of my credentials for whole batch.  Will there be a drop down menu for this with a place to enter the number?  When I upload commercially, there is a drop down menu to go to reviewer but option is limited and allows one not to say anything.

I am not FTPing images but using web to upload at this point.

Even when uploading single images at a time, the system still does not recognize that one has put in all the right data and says need more info.  Not sure I want SS to get rid of BS.... actually making more money on BS than SS.

Thanks.  I was not even taking them for the people there but more for stock photos but a nice bonus.  :-)

Which place does the best quality prints: Red Bubble, Zazzle or FAA?

I did a bunch of photos of a sporting event and some of the people there want prints.  The custom lab where I used to do all my art printing closed down so just want an easy place to send them that won't do shoddy prints.

Pond5 / Re: Pond 5 review changes
« on: March 27, 2016, 00:23 »
I had a decent approval rate there and then suddenly hey started rejecting everything, inc. photos that were accepted and selling everywhere else (SS, FT, DT, BS...)  I wrote them and got back some canned bogus response,  I deleted all my portfolio there because other sited have better sales for me and honestly, I would rather spend my time photographing for sites that have better sales than waste any more time with Pond5.  If they get their act together, maybe but right now, Pond5 is a waste of time.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Editorial credentials

I already have permission from the club owner to photograph the event for posting editorial images n stick photo agencies.  What kind of things do I need to include in the paper she signs to show that I have the credentials for the agencies?

213
FAA needs to spend more time building clientele to buy prints not new products.   Instead they expect contributors to promote FAA.

My sales with Fotolia are doing a lot better than SS.  FT is my 2nd venue now.  Still a ways behind my best selling venue but my portfolio on FT is much smaller.

The other benefit for me of FT is that the images that are accepted the most are the ones I most like to shoot whereas with SS I find myself going for something less exciting to me as a photographer.

Does anyone have a link to a generic PDF file we can use for getting a club to sign off for editorial credentials for their events?

Bigstock.com / Re: Bigstock keywording format changed
« on: March 20, 2016, 13:30 »
I get the not ready almost every time even though all information there before and after the change.

Review times are MUCH longer now.

Also they have changed their reviewers, the weekend reviewer from SS has been moved to BS, or their standards have changed or a combo.   Almost all my images were approved on BS and now almost none....including ones already approved on SS (plus everywhere else).  Bogus reason.  Hard to imagine BS has lighting standards so different than SS but seems like it.  Might take a pause uploading there if this keeps up.

In case anyone else is wondering, I-stock is having issues with log in on site right now --  it is on their end not ours according to what they said via phone.  They hope to fix it soon and said do not try to reset passwords etc and keep trying-- will notify people via twitter and other places when fixed.

Anyone else notice that keywording for Bigstock hanged in the middle of today?  They cut out the description line and it looks a lot more like SS actually.

release. I acknowledge and agree that I have no further right to additional Consideration or accounting,

Do we have to fill in a number here in a number here if 0 money passed hands (like if property belongs to photographer, family or friend  and there is no expectation of getting paid like with paid models.

They do several times what BS does for me. Although I did stop uploading to BS a while ago in protest over SS giving out a much lower comission than on the main site and penalising people who already uploaded to BS with the bridge program.

How does SS  penalize people who upload to BS?

Adobe Stock / Re: Weird review times at Fotolia
« on: March 07, 2016, 14:16 »
That makes sense why they might be out of order.    Just was weird to get emails about photos at the same time from batches separated by at least a week or what at least feels like more.

Has anyone gotten some weird delay in review process at Fotolia?  I am getting some images accepted/rejected later than a series of more recent images..weeks.  Very odd.

Pond5 / Re: Pond 5 review changes
« on: March 06, 2016, 15:36 »
I used to have rejection rate a little less than Shutterstock and Fotolia-- now they are rejecting 100%.  Ridiculous because m images are different even if similar subject matter (same animal).  I wrote to them and got a pre-scripted nonsense response.  I removed my portfolio and will not be uploading to them unless they get some sense.   At this point I am having much better sales at several agencies and 0 sales there.

The reasons the curator gave were bogus.  They said things like not sharp 1:1 and not bad at even 200%-- sorry they were sharp and accepted at SS and FT without a sharpness issue so just a fake issue.

It is sad because I thought Pond 5 might be a good place to combine my art longings and stock, They are not.   The images closer to my main photographic interest are selling elsewhere so I do not care to waste my time with Pond 5 until they get some sense.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Rejected - no resubmit
« on: March 01, 2016, 12:05 »
There is an appeal system Scout that you get to through messaging them.  you can only only ask 3 per month.

Were they rejected for technical reasons or copyright issues?  Istock is very strict on copyright issues, even in editorial submissions at times.

There is a balance between accepting everything and accepting only images with a certain look that automatically kicks out artistic images that, egads,  have shadows, intentional motion blur etc.  While the review process, I assume, is supposed to help the client by guaranteeing quality, I am so bored by some of these sites where a lot of the images all look the same.   Accepting all leaves it more up to the client to choose but it does allow for more artistic imagery which is a plus in other ways.
