Reality.  With so many people or their spouses out of work due to pandemic, some people simply cannot afford to close of any avenue of income-- it can mean the difference between being able to eat or not.

You can bet SS knew that and used the timing to their advantage.

That being said, earnings on SS are pathetic.  Sales with low earner agencies now overtaking SS. I just had 1 sale on new to me agency---that sale alreadhy more than made on SS this month.

I am not uploading new work to SS.  As soon as sales with new agencies add some income, wil lbe ditching SS.

52
It is now taking me months in SS to make what I am making with other agencies in one moth or less.  SS is not worth my time and not uploading there.  I Miss the income I used to get from SS but seriously, it is taking too long to get to what I used to make there in a month under their new pricing-- not worth the time to upload anything new to SS.

They reject a lot of my best images as "unsaleable" but they sure sell other places so my portfolio there is left with mostly images I do not think will sell.  Never had a sale.  Waste of time.

54
Is it possible to delete individual images and how?  I have stopped uploading there but I need to keep what is there that is not selling elsewhere because pandemic has really hurt my family.  Still, I would like to delete the good images that are selling elsewhere.  Leave them with the junk.

One public figure who writes all the time about issues like this is Robert Reich.  If somehow we can get him to know the story of what SS is doing, he might spread the word.

NYT (New York Times) wants to know if workers are paid fairly.  Might be a good chance to have NYT look at Shutterstock and what they just did.

Shutterstock.com / Guide to deactivate portfolio
« on: June 15, 2020, 10:14 »
Would someone please post guide to deactivate portfolio on SS?  No comments just an easy to find guide for those of us who want to deactivate today without having to comb through all the threads to find it again.  Thank you.

I would hope it would not be an agency that sells out to another one.  Too many businesses start and then get swallowed.

I stopped uploading new images in May.  Waiting to disable til I reach payout.  Can't wait!  Had a great sale of $0.11 today.  No thank you!!!  I wish I could disable individual photos... have some very good sellers that I have only photos on that area-- do NOT want them selling for $0.10.  Is there any way to delete single images?

If they make disable the disable portfolio ability, they might inspire more contributors to leave for good.  i really do not care what I do once I reach payout.  I am done with SS.  Years of work but I no longer care to associate with such an abusive company.

62
All sales at $0.10.  Removing my portfolio/leaving as soon as I reach payout.  Unacceptable.

Same here-- $0.11 sale.  Waiting to reach payout (soon) and then leaving.  Stopped iploading new images after announcement.

Adobe Stock / Do not understand illustrative editorial on AS
« on: March 02, 2020, 12:27 »
Would someone please explain to me why photos of ballot box (has logos etc from US county doing election, no recognizable person) etc are not illustrative editorial images?

Rejection: File is not illustrative editorial

It's not just similiars.  I submitted several landscapes and all were rejected for being out of focus.  They are not out of focus.  The images are sharp enough 1:1 that one can tell the plant species is this not that from the tiny leaves (tiny even at 1:1 but in focus).  All these images were accepted at other agencies-- many which tend to be MUCH stricter about focus.  Maybe the very front tiny section foreground is not as pristine focus as the actual subject.  Between lens used and aperature used, and focused on subject not elsewhere, even a computer should get it.  Or if it was done by computer, there is a glitch.

Frustrating but in the end it is their loss and gain for other agencies.

Sudden change-- typically 99-100% of my work accepted for some time at SS and elsewhere.  Then BAM, SS rejects all for out of focus (when not).

Very slow for me right now and past few months -- and getting less per sale.

Also, I upload new material more interesting that sells elsewhere but seems like certain images sell over and over on AS, but new material not so much, even material selling elsewhere.  What sells on AS not necessarily what sells elsewhere.

Shutterstock.com / commas not separating keywords on web upload
« on: August 19, 2019, 15:08 »
I cut and paste keywords.  Now SS is not reading commas and makes whole group 1 keyword.  Now have to type in each word individually.  Anyone else having this problem who uploads on web?

Would happen when trying to rest mouse hand and fingers.   :(  Time consuming.

Ask the family.

Only personal experience is this:

A couple of months ago,  my cat died.  Not an accident-- expected-- cancer.  I cannot look at my photos of him right now because I still miss him so much.  But I am glad I took them and they are there.  I have not taken them down.  I took one photo on his last day.  I adore the photo because it captures his fierce will to live.  The last month was all about balance -- honoring his determination to live while not letting him suffer.  I shared photo with the 2 vets who helped us at end and some friends. I will probably never put it on stock but some day, it will be included in my art portfolio.  I do not mind it if someone buys photos of him-- he was my heart and soul once in a lifetime cat.  The idea of others appreciating his photos, other than that very personal one, would make me happy.  I just would like maybe not to see them a lot as part of my personal life at this point in time.

Adobe Stock / How to tell what specific images sell per day?
« on: April 18, 2019, 17:21 »
Is there any way to check which image sales for one day.  The daily earnings report email only shows one photo but from $ amount sold I am assuming I had more than 1 image sold not just one shown.

The insight tab provides no insight into my own sales, it only shows featured artists.  The title of that tab should be labeled something other than Insights.

I am a little frustrated.  What I sell on AS is very different than what I sell on SS and elsewhere so it is really helpful to know what sells so that I can shoot with different clientele in mind.

« on: March 29, 2019, 22:17 »
Disappointed.  I do not want to see my best sellers.  I want to see what is selling.  I have been getting one email with image of one photo only though sold more which I can tell through total $$ figure.  I like to see what particular images are selling.
I liked getting indovidual emails.  Sure would be nice to get that option back even if it is opt in.

I'd like to see ability to cut and paste button once approved.  A couple of mine got approved by accident because they already had automated category and keywords which were totally wrong.  Also occasionally use a period instead of comma between keywords and then it is a real pain to correct.

Fotolia!  I have been trying to delete some photos uploaded but not submitted.  Deleted keywords etc like they said--- nothing.  Only thing I do like about AS presentation is bigger images.   The rest is not user friendly.

Sales might be better if they actually reviewed submissions.  Been waiting about 3 months to have last batch reviewed.
