I only use Blogger. I had that one for years and Twitter. Suited me just fine.
Personal advertising does work for me anyways.  :)

Yup every one does that. Its called multipurpose usage. And then some too. Just have to try a bunch of things and find what is most suited for your assets.  :)

Microstock is micro stock. You get a a bit of chump change with multipurpose collections. You own the rights to the image/graphic and someone has the right to publish it for a limited time and or per use on stuff.
If you do get some jobs in designing video games, you obviously must get more royalties because its more specific. Its more on the RM side after all. Well for some. That is if you sell the whole rights to an image or character design then you only get one fixed price.
Or if your lucky enough you get to be an in house artist/designer and get an actual wage. Still, there are some places you can still do better then that.   If you find it and or know someone. Or.....have built up a pretty good reputation, you can go far. :)

🎆Happy New Year! 🎉

I never understood the logic of sharing of how much you make. You only make yourself bait for those who would just love to break into your account.  :-X

81
Thanks for sharing. :)
Probably wants to make a profit on those too. I'm sure if they could, Disney co would probably start to charge for the air in their parks too.  :P

I have heard of someone else having issues with delayed payments but it eventually got solved. Apparently this issue is more common with traditional checks sent in the regular mail.
I would imagine especially now with every one going back to sending cards in the "snail mail.

I think before the fall of SS when it became a literal circus, I was putting a bit too much energy in making clip art. I think it was the literal kick in the bootee that I needed to put more effort in other places. Like going back to working on books for people for one thing. In fact I got a contact from a previous author recently for yet another book project. But its now a bit delayed till after New Years. But that's common with her. No problems. I can accommodate. In the mean time I will improve my online ports and other things I have been meaning to do.  :)

That's a affirmative "YUP!" on a password breach.

Must use different password on each place you are a member of.
If you have trouble remembering passwords, no problem. Just write them down in your own personal paper pad. Yes on paper and or save a set of your passwords on a thumb drive if you like too. I know its a pain to you but its necessary not to be "lazy" in turns of passwords.  Because hackers are hard at work wasting time hacking into weak accounts. Its easy for them to just make a living being a parasite, rather then being an honest person that has integrity and making their own legitimate money.

Also make sure you make passwords with not just letters and numbers but symbols too. Also use 2 factor authentication if provided for extra security.

Until we have something better, we have to do this "pain in the a$$" stuff to protect our stuff.

A little something extra.
I use FireFox monitor to monitor my emails for breaches But I'm sure there are many other aps out there that also do this.

I like to cover a little extra bases with this.  ;)

General - Stock Video / Re: Who is doing 2D animations?
« on: October 27, 2020, 22:44 »
I know how to do them my self. But I've only uploaded some pretty simple ones, since I don't have the right graphics and probably sound card for more elaborate animations.

Then again I never bothered to make any more or upload simple animations to SS since they really weren't profitable for me any how. Probably most stock places want more elaborate looking ones anyways.

Free or cheep software is not too much of a problem to find. Set up is no problem these days either. Fairly easy to put together yourself.  :)

Not good for the purchasers of those so called "download it for free images" either. Once you think you can download a few "free" images, the catch is that, there is a big cancellation fee if you no longer want to download other images.

So in other words is a lose, lose and lose situation for contributors and image purchasers.  Always a catch.  ::)

Many threads posted on this already. Might wanna do a search here.  :)
Mostly negative comments regarding starting your own stock/video site.

Boards are visible but not postable for me. Meh
I didn't do nothing wrong. In fact, Its been along time since I posted.
Probably just a hacker revenge attack.  ::)

I was just over there perusing the message boards and I read plenty of people uploading new content.  So all this protesting might not be as effective but on the other hand they are mostly of photos of the same likeness and other similar quality. 🤷

I still haven't made payout to pause my account yet cause of my small port. Not really fair to small ports these days.  ::)

Adobe Stock / Re: Mat Hayward - My new best friend
« on: May 29, 2020, 17:21 »
We are all Adobe customers.

They probably make significantly more money from us than many of us make from a little additional stock income.

And many creatives are media professionals in their day jobs, they build websites, design flyers, make videos for advertising etc...and customers and clients will often ask zs which agency we recommend.

You dont need ne essarily need referal links, nearly all my recommendations where done without.

But I will only recommend companies with transparent and rational business behaviour. Until May 26 2020, Shutterstock was a very drama free company.

So, why not recommend good agencies to clients.

And Adobe is the only company that has a symbiotic relationship with us. I am really glad they bought Fotolia.

For now just wishful thinking. Lots of people having are hard time navigating the Adobe MS part of the site. Lots of mistake licensing and other things. I see it all the time. 🙂As far as payment, its as good as its ever going to be for a MS site.......for now. 😶

I second the opinion to use upwork.com or guru.com. Here are some tips to using those sites...

1. Freelancers from developing countries are almost always much cheaper than people from developed countries.
2. You can either set a range for the job and let them bid for it, or you can set the price you want. Usually I set the price I want, which is lower than the default range you can choose from on the sites.
3. Freelancers on the internet are a mix bag in terms of reliability. Some people will turn around work the next day. Some will drag it out for weeks, then either finish it or not. Unless you have a lot of time, it is a very difficult problem to solve without testing a bunch of people, because no one will upfront tell you they are slow. Looking at past reviews of theirs isn't necessarily a good indicator. I've had very slow people work for me, but I don't mention their speed in the review because I don't want to burn bridges, since I know I might need them again.
4. I'd recommend setting some percentage of the pay based upon speed. So if they don't finish the work in a reasonable agreed time, they earn less. Or if they finish on time, they get a bonus.
5. Since you are looking for an illustrator, you need to test people out. You will get someone that claims they have 20 years experience, but you look at their portfolio and it is just ugly drawings. Number of years of experience does not equal to quality.

Sometimes haste makes waste.
But then it depends on what is needed.
A quality portrait or children's book illustration or custom clip art for a business card.

Also some people have other things such as a day job. So saying someone is slow in turnaround is not totally realistic because they may have other things that occupy time as well.

There are many great science illustrators on Shutterstock, etc. Maybe reach out to a few whose work you like? And yeah, when someone comes here offering to hire illustrators, why on earth would some of you jump in and recommend he take a chance on upwork, where illustrators, Im sure, have to give a cut to their corporate overlords? Jeez, for once let people get some fair money for their efforts.

Because sometimes a contract is not enough. Some will brake them regardless.
Its good to have a secure payment plan such as an Escrow or likewise account.  :)
But as i said before research is key and not just jumping in to a job offer.

I don't know, I had some great experiences as an illustrator in those places I already mentioned so far. You just have to use common sense in choosing what jobs you will do, what and how much pay is acceptable and announce your terms up front. Most important be professional.  How many times I've seen people have a conversations in the meeting forums talk like they were at home with their friends. Its like putting your feet on to the furniture such a a desk.
All I'm saying is when using online freelance services do your research and be wise about decision making both providers and those getting the jobs.  :)
