When did they cut the commission 20% in the last few months. What did I miss?
I'm still getting 50% on exclusive and 40% on non-exclusive? I was getting 50% since about 2010 if I remember right? That's 10%
Personally I don't care about their charity or board, I'm only interested in what I make.
10 is 20% of 50. So each indie file sold earns you 20% less that it would have had it been 50%
Oh that modern math again where a 10% cut is a 20% cut? The post should have said, 20% loss in potential earnings then, not 20% cut?
Changing commission from 50% to 40% is a 10% reduction in commission, no matter how anyone wants to slice it.
Blowing on about your charity generosity a few months after cutting commissions by 20% is not a good look.
Note, it uses the word commissions, not income or earnings?
And no I still don't care about their charity, I care about what they pay me! Selfish, aren't I?
Semantics aside*, you are still being paid 20% less on your non-exclusive files, and that's all you care about.
*and no matter how you look at it, it's still a 20% reduction in commission. If they went from 100% to 90%, that would be a 10% cut. 50% > 40% is a 20% cut.
And what is it from 60% to 40%? I'm trying to grasp at a bold number like 20% but I suppose that's wrong.
From 60% to 40% that would be a reduction of 33.3333...% in potential earnings
Which means you used to get 50%more than you are getting now never mind it's all in a good cause.

You need to draw a more personal response from them as I am sure that they know they have no legal basis for deactivating your account. You can also tell them that if by the 28th you account is deactivated I will deactivate mine also, Objowl.

I hope you find a way. I don't like Maduro but I don't find useful the US and European embargos that affect people like you. Knowing that the corrupt are a few.

Sanctions do not work by applying them to ordinary people. Look at Cuba, they are still communists and they have the Castros already 60 years in power. I don't know if all foreign companies are going to apply the same thing Adobe and Oracle did. Put everyone in the same bag. Sometimes I think that ordinary people for governments are nothing more than disposable pieces, which they use to achieve their goals and then discard them.
From what I have read ordinary people are not the target of these sanctions, besides which your contract is with Adobe Canada, which has narrower targets and you are not supposed to be collateral damage. This is the link to the Canadian sanctions related to Venezuela https://www.international.gc.ca/world-monde/international_relations-relations_internationales/sanctions/venezuela.aspx?lang=eng I would push Adobe Canada to give you a specific valid reason why they have disabled your account as the sanctions do not apply in your case.

I agree that this is pretty tone deaf. Sure - charity is nice, but I'd like to see a lot more info on the actual charities and how much their administrators are paid and what their connection is to Alamy before I woo yay.
The cut for contributors from 60 to 50% of sales and then to 40% tells a very different story than giving some profits to Charity.
Look at docs tab and be prepared to be surprised. https://beta.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity-details/?subid=0®id=1075453

Oh bummer, he left.
Red flags because you defend a forum bully and liar when we try to tell the truth to warn others. Why don't you take your own advices and ignore us?

Lets see your list of accomplishments. Oh wait, you dont even use your real name. Liar!
Somebody woke up grumpy, why are you attacking me? El Coco, Laurin Rinder, Merria Ross, W. Michael Lewis, in 1973 were hired by the AVI Records label to play on some extended remixes geared for dance-club play. An american answer to the european electronic disco sound of Giorgio Moroder.
What does a hired disco drummer in 1973 have to do with photography. I wrote on what fake truths he puts here on forums.
Fake for sure, it was 1977.

They don't need to sell anything any cheaper or give discounts and promotions, because they can say with all honesty that they are the cheapest on the market, that's all they need to promote.

Well, if you want a decent return per image there may be somewhere else, but you asked for a decent amount of sales and after iStock there is no where. That was the gist of my previous reply, but I couldn't resist a dig at iStock while I was at it.
Why did you not just bump the thread where you asked the same question?

Given that you are on iStock it looks like you are already scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Do it your way if it's a black and white case they will take it down, they have for me in the past. If there are grey areas you will need to send the DMCA notice, which if you save it as a template it's sure to save you a lot of time in the future.

The first rule of the Microstock Top Earners Club is that you don't talk about the Microstock Top Earners Club, that it would seem is the way the agencies like it.

Not a nerd and somewhat ignorant about these things, but is it possible that blockchain technology is already working behind the scenes without our knowledge? Getty for instance has had a partner in that business for a good while now.

I don't sell on Canva, and from having read a bunch of posts on this website over a number of months, I'd get the impression that Canva is of the devil. The curious part is that I've heard the founder of Canva on a bunch of popular entrepreneur type podcasts on number of times over the last few years, including pretty recently. The impression I get from the podcasts are that Canva is seemingly a pretty well run business. For a private company they have already achieve unicorn status, ie worth over a billion dollars. https://mashable.com/2018/01/09/canva-unicorn-status/. Clearly all your sales have dropped on that platform because they no longer value your work and no longer need it. They have other suppliers now.
and Canva are now in the business of giving images away for free, lets hope she's not that good and this is one venture she fails in.

I registered in the US and somehow my currency got set to British pounds, no idea how. I have asked to change it to dollars many times but they say it is impossible, even though you'd think it would be an easy change to make. Very frustrating.
if 1 credit also equals 1 pound (=$1.22) you should be happy about it.
Unless they have changed it recently due to the fall in the pounds value it is 1 credit = 0.75

Definitely having an impact as far as my uploads are concerned not that I upload much these days. Had my first rejections in years this week, both for Similar Content, both were uploaded at the same time as the presumed similar. One was a black and white version of the other (something I have done many times in the past with both being allowed) and the second was a very different coloured version of the other (likewise allowed in the past, even the distant passed when it was presumed more strict than recent times).
I also uploaded two images that had variations already uploaded many years ago, which on the same basis should have been rejected, but both were allowed. Lesson learned, leave it a while before I upload a similar, definitely not in the same batch.
Small sample, but I think that by today's standard my best selling image with 1,133 downloads would not have been allowed.
Edit to say I did have two similars in the same batch accepted this week, so they are not consistent.

I was trying to make a knok-knok howdy word play and searched words on Bing. Typing howdi(d) auto complete suggested
How cameron boyce died How hitler died Howdidido How etica died How avicii died How beth chapman died How bruce lee died How skaggs died
So, possible answers to the OP are, suicide, murder, accident and natural causes?
How microstock died by over supply in August 2019. RIP

Shutterstock sell trust in their product, it would be severely damaging to them if it becomes widely known that their product could be severely damaging to their buyers. Seems if they can't get a grip on thieves it is only a matter of time before a buyer kicks up a fuss that gets everyone's attention. They can't keep a lid on it for ever. Why they don't act when thieves are identified is a mystery and suicidal.

It's ironic that a photography who infringed another photographers copyright is the one getting upset, he must have known that Unsplash was too good to be true, but tried to hide behind Unsplash as the issuer of the license in this case. Unsplash have been slow in this case, because the publicity could be very damaging to them. How many times have they had to bail out the end user to avoid this kind of publicity?

what I find *really* interesting though is -
given how computer algorithms work - I imagine the image would have been "found" first on unsplash by copytrack because unsplash is a 'bigger' site... so....... was unsplash sent a message/notice?
The image must have been found on the end users site for Copytrack to request recompense from them, but only at the request of the original photographer. It may also have been found on Unsplash, but they will have a get out clause in their contract with the up loader (if found) of the image taking the brunt of the damages. It seems that the end user is the one publicising this as an issue of bullying by Copytrack, dealings between Unsplash and Copytrack would not be publicised unless it went to court.

Poor month, but even though downloads were down, what really hurt was a lack of "high dollar" sales....mostly all little amounts.
I think that's the main reason - high dollar sales have been down for canva, adobe and SS over the last year - an algorithm change wouldn't explain that for all 3 - subscriptions remain more or less the same.
They all have enterprise teams who look after not only the top customers, but also the top earners, that's where the higher dollar sales are going. Premium is where the dollars have gone.

You can close your accounts, but you cannot delete your images and they will sell after you are gone.
