Sorry, could anyone explain what this "Global partner program" is about?

It's a sort of distribution to a group of resellers with lower (I guess) pricing.

Why not simply read the info about it on the P5 website rather than speculating - and getting it wrong?
Because speculating is great fun :-)
;D of course - I knew there would be an obvious reason!
By the way, couldn't find any info on P5 website
Yep, it's there - were you signed in and are you a contributor?

If it's RF - absolutely no problem - RM could be a problem, though technically wouldn't be - if you see what I mean.

Don't worry about discoverability. Just ignore it.

The system hasn't the slightest idea if an image has good discoverability (is that even a word?) It simply checks the number of keywords and maybe that other fields have been filled in.

Don't put in 50 for the sake of it - that will lower your rank and give you worse discoverability

Of course, as per usual, IMHO

Yes, sir. I have already discussed this with them.

"Hello,

I am a contributor. I want to sell some RM photos but they were once sold as RF on Shutterstock and Dreamstime.
Is it okay to delete them from those sites and then list them as RM? Do I have to wait 30 days or anything?"

Their response:

"That wouldnt be a problem neither there will be a waiting period, you can just delete them immediately from the other sites and upload at Alamy straight away.

Hope this helps."

Well, and wow.

First of all angelawaye, apologies from me. You have totally done the right thing and contacted them and done as they advised.

Alamy have changed their stance on this. I had some RF on Alamy from the very early days. When they changed their rules on RF to not having any non MR or PR material in the picture - they deleted my images off their site because they had sold (on Alamy) as RF and they would not then sell them as RM. (where it is OK to have non MR people in the image)

So looks as though they have changed their rules - pity they didn't let us know.

Once again, sorry to have questioned your images.
Good luck with your sales.

I think Macro demands very special images that can't be found on Micro.

I took off 3 of my very best (unique) selling micro images and put them on Alamy RM. People email me all the time asking for them and where they are. Once I point them to Alamy - it gets quiet.

They have not yet been downloaded on Alamy... I'm not sure what this says about Macro but I'm sick of the downhill spiral of micro so I'm willing to take the chance... It is just getting worse and worse every month. So I'm going to try ArcAngel, Trevillion and Offset. I may not get accepted but I'm going to give it my all.

Oh dear, have you told Alamy you are putting images on their site as RM which have previously been selling as RF. Oooppps.

General - Stock Video / Re: Pond5's discounted sales price.
« on: January 15, 2017, 07:32 »
Most of the discounts that are seen are the discounts given to customers who have bought a membership package and want to buy a clip which is not in the membership plan. They are given an automatic discount - which is "usually" 10%

I would advise that if you want to circumvent this, simply raise your prices - that's what I did.

In fact I've raised my prices by 10% 3 times this last year as I have not seen any slowdown in sales each time I did it.
This last 12 months I've noticed that prices have generally gone up and contributors who still insist on pricing at low levels are simply throwing money away.
This is IMHO of course.  :D

Either way, it takes some doing to appear in that list.....respect!

I got in it once - but that was before the invention of the drone  ;)

I see what you mean.
You mean you have some videos which are in top grossing sellers of the week. That's great.

I thought you meant that YOU were in the top grossing sellers each week! Different thing altogether.

Sorry for my misunderstanding.

My prices are double the average pricing and I'm in the top sellers (revenue) every week/month. It's very hard to pinpoint exactly which number to go for but going way above average doesn't seem like something you need to be afraid of.

How do you know you are in the top sellers every week?

I know it's only a short time, but since I upped my prices by 10%, my sales haven't missed a beat. Nice to see the odd 4K at the new price too.
This is on the backdrop of most being in the membership program - so, at least for me, that hasn't affected individual sales at all. P5 is back on top by a very good margin now - even though SS are breaking records as well.......I love video!

Yeah, I need to up my HD price a little quicker. Pointless selling for less than necessary.

Good idea Pablito. Let us know how you get on.  There are plenty of people who would love to see this working for you.  BTW what price did you begin with?  Are we talking $10 or vastly more?

Hi UKStock,

$10 "You cannot be serious!" (to be said with a J.McEnroe accent)

Like you I'm full-time at this. I've been a full-time RM stills guy at Getty (and at Ace & Telegraph Colour Library before Getty had heard of Stock Photography & Corbis R.I.P.(from the day they started - as Continium).
Now it's full-time video.
I started @ $120 for HD then because of pricing pressure I reduced to $60 and am now creeping back up. Basically HD sells 'sans problem' up to $79. I've put 4K (actually UHD) at $150 and get enough sales to know that can be a minimum.

What's your pricing strategy?

It is remarkable this: "raise your price and not only income but actual number of sales increases"

I've heard one guy raised his prices by over 120% and actually makes more sales - never mind more income.

I'm happy with my income and so don't want to risk rocking the boat - also I'm a cautious soul - so I only raised my prices by 10% and, lo and behold, I make the same number of sales (they haven't increased or decreased)

So I just gave myself a 10% rise. If things remain steady over the next month I'm going to give myself another 10%.

Slightly out of topic.
Are all of you submitting just still image at Alamy, or there is actually anyone there submitting video?
Any video sales there?

I heard someone with an East Sussex type name on another thread, a short while ago, state emphatically - that video has 100% had it (as in: had it's chips) - think the term was "race to the bottom"
Personally I don't believe a word of it.

There is a blog of Alamy about changes to restrictions. Its from a few weeks ago. In that blog they mention that the new contributor tools are coming somewhere in september. So i guess till then for sure no changes.

Mirco

Thanks Mirco,

I've just re-read the Alamy restrictions blog post and can't see any reference to "new contributor tools are coming somewhere in september".
Mind you, my wife tells me I can never find anything.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Contributor Site now live!
« on: September 24, 2016, 02:27 »
Hi Matt:

Thank you for that info.
You say: "Since you can only sync on the first visit I felt it was important to emphasize the importance."

You are talking about syncing and retaining and losing rank - first I've heard about that, so could you explain exactly the process, as you say it has to be done right first time.

So; I contribute to fotolia directly on the fotolia site. I have an Adobe ID because I have bought plenty of Adobe software.

Do I now go to: https://contributor.stock.adobe.com/  ?
It says "Contribute Now (beta)" and "sign in with Abobe account"

Is this the place to be to do this syncing?

I don't want to go further at this stage before knowing exactly what will happen

Will there be a place to request syncing of fotolia account? Is it obvious?

Cheers, Pablito

« on: August 11, 2016, 05:23 »
Hi Mirco,

I remember you talking a while back about Alamy starting an RF editorial section and Alamy in fact announced it was going to happen later this year, here on MSG.

Well, they have just announced changes and an editorial classification. Do you take this as it's now possible to send RF to Alamy as editorial without MR or PR.

Alex,

I was with Image Source for many years and was invited in by Christina (in the days of transparencies) you did very well for me but I never got my transparencies back and things went silent when I spoke about them.

Can I PM you to get you to look into this for me and to find out what happened to my work?
