Meanwhile in Prague, the whole company in one place enjoying their vacation ...Guess who? Pond5

Why would anyone give their files to this bunch in hope they will sell it?  :o

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10154323719409972&set=p.10154323719409972&type=3&theater

Employee says: "I'm starting to Realize-that I have a job! Not recommended for everyone, but this one rocks! #emptychairismine - in Prague, Czech Republic."

Ha ha, just incredible ... on eternal vacation while living on our 50%.
Got to love Pond5!  ::)

If you don't like them, why would you sell your files in their site? Why wouldn't you market them yourself?
This is the reality in every business. I think 50% is fair enough. Start growing apples and see what happens  :P

I did it! I pulled all of my ports. No complaining about getting screwed over by these thieves. I will not be give my work out for free (that's sure how it feels) any longer.

I wish many others will follow you.

Me too. Less competition is always good.

Hmm, dear Dumc I sold last month only one image for $1,000 how many times I must sold this image on SS or any other micro stock  pages? If is for $0.35 it is over 2, 850 times,  hahahahaha ;) enjoy less competition and support rich people in luxury Manhattan offices ;( ;(  I do not think you have lunch, drink, fun time, gym, snack, coffee and many others extras for free in photographers position ;( ...or maybe???...... ;);) ....good luck anyway

For me, it's a matter of consistent monthly income. I'll be happy if that number goes high...

It's no joke. I really quit. I'm busy working on more dignified and lucrative pursuits. Believe it or not.

If you really quit, why to waste more time persuading others? Now you even don't get pennies.
Good luck with more dignified and lucrative pursuits.

Hehe! Wow are you going to defend getting pennies? Well good luck to you too. You must be some Shutterstock/Istock goon or whatever..

I'm not defending anything. However, if I decide to leave, I won't waste my time to persuade others to do the same. It sounds very much like you are lying here. You just want others to stop. Less competition is always good, as Dumc already said.

and buying 50.000 bmw is not too much?

Different people/cultures/countries have different priorities.

...find something more rewarding to do with my time.

I have the same feelings. Forget about the production cost, this cannot even compensate your time now. So it is definitely the time to find something more rewarding to do with our time.

Sometimes variations help to have consistent sales throughout the year.

Hello everyone. I'm Alex from Serbia and I'm newbie on this forum, but not new to stock photography.

The question is next:

Over a time of almost 3 years, I've been uploading stock photos to 5-6 different agencies, but I haven't put much effort into it, so on every of those sites, I have approx. 200 images in portfolios. Over that time, I have earned about $600 totally, which is ok for how much effort i have put into it.
- Now I want to put it to the next level and start serious uploading. One thing I learned from not being frequent is that on some agencies (Istock, Dreamstime, Fotolia), the earnings stop increasing as soon as I stop being frequent in uploading new photos, and agencies like Shutterstock, Photodune still keep going even if I don't upload for months, by Shutterstock being the best at it.

What I was wondering is, will my photos maybe be seen better by buyers if I cancel all of my accounts and start from beginning, or should I just keep on with this accounts and be more frequent? It may seem crazy, but I don't know their philosophy of showing your pictures to buyers, as that definitely changes by how frequent you are, more on some sites and less on other...

Thanks in advance!
Alex

If you have some files which generate regular sales, there is no reason to delete them. They have already made a good progress in search rankings. There is no guarantee they will be seen by customers even if you upload the same file to same site. Search position is some thing very important, IMO. There are so many excellent work that never being discovered.

If you really need to delete files, delete those low quality files which never generated any sales. However, there is always a better chance to get them downloaded when they are online, compared to lying on your HDD. So, my advise is don't delete any, just keep uploading.

Dear Ladies and Gents.
While we are all entitled to our own opinion, please lets tone down the swearing and name calling. I would love to continue this discussion in a positive manner in the comments section of the post on my site. Don't just sit around with your complaint buddies and shoulder pat each other on this forum. If you mean the things you say, put it in a good argument, and I will happily respond.

Now any five people can make a post a "Great Post". I think many people miss that "-" vote here...

My RPD at istock, including subs it's about 4.7 dollars/image.

Seems this is an averaged value rather than the lowest value...

I see that last time status e-mail didn't arrive, i simple found my new images online in my port. Or they stopped to send them?

Probably some images of the batch are still pending. You won't get an email till all the images are reviewed. Reviewed images can go online.

Adobe Stock / Re: Worth to Put Hi-Res on Adobe/FT?
« on: October 08, 2015, 19:36 »
You are paid a 33% royalty based on the price paid per image. This price varies in different subscriptions at both Adobe Stock and Fotolia. The $3.30 rate you are seeing comes from individual sales at Adobe Stock. The cost per image is $9.99 so you receive 33% of that. On the other end of the spectrum, with larger sized subscriptions, the cost per image gets lower. There is a minimum rate that is set by your Fotolia rank that your payment will never drop below.

More information can be read here: https://us.fotolia.com/Info/Contributors/Royalties

Kind regards,

Mat

Thank you for the info Mat. Really appreciate your presence.

I recommend you post the full resolution file for a couple of reasons. As mentioned, the credits sales at Fotolia become more expensive the larger the file. What I think is possibly more important however is that customers search based on the size of the image and will not purchase a file if it is not large enough for their project. I can't tell you how many times I've spoken with customers asking for larger versions of a file. When I tell them there isn't one available, they move on and find one that fits their specifications.

If you upload at too low a resolution you could be costing yourself.

-Mat

Thanks for  your explanation Mat.

One more thing. Can you explain how FT decide sub-royalties? (mostly I get 0.25 credits, but sometimes more, even 3.30)

I don't see what you gain, if you submit only minimum size files.

It hurts when I see someone download XXL size and I just get 0.25  :'(

Well, sell a whole bunch more XXL sizes and pretty soon you'll be getting .33 !   ;D ;) ::)

Yeah, I started recently with FT, and very close to that milestone  :P

The only unethical thing is europeans paying to become a minority against their will.
EU is a banker fascist corporation working to undermine european countries financially and socially.

Sorry, but ethnic/religious conflict is coming to Europe and you're worried about some irrelevant shoot.

karma is a bitch

How can you have XL sale, if you upload minimum required size? I checked one of my photo, size 3000 x 1993px and the maximum size one can buy is L.

When I submit images to SS and 123RF, I normally submit minimum possible size as majority of the sales are coming from subs and they pay same royalties regardless of the size.

So far, I uploaded highest resolution to FT. That's why I'm asking whether it's worth to do so.... because most of XL sales are subs only  :(

Well, I went and checked, I had 8 10 credits sales in september. 1 so far this month...

I got only few XL (or larger) credit sales, but many many more XL (or larger) sub sales.

(I had 4 credit sales in this month and non of them are XL (or larger).)

I noticed that sub-royalties are not fixed on FT, anyone understand how it is decided? (mostly I get 0.25 credits, but sometimes more)
