So you have 2 accounts selling the same "best" images?!

I'm not talking about myself: I'm able to work and upload only the non-crap. I try simply to do my best, but I talk with colleagues and they perform VERY well.

They have THREE portfolios, obviously not with the same photos (they know too well what this could cause). They work a lot and divided the shootings distributing them between these portfolios: one of these porfolios is older, so, naturally this has lots more of images. But in proportion it contains lots of not-perfect images.

127
So... best images sell better... fine.  :-\
I'm not even sure thats true....some of what I think are my best have never sold and some distinctly average stuff sells well. Its a risky strategy to think you know what is "best". But I do try not to waste my time producing crap in the first place then wasting more time going through my port to delete it!

Of course: in the "strategy" of these friends they do this at the time of uploading: in the first portfolio they upload also the average-good files. In the other two portfolios they use their experience to select only the best and they are observing good results. I'm not saying this is "the Truth", but it seems a good proof that this theory isn't the worst.

128
So... best images sell better... fine.  :-\

I understand that this sounds pretty obvious, but I mean that a portfolio with "only the cream" will sell better than the same portfolio with other files not-so-good in addition, for example the same good photos and the same amount of photos of a lower quality (commercial interest).

Double portfolio doesn't mean double sales. So, if you were thinking to delete some cr*p and someone else is telling "oh I have had a file there for 10 years and tomorrow I sold it!!" ...

... er... ok, you sold it. But HOW MUCH did you sell the whole portfolio ?

This is what they observed: the whole portfolio performed better when there is no lower quality photo inside.

129
there's so much wrong in the OP, don't even know where to start. worst advice ever.,

Sorry, I can't understand. What's "OP" ? :-/ really sorry, not a natural English speaker.

130
"The galleries with "only the best" performed DOUBLE than the one containing the best and the rest, in proportion." what does "in proportion" mean. Its absolute income that counts

er... not when you try a model.

They had a user, suppose USER001, this is up and working: it has, NOW, 40000 files.
In the meanwhile they opened USER002 and USER003.

002 and 003 have 10000 pics each.

Obviously you can't do an absolute comparison. But you could do this in proportion.

And in proportion, USER001 that in absolute income is performing well, in proportion is not performing as good as 002 and 003 do.

That means "in proportion": that when user002 and 003 will have the same amount of files, they will perform BETTER than 001.

Hallo!
I have some friends that sell very, very well. They worked as one photographer using 1 account.
When they started to sell for 5000$ a month they started to have problems with our country taxes so they decided to split, open one account per person and level up the whole of their portfolio.

They had the opportunity to try some "what if" experiment: they left every kind of sh*t in the main portfolio and started to upload ONLY the cream in the new accounts or to return and delete what they considered "not perfect".

The galleries with "only the best" performed DOUBLE than the one containing the best and the rest, in proportion.

So if you were thinking "is it a good idea to delete all my cr*p and leave only the best images?" ... well: yes, it is.

Why?

I don't know: I guess it's because of the way the customer see your portfolio: they see a good image, but not useful to their needs: they open your portfolio and see ONLY THE BEST, without cr*p: this probably is impressive and sells! :-)

I'm not able to do this NOW: but when I'll double my portfolio I'll do this for sure: this may halve the time for the customers to find what they want without seeing all my so-so experiments!

My 2 cents, for you guys :)

Hi guys,
I'm finally OK with deep meta 3.x (except for the previously uploaded files that DM itself added too much keywords to).

Now I'm Starting to receive ESP batch reviews e-mails that contain summaries with "Some items require revisions.".

I go online in the Extra Sensory Perception page and wow,  :o, I can find out exceptional details like this: "revise".

::) er... revise WHAT? Where? How? and  most important of all WHY? There are no clickable links, there are no explanations, no details, nothing of nothing.

Ok, guys, I'm not good for getty? ok, I am in iStock and you are earning lots of money ALSO with my files. Good. So they aren't useless. That means I have this minimum right to know what the heck is happening about these reviews:

WHY are files rejected?
WHY are files to revise?
HOW can I revise them, given the God's gift to know why in the world they have to?

Have you, other contributors, found this thing online or did you find something useful and I'm wrong because there is plenty of solutions that I ignore? Thanks you all.

Oh, of course you can ask "but dude, why are you asking this HERE?" :)
Because in the end of all there very useful e-mails there is a very useful statement saying:

If you need further assistance with your Image contributions, please email us here. (here is: ESPStillsHelp AT gettyimages.com )

Good. And what do you think that happens if you write your questions to this very very very useful e-mail address?

In 3 seconds you receive this automated (very userful) answer:

ATTENTION: Thank you for contacting us, but this email address is no longer in use. Please instead:

1.       Sign-in to the Getty Images | iStock contributor system, ESP: https://esp.gettyimages.com
This is our new system which gives you single sign-in access to ESP, the Contributor Community website and Account Management.
Once signed in please use the Need Help? link in the top right corner.  From that page you have access to FAQs, links to Account Management if you need to update or access your account information and the ability to contact us if needed.

2.       If you have problems signing in to ESP there is an option to contact us for sign-in help.

We hope this helps you find what you need.

Many thanks,
Contributor Services and Relations

Oh good. You HOPE.
And if we don't find what we need? I looked for the word "revise" "revision" and so on for hours.
And here I am.

PhotoDune / Re: What a "nice" surprise

After more than 5 years being contributor and according to their site still among the top 50 authors ...

Wish you all the best and see you in the next life ENVATO!

And now they're not paying if you've a leftover of unpaid royalties if they're less than 50$. I've made a withdrawal BEFORE being screwed out of their system.

How do you say when someone takes something without paying?

Maybe STEALING is not the correct word but it's the first that comes in my mind.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Quantity vs quality
« on: February 28, 2017, 09:23 »
Would you rather give priority to quantity over quality in this era of microstock where million files are added monthly knowing your "one" super quality image will highly go unseen?

died from overdrawn

There is no more this choice: bad quality doesn't sell anymore. You have to produce high quality in high quantity.

...

Which contributors are they talking to who deem the royalty rate fair?

the whole remaining instead of leaving & erasing their portfolios & passing to symbiostock.

« on: February 10, 2017, 13:40 »
i still can't use it for upload. I can log in i can do batches prepare photos but when i try to upload it give me error: "A task was cancelled" i have installed all the deepmeta3 versions but same error... what hell i have to do?

for me it's the same, with half of the message in my local language.

Fotolia and Pond5 have slowly been gaining on Shutterstock in sales for me in the last couple months, but right now it's in 4th place.  Are you guys seeing the same?  I know the poll on side bar here doesn't show that.  Here's my order right now:
1) Videoblocks
2) Pond5
3) Fotolia
4) Shutterstock

absolutely no.

Like the poll results except for Envato that didn't perform so well (before they kick me in the ass) : my fourth is Depositphotos then Dreamstime.

PhotoDune / Re: Anyone unworthy of Photodune yet?
« on: February 08, 2017, 00:36 »
Just curious if anyone has been told their portfolio doesn't cut it at Envanto and had their accounts closed. I only make about $30 a month there and expect that email, but haven't received it yet. Just wondering if the culling has started yet.

Why should anybody worry about it? I missed some kind of early warning there? :)

I am not asking if anyone is worried. I am clearly asking if anyone has been booted yet. Envanto sent out an email telling everyone they turned off uploading and will be reviewing portfolios. Those ports that don't pass their "liking" will be terminated. That's why I'm asking......essentially have they started closing accounts yet.

Yes, I received the message tomorrow. I think I can use this to improve my quality level. Of course I can say I'm selling (now)elsewhere everything Photodune considered
Inappropriate content type, with Composition/Lighting problems, that doesn't fit their Authenticity and commercial viability, and groups of "Too many similar images". I sell each and every one of these files in SS, but of course not how much I like to.

So I'll use this failure to improve my quality.
Of course I'm tempted to say they suck, that their not-optoutable;D ) Essentials is a crap and so on. But... if I were selling lots (I were selling, but not lots) of pieces and earning lots of money ... I probably overlooked everything in Envato as like as I do in iStock and Shutterstock: they do something wrong? But I'm earning a lot? I don't mind.

Maybe I'll re-submit one day. They have an upload system that's really no-time-consuming for me ... so my balance work-earn was acceptable.

But my work wasn't for them: so ... I say KCUF off so far.
One day... I maybe change my mind. But NOT if they'll keep making impossible to opt-out to a non-author-driven price section like Essentials.

Thanks for this Franky.  I am not currently uploading to Istock,  but if I ever start back up, this will be a lot easier than tackling Gettys ESP.

Can you use it with your iStock login, or do I have to go over and get set up on Getty?
You need a new ESP login. All contributors should have gotten one by now.

Of course they should.
But they didn't.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: DeepMeta v3 Coming soon...
« on: February 06, 2017, 21:48 »
I'm still quite new to microstock and this forum keeps surprising me. Lowest commissions, terrible site usability, confusing sales data and now even concealed earnings, dumb support and usual greed... And you keep examining some new version of additional app for just one site (which is really weird by itself). I guess they should try paid access to their site...

Nevertheless it's a top tier.

145
No, I didn't receive anything...  >:(

General - Top Sites / Re: Fotolia no sales
« on: February 04, 2017, 20:13 »
near the adobe-fotolia join my sales in Fotolia dropped and stopped.

I asked if there was something wrong in my concept or quality (the same images sell VERY well in SS and iStock) and they talked about something I had just uploaded.

but my sales of OLD IMAGES that sold very well regularly , dropped. Not the new ones.

I asked simply if my content was undesiderable and if it made a sense continuing upload with them: they joked with this, answering that stopping to send content was not a good move to sell more: sarcasm is never an answer, nor a solution.

147
I try to put a lot of effort into most of my footage, creating the highest quality possible because any garbage clip ive ever shot never sells. With that said, I found a fella with 39,000+ clips on pond 5 which doesnt impress me from the stuff i've seen. Do you think it's possible to make much money with such a gigantic catalog? https://www.pond5.com/artist/weathernews#1/2063

You simply (er...) have to match supply with demand ... sometimes we think about ourselves as artists. But we are simply suppliers of something. Customers need are what you have to check about. Then you can do quality, if needed.

Try for yourself: try and upload 10 files o that kind (subject and quality, keywording included) : if they sell better than your high quality footage ... you have your answer :-)

I received my new ESP login, but the the link led me to an error page... Anyone else having this problem?

I don't get this email yet. So I don't now.

Me too. :(

Adobe Stock / Adobe Stock SIDE, contributor POV
« on: January 07, 2017, 02:01 »
I've tried Adobe Stock from the contributor point of view.
It's absolutely awful. In no way this is a good starting point for a practical approach to the daily work. It could be fancy, but there's nothing to do at all when it comes to the real work, in real world.

Fotolia isn't perfect, but compared to Adobe Stock it's absolutely Olympus of the Gods.

I tried, then exited and I'll hope I never have to return in that place.

Another big question is that I can't understand what is a sale in Fotolia and what is a sale in Adobe Stock, because of this one-way communication decision not to send Fotolia messages when you "link" FT to AS.

There is nothing practical, convenient in using the Adobe Stock UX to work. it maybe (and remember MAYBE) good for customers, but it's hell for working.

Have you ever tried to do some search? It also seems they have a very personal way to collect MRs ... It seems they read the EXIF data of the files ... so if you did your work 4 years after or before the shooting date they assume THAT is the real date. And so on.
Nothing is really smart there. Fancy, but not smart or serious.

And this is not "hateful criticism": I'm seriously worried because this is my work. They could work more with a system administrator (a person used to work with files) AND a real microstock worker: they could find out some obvious standards. They could discover - for example - the 123rf way of automating "bulk release attachment" and so on.

It would be nice to see this in Fotolia. Really ... Adobe Stock is not a workplace: it's a MARKETplace. And that's good, really.

If you do some tough work in microstock (minimum 100 files a month) : what do you think about Adobe Stock contributor interface? Is it a real place to do some serious work in your opinion?

do we agree?

Is this fair?
