No they shouldn't. Freepik shouldn't be given any oxygen.

Setting up a section gives the impression they are a legitimate site. They aren't, they are shady AF.

They set up scraping vector content from warez sites giving away our stolen goods, e.g. allfreedownloads, they were very open about it too. If I remember correctly they even had the gall to demand attribution to freepik if you didn't have a subscription. This is for content which by that time had been stolen twice over.

When it bit them on the a** they took all the cash they made from that to employ people to create very similar copies of our best sellers on the stock sites.

If anyone uploads work to them my guess is that they will see what gets the downloads and just get one of their in house employees to create a copy. With complete access to the stats it's even easier than going through searches on legit sites to find out what sells.

Thanks for you response. impressive truth.
I am totally agree with every word you said.
I tell you one think.
this site could be what you say and as everybody know are stealing and making money for themselves not correct way etc. but there is one thing, my friend has an account on mostly all stock sites and freepik also, and making about twice bigger on freepik than all other sites together. So, yes its stealing, but make good profit for contributors.
Would you accept that your hard work have just been rewarded?
seriously,
you work and make money - we all work for money.
Maybe, for those who do not care about stealing their works it is no problem unless they making money from it?
what do you think?

what other people think?

please share thoughts.

thanks

this total bu***st. according to you we should quit SS, fotolia the legal website and join hands with illegal thieves, what logic are you giving.
There are plenty of free illegal website available hurting contributors a lot by uploading their content illegally.
I have been approached by few free websites requesting me to join but their website is full of copyright content. They don't have any rules or laws for protecting content.

Brother all that glitters is not gold. Stay away from them.

Shutterstock.com / Re: huge sales drop for new images
« on: May 24, 2018, 03:58 »

- sales from my new images are dropping down in a way that I never experienced from 3 years of activity or so;

*oh, and my old best sellers still sells really good

Are you happy or sad?

how can canstock become affiliate to such partners and offer the images for free, very shady business.

It's a common enough practice to offer free samples or tasters in a lot of businesses. So it's not shady at all.

The real question is do we get paid for the freebies?  Now if we don't that is shady.

There is difference in offering as a sample and offering whole portfolio. I have my entire portfolio in there.

Image Sleuth / Freeart[dot]com another illegal website?
« on: May 10, 2018, 02:06 »
I just came across this website and they have my whole portfolio in there.
The website says "Free 8x10" print of any artwork on the site "
What's going on here? I am shocked.

You are alone in front of a huge company that doesn't consider you at all...

This is something a company should consider.
Are we nothing for them? ... well the post says it all and is a sad truth.

Recently SS earned a milestone of $500 million in total payouts for thousands of contributors which means we are happy with penny earn.

So many days and this thing is still live..

How amazing if any contributor do anything wrong or copyright even with one image, then their portfolio is immediately banned.

And if ss do same thing even after knowing the fact its hurting contributors, no immediate action is being carried out.

Awful

Not sure if you are talking to me or rinderart, but for now I have taken my images offline from SS until they fix their code. If they don't, I will close my account. This problem isn't new, they have had plenty of time to deal with it. I am only at two sites now, SS being one. Free images being advertised (by people posting links even on this forum!) means cutting into the decent sales I have on the other site too. And yes, it's like playing whack-a-mole with thieves, but I will take action with my portfolios as I see fit. Sales have dropped drastically at SS (it is no wonder) so it's not like my taking action is hurting my sales any more than they have already been hurt. I don't really care whether you or anyone here approves of my business, it is my decision. Since I have started in micro in 2005, I have taken a lot of stands, but I never do it because I think I am going to cripple one of these million-dollar companies... I am a nobody to them. I do it for my own peace of mind.

Let me try a different way of my view. I don't see how cutting my income in half, just because someone might give away one of my images, is a better way to work and earn. I also don't see any direct effect from these free sites, anywhere. You and some others are saying, just because there's a threat that someone could steal a small image, you'll shut down your account? What about the people who steal from all the other agencies, will you close all of them?

Since you say you are only on two and hint that the other is nearly as good or better than SS, please tell me. I think that's what I need. I could use a second good agency as FT is 1/3rd of SS.

That's not a good point, you should speak your voice and take necessary actions whenever needed.

Nowadays, it is happening too frequently.
If anyone here from SS seeing the forum then please stop making changes, do the test offline before making it live, its crashing up the whole system.
You will loose your customers as buyer do have deadlines and they'll be screwed.

How is it possible that I have never registered in graphicstock but I am still seeing my work in there with active downloads?  :o

I don't think such website are any reason for decline.
People are sharing images under CC license which flikr, davientart and many others have been doing from years.
Such websites usually have a complicated licensing option.

SS the other end, has a huge customer base of 1.4 million people in 150 countries which still makes it too far from the catch.

I can not upload to 123RF for a month. Status "Ignored"? Status can not be changed. Does somebody has any idea? Thanks

upload is working fine, I use FTP
but for status as "ignored" did you ever tried contacting them?

You have 100K+ files at SS?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

no wonder they were upset at being closed down! Roughing losing from $600 to $1,000 a day (business day)!

Yes, this is upsetting and also a warning for other contributors that they can be terminated anytime without any explanation and notice. Its unsafe business now.

« on: November 07, 2016, 06:32 »
... Twenty years later Shutterstock will do well to learn that lesson or its customers will search elsewhere also.  I look at the antiquated software of SS (search, map breaking, uploads failing, outages) and wonder firstly how it can describe itself as a technology company ...

Someone here said there are 300 IT specialists working for SS. Are they all idiots? I do not think so. If they (IT engineers) do not fix it they just do not have an order from their CEO.

Agree, maybe CEO himself never wanted to.

signed. Great job and thx for that!
Another example of how important it is to be united!

Amazing, I signed too.
I also think we all should be united against all those illegal gfx websites who gives our work for free.

You think 15% is fair??

So for a $100 sale the contributor gets $15 Getty pockets $85

 Stunning!  :o

Get a small party at McDonald and all your $15 earnings gone. Now feel like a beggar

$ 0.02 is nothing but giving us a s**t, I will never support such companies, deactivating my files now.

one question, why should we give opinion to you?

Unless I've missed the odd post here and there, I don't think he asked for opinions. He's more looking for a partner to help grow the business for an equity split.

Yes he stared the thread with same and then shifted to more opinion section.
Person is showing huge money investment in buying resources and don't know how to progress? Is this a showbiz?

This guy isn't much aware about the stock image market. Buying not so good domain at such amount without proper market study and thinking to come here and ask everyone for the advise on how to run it successfully.
I also doubt his equity share is only a fake marketing tactics.
