Shutterstock.com / SS Security Issues with images
« on: September 18, 2017, 10:51 »
Yes you heard that correct, here we are working day and night for years to produce stock photos and shutterstock security is so week that you can download the image on this website by giving original image URL: shutterdowner dot kom

Is there any way to stop this nonsense?

Hi All,
Today, I was redirected to ESP automatically but there is still no option to see my unpaid earning. Can anybody guide how to do so? I triedl to click on Royalties but it says "Royalties data will not be available until your first transaction has occurred. Please try again next month"

« on: December 27, 2016, 13:23 »
Hi All,
I uploaded 94 images on 25th and 85 are approved without any email or notification, one of those were sold few hours ago but when I click on that image or any other image it giving me this error.

"This image is pending approval or doesn't exist"

Is this normal or something is actually wrong there?

Hi All,
Shutterstock have the new option for buyers to select 2 images pack for $29. Can you estimate how much a contributor will get in that case? http://www.shutterstock.com/subscribe?clicksrc=full_thumb

We are normally getting $1.88 if buyer sign up for 5 images pack but this is new case.

Thank you all in advance

Search changes algorithms should be made mostly to promote new material saving buyers to see the same old pictures over and over again. To give files exposure and a chance of selling which should be a positive thing
Changes in micro-stock and especially by agencies like SS and even Adobe are made purely for one reason in the hope of increasing profits and in the case of SS trying to satisfy shareholders.
Thats a vast difference from a sort order change trying to benefit both agency and contributors.

Seems to be that the longer it goes the more SS is falling into the trap of the Getty way to never give their contributors an even and fair break.

This is excellent analysis since it is festival season so SS is offering all new wave of images to buyers but strangely all sales are .25 cents

Yes, this is a huge change after few months down. In my case, I am making good sales with my newly submitted images as usual. The new image sale was down from last 2-3 months.

Adobe Stock / Re: Account BLOCKED - Fotolia top contributor
« on: October 31, 2016, 13:17 »
Thank you guys for help! Adobe/Fotolia resolved the issue, Fotolia moderation team blocked me due to the slack emojis I have submitted few weeks ago, and I have found out the problem was with e-mail system they had not received my e-mails sent on 18th Oct.

Thanks to @MatHayward for unblocking my Fotolia account.

So the copyright was the real issue behind as I doubted earlier. Congrats for getting your port back, I can understand how hard it is to build one...

This is very serious concern for all contributors working day and night to provide professional contents to these big enterprises. As what I see in your profile, it looks like you were working in vector and something got hanged due to copyright issues, just assumption not blaming anything on you at all.

Someone Inside SS is helping FT to become No. 1 for sure....

Thanks!

I would try to review a bit your keywords...

Not sure how to give you the link to my alamy port but you can go through my fotolia portfolio, the keywords are all same.

Could be anything: Alamy's customers don't always buy the sorts of images you can get cheaper on the micros, they are slow sellers (I had over 800 before I got my first sale) or it could be your keywords, or any number of other reasons; but where's your port so we can check?

You can check the images on my SS portfolio link below.

« on: September 26, 2016, 12:01 »
Hi All,
I've about 600 images on alamy and I've received 2986 views - 6 zoom but never got any sale, Is it still keywords fault or just the Alamy slow sales?

Thanks!

Yes, I also got my pictures accepted in less than 1 minute time after uploading and only 9 rejections out of 99 photos. I resubmitted them and they were also accepted. Looks like someone in shutterstock is helping FT to become number 1 in poll results...  ;D

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia will soon cross SS in Top Tier list
« on: September 01, 2016, 10:35 »
I don't see Fotolia passing SS anytime soon, but my sales there have probably doubled since Adobe took over.

My prediction was hard to believe but thanks to SS Engineers they are making it true by giving 3-4 flaws on site every week. You can see changed stats on the right too :)

46
All of sudden today, when I try to access my port it is giving me this strange message: This contributor has no active images in their portfolio.

SS is actually going to ruin their brand t give fotolia more changes to become number 1.. Anyone else having the same issue?

Adobe Stock / Re: More US buyers
« on: August 29, 2016, 05:27 »
Today I was checking my fotolia statistics and found I get more than 60% sale from US than from any other country.
Is Adobe more focused towards US area :)

Can you explain how to check these stats in fotolia dashboard?

Newbie Discussion / Re: Mad about the stock business.
« on: July 20, 2016, 06:36 »
Just for thoughts. Everyone seems mad about  Istock changing rules of the future images sales, not making enough money on images, sells slowing down, the man ( stock sites getting to much money and so on.. You are all right, but here is a way I thought about the business this morning. I have been doing stock for about eight years. I have generated about $70,000 dollars in this time. OK this is not a living but the ROI is really not that bad if you look at it this way. I averaged about 2000 images over those years. Clearly at first less images and now much larger than 2000 images. If you do the  math I have made about  about 35.00 dollars per image over this eight years time. I would say that I get at least three images per photo session. Each photo session  with uploading averages about one hour of time. So making about 105.00 dollars per hour is really not bad as a part time gig. I should get more ROI as the years go on.. Yes my sells have slowed downed also over the last year  even as I increase my portfolio size. So I say to you  close down your Istock accounts . You all  seem to know only  how to complain about this business.    Please close down your accounts as I will continue to make about 105 buck an hour.

You have made 105 bucks an hour because your port is very nice and above average. I helps newbies to get motivated more..

"I think there are plenty of pros and amateurs who were able to recognize the shifting trends, adjust, and do very well. It's the people who were either unable or unwilling to make the necessary shift who completely got out of photography. There's still plenty of opportunity and money in photography for people with the right mindset and skills." Wasn't that always the case? Hasn't it always been a very hard profession to be successful in?

Very well explain the business :)  couldn't agree more

For me, I earned more on SS than FT only the first two months, when I started with this. After that, FT was my #1 earner, even with less sales.  Although, June and July are very poor for me on FT...

Fotolia is doing better in terms of price most of the time. I get $1 on average for each sale while on SS I hardly get $1.8 or $0.88 sale. Most of the time they are $25 on ss.

Finally, fotolia crossed IS and will bash Alamy too in few weeks...
