So reading this thread, three possibilities: - They got tired of being harassed by others,
- They got tired of harassing others.
- They died.

I've found its either useless or hurts sales. If your image is part of a set of complementary elements (the others of which you sell ) you might see success.

An important update: It turns out the grfx plugin had a quiet following of developers that are interested in seeing it active again. Someone else has offered to help maintain it! This is a breath of fresh air to say the least. Expect to see it back on wordpress.org again. For the Tech Guysgrfx has always been optimized for MULTISITE which means that with the help of https://premium.wpmudev.org/ you can actually host photographers / illustrators for a monthly fee. In short: make money running an image-selling network. grfx is now for developers and web-savvy people to make money on. grfx will be let out to programmers and elites of the industry to develop for their own needs. Free of charge, open source, and with contributions from the pros. You will find grfx code is well-commented and understandable, and generates beautiful PHPDocs Blender 3d went through a similar evolution - now I know everything will be ok. My other project is well along and will likely have some compatibility with grfx. Even better than a WIN/WIN is a WIN/WIN/WIN no? In a short time it will be re-hosted on wordpress.org and all documentation will be updated to reflect this change of direction.

Great article. If I ever get the travel bug I'll have to do Costa Rica for the animals.

Would you mind introducing the rest of the team since you mention them often?
Also, more explanation on the SIF (Stock Inclusion Fee) would be welcome by many, as some have discovered this and are understandably concerned, since no agency has yet attempted to charge users for image inclusion while yet unmarketed except for twitter and blogging activity imposed upon its users.
It might be wise to post that in your own thread simply because this one is dedicated to the continuance of the original ideas that were inspired by events in 2013, hence its original professional collaboration.
On the original note, the beta has gone well and the new software seems to run very well on Windows and Linux. I have yet to compile the Mac version, but speed stability has not proven to be an issue.
I will post updates as things progress.

Just so there's no confusion: Symbiostock in its new incarnation is not a 'hybridized'
Profound choice of words.

FTP is broken on my site, cant find directory folders
I never got response via email or here on this issue. The replacement is well along, so I'm going to suggest just holding out a bit longer. When you see what is coming you will find great relief in deleting your php site. Its 2016 - while we don't have flying cars yet (this was an epic disappointment for me since year 2000) I am well along a system ready for the future.
As a general update to everyone else of the legacy user group who hasn't seen this yet - I am giving updates via facebook. If you are comfortable signing a nondisclosure you can see previews of what is coming.

Although, impressively, all of the posts have been to the off-topic message board. So at least he's courteously obnoxious.
Wait till he posts an essay on Microstock history. We can keep that one.

Executing that little bit of code in the screenshot below brings you to Shutterstock's jobs page. I thought it was funny. I like little web easter eggs like this. Typing certain search criteria into google will also get you a gamified programmer's test that results in a job offer. http://fortune.com/2015/08/27/google-has-a-very-clever-recruiting-trick/

One fine day these things will be a memory. But for ol' time's sake, go ahead and send me an email and we'll fix it. Nice nickname, by the way! You should keep it.

Welcome back Leo.
Wishing you success.
Thank you! I'm actually hoping for the success those who use it, as was the original intention. Understandably not everyone will do the same sales, or have even the same goals. The intention with this final thing is to at least save people much time and simplify much of their day's work in Microstock, which in itself lends to a form of profit. To avoid confusion or misplaced hopes (which causes unrest), I wish to keep all concepts and expectations as simple as possible. Needless to say, we've discovered how not to invent the lightbulb! But the lightbulb is still a good idea. Lots of users were overwhelmed and had a lot of varying hopes. I want this project to be a cup of tea or a cup of coffee, whichever you prefer.

This post is addressed to the initial users of the old system we had created to network sites and sell direct. Soon I will be putting out a beta for it's replacement, 6 months in the making. While there were many users, this call goes out to those I had been more closely associated within it's development, its testing, etc. The announcement also extends to those who grew "attached" to it, have been enjoying sales through it, etc. This does not apply to those who have very understandably moved on, or to those using the hybridized version which was repurposed for other agendas (not my product). https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=571289063020724&id=100004189069423I will not putting out the initial release here in MSG, though I would have liked to do so, but rather I will be dealing personally with those who maintain interest and have found the concept useful. It is prudent not to go into great detail at this time, but here are some things you can expect: - No more wordpress dependency.
- No more complex website administration.
- Cleaner, faster, simpler.
- Future-oriented.
I could expound, but I think these four things really emphasize what I have striven for. Unlike my previous endeavour which was indiscriminately crowd-sourced, this will start mostly as a private endeavour between myself and those mentioned above. You may contact me via my website ( http://www.clipartillustration.com/contact-clipartillustrations-com/) or via facebook.

Yes, business - normal one - should be registered and pay to state taxes, social security etc. everybody can continue this list. People, receiving an excursion for free from one company, often tell me why we take money? (photosession on streets for tourists and businesses). And last week we had 4 demands for photography and video of wedding, 6-12 hours on place, for 150-250 eur. and even for free. That could not cover travel and other costs of course and was refused. The last ones explained, that they already paid a lot for registration, for dresses and restaurant. I said i am not related to those, they told they will find a photographer which will understand them.
How exactly does one say "can you do this for free?" Do they build it up slowly or just ask outright?
Side note, doing my final assessment of Symzio, such things are probably soon to end... I saw this article on their site, The Prophetic Symzio: http://www.symbiostock.org/forums/topic/the-prophetic-symzio/ With this guru-style spiritual successor of microstock, I don't think there is much to worry about. It was nice revisiting this little arena again. Can someone add my activity to the "How have you promoted Symzio today?" thread? http://www.symbiostock.org/forums/topic/dec-182015-what-have-you-done-to-promote-symzio-today/ Over and out.

Leo, same processes in real life photography services. We have more requests for free work than normal clients orders. People which have all necessary for life from the state or some commercials, demand other services to be provided for free. But to provide services, normal business should pay!
I'm always amazed how that works. I still don't understand it.

theres one problem with your theory though. the forest aint dry its soaking wet
Its possible. You might be an exceptional-top-quality-producer, in which case that is true for you. But for many it is not. Unfortunately if you don't have exceptional work, one is forced to try other things at this time and take risks they wouldn't otherwise, which is why you see 30 contributors instead of say, 2 or 3.

^^^ Point being, a vacuum forms. A state perfectly un-ideal. By natures design something has to change. - Someone must do something stupid.
- or someone must do something intelligent.
- or someone acts in panic.
- or someone acts at the time planned.
- or a revolution.
- or an evolution.
...doesn't matter what. Any one of these could start something...it doesn't matter what. The forest is completely dry now -- the perfect time for even a small flame... get what I'm saying? Even in the seeming foolishness and chaos there is a degree of sensibility and order. The state of the market is perfect for positive change, because as they say, it can't get worse. Can someone prove me wrong? [*edited for spelling.]

What do you expect the Stock Inclusion Fee to be? That's fairly important knowledge to have before uploading hundreds of images.
SIF, brilliant!
It doesn't make sense to charge a SIF when they get 30% on each sale.
It doesn't make sense based on what we know. It doesn't make sense to drive on the left side of the road where I am at. I find that this subject is even talked about very fascinating. I think its a natural phenomenon at work, like an economic sunrise and sunset if you will. See attached chart. I of course wouldn't touch this model with a ten foot pole but still its very interesting to witness. We can expect more stuff like this as time goes on. There is no choice.

When I was uploading to pond5 I had to zip up vector files with image files. Unless I automated the zip process, I couldn't have done it in reasonable time.
What agencies have unique upload requirements, different than the my-file.jpg + my-file.eps convention?
Also, what agencies have upload requirements that would benefit from pre-upload automation?

I think there is room for improvement like you say, but its the first of its type. I'm admitting its impressive because: - They distribute a free wordpress plugin that lets you sell direct & connects to Symzio optionally.
- They host sites for people who can't do it alone.
- They aggregate all of it.
- Decent commission.
Admittedly there are a few things that need cleaning, but for so many things done in less than a year, its good. A year from now it will be polished for sure. Any one of them is a full time job, and each element has its own complexity. Just thought I'd throw a little praise out there. Dodging out now
