What do you think about this shoot? Is it a crossing of ethical boundaries of photography?

General Macrostock / GI vs Alamy for Editorial Images
« on: October 07, 2015, 19:35 »
Is there anyone who contributes to both Alamy and Getty? According to your experience, what is the best place sell Editorial images out of those two?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Wishing editorial on Fotolia

Vote against editorial! And with Adobe Stock it would be crazy to offer it!

Seems like you don't have any editorial content. Why to stop others earn some more bucks?  :P

One more vote.
Actually more than half of my ports in other agencies are editorial....
I hope Matt can draw the attention of relevant people in FT/Adobe to consider editorial option.

They seems to be back at top tier, but for how long....?

My own portfolio of 100 on stocksy often beats 1200 on SS.

You only have 681 images on SS, don't you?

Wow, that's impressive.

258
Stocksy is midstock site with prices between 10-100 dollars. Artists receive 50%. Extended licenses are much higher and can be over 1000 dollars.

The agency has less than 1000 hand picked artists, unlike ss,istock etc...not everyone can join.

It is more like macrostockeagencies or smaller, specialized agencies like blendimages, tetra, spacesimages etc...

Income is much higher than on the micros, the lowest you get is 5 dollars , often average downloads are between 12-20 dollars.

Thanks, but according to leaf's explanation, monthly avg. income from Stocksy can be higher than SS (it doesn't have enough votes).

259
A site needs 50 votes to get an earnings rating.

The sites without an earnings rating are listed in order of what their earnings rating would be if they did have enough votes.  That is to say, Stocksy has the highest earnings rating of the sites that don't have 50 votes.

Avg. earnings from Stocksy can be higher than from SS?

Same here^^  I have thousands of pictures at both FT and SS. Adobe/FT is on fire right now, Emerald ranking and well below 400 but I have always been lucky with FT. Don't know why but maybe they have the right type of buyers for my shots.

Do you sort keywords of your images when you submit them?

Sort of. I do make sure that the first 10 keywords are exactly what the image is all about. The most important ones. Trying to imagine the keywords a buyer would use.

Its worked so far. :)

Thanks, I have to focus more on keywording in FT.

I reminded Leaf and he has added it now. It would be interesting to see where it will place within this current list.

Welcome! Your set of fractals are beautiful. However, are they really fractals?

Probably Leaf forgot to add it.

265
Which prompts me to try re-submitted the images few more times and see if another reviewer gets it accepted.

I don't understand why you should try few more time to submit an image on a subject which is sufficiently covered on SS. Actually, it seems like you have copied the concept from already existing photos on SS.

General - Top Sites / Re: 900K $ stock photo!!!
« on: September 29, 2015, 05:09 »
Nowadays it would be rejected at SS for 'poor lighting' and 'out of focus'.

Nowadays there are much better cameras and better post processing techniques.

267
I do understand, and I have plenty of editorials submitted and accepted, even by SS with their extremely strict acceptance rules. And I did explain above one of the main reasons I posted it under editorial, instead of a general category. But can you please perhaps explain the reason why other similar photos (again, see above links) are available for sale at SS under editorial then? I expect to hear that they were submitted earlier when rules were different, no?..

In my opinion, they cannot be editorial.

268
I already have the same two photos in full color accepted at SS. However, for artistic purposes I decided to post it in semi-desaturated variant, as well.

Seems like you really don't understand the meaning of editorial.

269
...classical yellow cabs in NYC where I have desaturated everything else but the cabs (classics as well, I know). I submitted these photos as editorial as they contained some people and stores/brands in the street.

This is unacceptable for editorial photos.

Stared to create an illustration around 4.00PM
Keyworded and uploaded around 5.30PM
Approved 10.00PM before I went to sleep.
When I wake up today at 6.00AM, it's already SOLD, just for $0.36.   ;)

Yeah, 123RF used to be my second choice too. But now I'm too tired with them. This site won't exist much longer.

RIP 123RF

General Stock Discussion / Re: Sensitive usages
« on: September 25, 2015, 05:46 »
Thank you for your reply and finding out those lines from T&C. It's not easy to find them. So, if I understood correctly, sensitive usages are prohibited by FT and 123RF by default.
Yes, but how many buyers would know that is moot.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. Many buyers would not bother about reading all those T&C.

Well, go and make a passport.

Yeah, why not to make a passport if you really want to enter the industry.

Actually, you're doing well.

Agree, compared to your port size, you are doing really* well.

*Compared to me  ;)
