VideoBlocks / Re: Is it safe to put content on videoblocks?
« on: October 23, 2016, 02:48 »
The next time when all other agencies dump their prices to match VB's, because of loosing customers, you'll get less than $23 (like it happened on istock), your sales on Pond will dry out. At that moment the allmighty VB will drop prices further... where? Maybe you will get 100% of $25. Will you be happy with it? Thinking further than yesterday is part of being professional.

Has anyone even doubt marketing strategy with 100% commissions? No?

It's not safe from our perspective... it depends how fast you want to degrade overall prices of your content. We have tried putting up some files, had some sales but we got to the calculator, what this would mean in near future.

Software / Re: Xpiks - open source software for microstocker
« on: October 17, 2016, 09:26 »
Any future version that could work with video too? We like the combination of keywording from different sites.

If future version will include video import (even if only screengrabs are in thumbnails), it would be great to export metadata in .csv form.

Software / Re: Batch watermark Video files?
« on: October 13, 2016, 13:01 »
Well, I tried it on your behalf. It's easy as putting butter on bread.

Just throw all files in to Queue, CTRL-A, click the "Preset" link and go under Effects submenu like in article. There you can add Image overlay and play with it.

This preset will include same settings on all files in queue if you selected all before clicking preset. After all correct video export settings you need just give it a run.

Have you tried this kinda proces via Media Encoder?

instead url you could put your text and apply on all files in queue.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock do nothing with spammers.
« on: October 12, 2016, 04:00 »
They don't give a crap if few people are doing it... but if we all start spamming titles, they might start doing something. Just a thought.

Bitches should allow bigger withdrawal limit, not just rise fee on each withdrawal. Their 250 per 2 days is a joke.

Way too low of course :\

123RF / Re: How to select price tier for footage?
« on: October 03, 2016, 05:02 »
I started putting everything in V2, and I wrote twice to 123rf about mass change to v2, but more than half of footage are still in v1 <_< They did reply twice, that technicians did change, but I don't see it happening.

Sales on V1 are poor too, so it wont hurt having them in V2.

386
We got best results from Pond5, but Shutterstock isn't that bad either. But SS does complicate with events with pre-sent accreditations with allowance for recording editorial footage.

Since when does ESP accept editorial videos? Istock does accept editorial images, but not videos.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Batch Loading Video From Dropbox
« on: October 01, 2016, 12:32 »
Until we got our own optic fiber to the internet, we used a backup computer server with 2TB of disk storage on a location that had optic fiber. Investing in a compact computer such as Gigabyte BRIX J1900 Ultra and a friend that has optic fiber/fast internet is a win combination. Computer uses very low power, you can connect to it via Teamviewer and use it as a file sending server. You could even have it as a second files backup if you put more hard disks around it. We still use it for 24/7 always online server for sending anywhere and as a TV box :P

Something is definitely wrong. We did make a step-by-step exporting files suitable for for stock agencies, but it's for a simple free software. Maybe you should try it.

123RF / Re: Sales
« on: September 30, 2016, 04:52 »
Sales on 123rf with about 5000 video files are catastrophe... we don't even get to $100 a month. And for some reason about thousand files are still pending for review more than a month. September sales are $5.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Which camera do you use for footage
« on: September 30, 2016, 04:48 »
Currently Sony A7s with Atomos Shogun for 4K, Phantom4 for aerial and Canon 5D Mark III for photos (i used it for HD video in the past).

It's like when a government sells arms to a rogue dictatorship regime and then acts surprised when they fire their own weapons back at them later.

Nothing unusual. We all know at least one. ;)

393
Maybe this statistics will give you some support, what can be done in just a year or two.

Well, being honest, even if my wife didn't believe me it will work, buying a cute cat was a really good investment. It costed a bit, but it sells like crazy. ;)

PS; Now we have a cute dog too.  ::)

We've done a lot of aerial shooting too, but only few particular shoots are constantly selling. That's why we are planning new sets with related theme if it will sell too.

395
There is no formula to it. Some footage sell right away, some take time. It depends really how unique and interesting for further use your footage is. We did have some occasion that footage got sales right away, but mostly all needed few months to get some sales.

We did put this in to account and we shoot further without any expectations. We do what we like to do and it pays of somewhere in the future.

Even bad promotion can be a good promotion. I bet that Adobe is getting even better visibility because of this mockery.

Shutterstock.com / Re: New content sale stopped?
« on: September 16, 2016, 01:24 »
Sales at Shutterstock in September are very low... not even close to last year when we had much less footage online. Something is wrong at their side, that's sure.

Looks like a closed system of contributors where they only have best clips online. Maybe it wont hurt sending them own portfolio if anything suits their taste.

It depends who their buyers are... i doubt that they sell clips for low prices. It would be interesting to have clips on their site to run some statistics.

399
Investing a lot of money in to heavy machinery while you don't even try doing unique footage with what you already have? Isn't that a bit naive?

Sorry, don't get me wrong, but with your video portfolio you have online, I doubt you'll get in to RM. You'll do even worse with exclusive on Getty/iStock.

Just a hint... it's not the equipment that does valuable footage, but the person behind it. And judging on what you already have, it would be more suitable to invest in high quality sets and make great footage with equipment you have, sell it on two or three RF agencies and enjoy the income.

Sorry if we destroyed your plans. It's still your decision on what you want to do.

General - Stock Video / Our experience in stock video industry
« on: September 15, 2016, 03:28 »
We have been contributing stock video for few years and we've started a website putting some experiences and tips for contributors and buyers.

It will slowly grow and receive many useful information, tips, how to and statistics. Maybe we will even start some courses (depends on ).

Your input would be useful too, that is why we are posting website here.
