To be exact the checkbox says:
"I allow users to use my media for free, even for commercial purposes, without further attribution or compensation to me"
For media submitted for Free License distribution:

I allow users to use my media for free, including for commercial purposes, without further attribution or fee to me.

Then there is almost no point in uploading to them. It will help them but does little for the creators. Do they think we live and create just to support them?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Mr. Rinder?

I find I think about him rather often. He and some of his minions gave me a very hard time in the beginning. But I also learned a lot from his posts and he was better later. I have no hard feelings toward him at all. I hope he is healthy and well.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Silly story of rejection
« on: June 12, 2021, 20:20 »
My apologies that I did not respond till now. But I no longer recall the site. I think they may have gotten the images from Adobe but not sure on that recollection. It was a site where they allow folks to combine images etc in templates for sites etc I believe. Just thought it was a funny story. Weirdness in the ms industry. And just kind of stupid too.

As a general question do you think one might have success with this?

Regards my previous question I am talking negotiations as an individual not as a group.

I think Im going to try it but I wanted to see what folks thought.

General Stock Discussion / Has anyone tried to negotiate?
« on: June 08, 2021, 06:57 »
With any microstock agencies for bigger percentage etc? If so what happened?

6
Yes they contacted me.

Asked for my license as proof of identity and sent me a contract. They are also requiring proof I own my company. They are located in Spain.

They are claiming they will negotiate better numbers with the stock agencies. I'm a bit wary though. Is it even possible to negotiate fees with them if you don't have a sizable market share? I do OK but I'm no Yuri.

General Stock Discussion / Silly story of rejection
« on: March 10, 2021, 05:51 »
I had happened upon a popular template company using many interesting images. I thought hey, maybe I should market my work here! So i inquired and sent them a portfolio link.
Between the time they got back to me I saw they had a number of my images already there. I thought, great! I'm a shoe in! They responded with something like your work does not fit here. I thought, What? I already have images there. I responded telling them this. They said send us a link. They responded with a your images don't fit here. What? I thought. You already have some of my images there. SMH You don't want my images but you already are using my images. Confounding.

I am just inquiring what others may know of them? Not accusing any theft or Copyright infringement here. Just an inquiry. Are they legit?

Hi I sent you a couple messages about the software. Can you respond? I am wanting to use the software but have some queries.

I think picworkflow has more functions than xpiks including the ability to store your files with them and also you only need to upload once if using picworkflow and they send to all sites using their bandwidth, where as xpiks works as traditional ftp.

I dont know what xpiks does but with picworklflow I do indeed upload a picture once to their storage and click which 10 or 20 agencies I want them to submit to. They then downsize to the allowed size and submit my picture to all agencies I asked for.

I had a very slow connection until recently and it took every picture 4 or 5 minutes to upload. So I was happy to only upload them once and they distribute them.
Xpiks sounds more like an FTP upload like FileZilla?

You have just repeated what I said.  ;D

Never mind. That was easy. Done! Over 26000 images.

OK I am a top earner and I want to be in. Can someone tell how to actually turn off my images and videos at SS?

12
Any NJ freelancers claiming unemployment?

How are you handling the did you work, did you get paid questions if you sold work during the covid crisis?

13
You keyword, upload to them and they handle the uploading end of it. Does a service like this exist?

If so and if there are multiples any suggestions on the most reasonable price wise?

General Stock Discussion / Deposit Photos Issue
« on: August 09, 2019, 13:14 »
Hi all. I sometimes receive emails from Deposit photos saying I sold some images. The thing is they always show that i've sold 3 in the messages, always 3. This has been going on for years. They are a poor earner for me so I've never really paid much attention to it. What has your experience been? Any input regards this?

Off Topic / Re: Global Warming is causing the Polar Vortex ???
« on: January 28, 2019, 18:46 »
Well since I am a trained climate scientist like you, I too have an opinion. Well really not that, JK. But I did read long ago a theory that the earth could cool from global warming. Sounds crazy I know! So the theory said that ice melting at the poles would create quite cold runoff of fresh water that could slow or stop important ocean currents that help stabilise global temperatures. Something about cold fresh water falling into the deep sea. Or some such similar thing. It was a long time ago that I read this theory and I don't recall most of the details. But I assure you this was a real theory.

Software / AI Gigapixel Image enlarger Anyone use it? Recommend?
« on: January 24, 2019, 14:16 »
Topaz AI Gigapixel

Anyone familiar with it?

Would you recommend it?

Thanks for any feedback.

This could be done entirely in PS. Provided you have the images to construct it with. However if it was me, I would use 3D software to render the objects and PS to put all or some of it together.

So this post is for folks with knowledge of how websites, search engines, links etc work. So I did a search of one of my images.  Some of the results show my pic in the thumbnail but link to others work. I have seen this before with other images of mine. Is this normal? If not who is responsible for this? The stock site or google? How can I fix this? Is it fixable?

Many thanks in advance for your responses. :)

I don't think there's anything to be done about it. Your image is probably on the page, just not the primary one - at least that's when I've seen this in searching for uses of my own work.

I believe it's that your work shows up in the "similar" section below someone else's image and that gets found in searches. For some types of searches you'd probably want to find things other than the "main" image on a page, so I don't expect to see a "fix" in the search engine.

A stock site might be able to make one of the small "also" thumbnails invisible to a Google search, but I don't think you'd really want that.

I don't expect this would bother any buyer - who probably wouldn't look for images that way anyway.

Other than puzzling you, what problem does this artifact of how agency pages are set up (with images from other artists around the item a user clicked on in search results) cause?

If they did a search for my image and are presented with a competitors image I may lose a sale. Someone finds my image likes it clicks on it and a different image pops up. Seems like a competitor is being promoted over my image. When they click on a link with my image I want them to find my image not a competitors. Its not easy to earn a living in this business and I need every penny I can earn.

Swings and roundabouts, someone searches for an image that is not yours and the link takes them to one of your images, what difference does it make.

And we know this is the case, how? The issue for me is I am a top earner so I don't want to subsidising other creators when I draw in buyers.
