Pond5 / Do photos sell on Pond5 ?
« on: December 24, 2016, 06:02 »
Do photos sell on Pond5? I have not taken any videos yet and have 300 images only. Is it worth uploading them on Pond5? How much should I charge for a high resolution image taken with a 20 megapixel camera? Should the price be the same for all sizes? My images are selling well on SS and Fotolia, but not on DT and not on Alamy.
Thank you very much to all who have helped me so far and answered all my questions. Merry Christmas and a Successful New Year to all of you.

Alamy.com / Do food photos sell on Alamy?
« on: December 22, 2016, 02:37 »
Do food photos sell on Alamy? I have uploaded the same images I sell on microstock to Alamy but have not had one sale yet. My portfolio is small with about 220 images. I also uploaded editorial images but no sale. It seems such a waste of my time. I am doing perfectly fine on microstock even though I uploaded only 290 images so far.

General Stock Discussion / Xpiks
« on: October 13, 2016, 09:22 »
Can I use Xpiks uploader to upload to Alamy? I read on Alamy's website that the correct category needs to be chosen when using FTP uploader like stock photo or LiveNews. I can't choose that using Xpiks.

iStockPhoto.com / No views

Am I doing something wrong? I have just noticed that many of my images on iStock have 0 views. I am not exclusive with them.

Bigstock.com / Bigstockphoto Email notification
« on: October 04, 2016, 12:08 »
I have recently started uploading on Bigstockphoto. Don't they send email notifications when an image was bought? I don't get any notification.

123RF / Xpiks and 123f
« on: September 01, 2016, 03:07 »
Hi, I uploaded 10 images to 123f and got an email yesterday saying that I was accepted. Why do the 10 files still show as pending? I uploaded 10 editorial files using Xpiks. Where did my files go? I can't find them on 123f. Can't I use Xpiks to upload to 123f? Do I have to do anything after uploading them? No categorising? How do I tell them that these files are editorial? Don't tell me I have to upload on their website only just as I have to do it with iStock.

Deutsche Diskussion / Deutsche Microstock Agenturen
« on: August 29, 2016, 10:38 »

Where to upload editorial photos taken in Britain? Is it best to upload them on Alamy as RM or on the microstock websites?

Shutterstock.com / Model release and Intellectual property law
« on: August 19, 2016, 08:07 »
So far I used the DT model release form when uploading an image to SS. I never had a problem. I removed the DT name. Today I got an image rejected of Bahrain fort with 2 people exploring it. I had the model release form from DT. The second reason was intellectual property law. They are slowly driving me made with it. There are photos of that fort on their website without a property release. DT accepted that photo. SS also rejected an image a few weeks ago of public benches in a public square. Do I need to use now SS's own model release form?

General Stock Discussion / When to upload which photos?
« on: July 24, 2016, 06:24 »
I have just taken images of the beautiful wildflowers that are growing right now and wondered when to upload these images. What about typical summer photos of ice cream etc. When do you upload these photos? After you have taken them ? Is it better to keep them in a folder and upload them in January for the next summer season? That way they will turn up under NEW in SS. When do I upload typical winter themed photos? 6 months before Christmas or when is the best time? My new images sell once on SS and then they seem to get lost in the sea of all the millions of images.

Alamy.com / keywords
« on: July 22, 2016, 10:07 »
I was just accepted by Alamy and need your help. There are 3 categories of keywords. Do I need to use the last category if I still have space for keywords in the second category? Do I need to add keywords in all 3 categories? I have just uploaded new images after I got accepted. The images disappeared. They are not visible for adding keywords.

General Stock Discussion / Alamy / EyeEm
« on: June 18, 2016, 06:54 »
Is there any point to register with Alamy if I want to register with EYEEM? Photos uploaded on EyeEm do get reviewed by Alamy and Getty. Is there a disadvantage of uploading to EyeEm apart from copying and pasting titles? There is no space for description. You can't add your own keywords. Durant that affect badly the ranking within Alamy? Can I upload the same image to both? If uploading to EyeEm the photos will be sold on EyeEm, Getty and Alamy. I have not sold one image on MostPhotos.

Photography Equipment / Sirui T-25X
« on: June 18, 2016, 06:04 »
I thought about buying the Sirui T-025X Carbon Fibre tripod. Does anyone have experience with it? It should be fine with my lightweight Sony RX100M3 camera but what about if I want to buy later a better camera like the Sony A7 or any better camera that can take photos with 300DPI. My camera's photos are only 72 DPI despite the 20 MP.

General Stock Discussion / Photos of cities
« on: June 18, 2016, 02:30 »
I am going to Istanbul soon. Is it worth it to upload the very best photos of cities on macrostock agency Alamy? I don't want to sell them so cheap. Is it possible to sell them to more than one macrostock agency? Do I need a better camera than my 20 MP Sony RX100M3 to sell to macrostock agencies? Why would customers pay a lot on a macrostock website when they can get the same images on microstock?

General Stock Discussion / EyeEm
« on: June 18, 2016, 02:24 »
What is EyeEm all about? Is it worth uploading there? I read that if you upload there the photos do go to Getty and Alamy. I am not with Alamy and heard that Getty doesn't allow uploading like microstock.

General Stock Discussion / iStock Review time
« on: June 14, 2016, 08:27 »
How long does iStock need to review images? I am waiting what seems forever. It is my first upload of images after getting accepted. Even DT is faster.

Photo Critique / Another photo rejected by SS
« on: June 06, 2016, 09:25 »
I had one photo accepted and one rejected. My camera makes noisy photos with it's one inch sensor. Today I had to pull the noise removal slider all the way to 70 in Lightroom and there is still noise. Is it possible that this is the reason that my photos look soft? My peanut cookies started to look all like plastic. My old camera has an even smaller sensor but makes less noisy photos. I am starting to hate the Sony RX100M3 camera. My old camera was half the price and is better. I pulled the sharpening slider to 35. There is still noise. To remove it all I would have to set the noise removal to 90. Is there a better but still lightweight camera that's suitable and doesn't produce so much noise?

General Photography Discussion / Rejected
« on: June 01, 2016, 07:21 »
Hello, Shutterstock rejected this image for possible Intellectual property law.....
I read that cars fall under that but not boats. Can I upload it again but this time as editorial or does the same law apply? I have another image with sailing boats but no houses. Can that be uploaded or also not?

44
Sorry to ask but I can't find the answer online. When I take a photo of a plate and cup on saucer next to it my plate and saucer lean to the right and left. That looks horrible. How can I correct that? I do have Lightroom 6 and Affinity Photo but can't work out how to get these plates, saucers, cups straight.

Shutterstock.com / Accepted
« on: May 19, 2016, 04:30 »
Hello, I was accepted by Shutterstock yesterday. Well, 5 out of 10 photos. I just wanted to share the good news with you. Thank you for all your help. I do have a question. I took a photo of an esplanade with residential buildings. It was rejected for being too soft. How much can I sharpen a photo for microstock? How much detail can I bring out? I thought that i should not sharpen a photo or add too much saturation because the customer will do it. When I make an image for POD I bring out a lot of details. Not quite HDR. I just don't know how much I should do for microstock.

General Stock Discussion / Fotolia Intellectual property law
« on: April 18, 2016, 02:14 »
I don't understand this. I have uploaded a photo of Meersburg on lake Constance to Fotolia. I have taken the photo from a ship on the lake and you can mainly see the promenade, trees along the promenade and houses on the hill. On top you can see the castle Meersburg. The image was declined. Reason: Intellectual property law. But I don't understand this. There own website has photos of Meersburg castle, taken from the lake and even much closer. Even photos of just the castle. Why are they then on there? I wanted to take photos of Haribo gummy bears. There are other companies who produce gummy bears. Can I take a photo of them out shall I better leave it?  The same Photo of Meersburg castle was accepted by Photo4me.

General Stock Discussion / GO Stock a new online tool
« on: April 12, 2016, 14:54 »
Is Go stock good? I am still copying and pasting. That has to stop. I don't want to pay for ProMaster. I don't upload enough for that but too much for my damaged arms to cope with.

General Stock Discussion / Restaurants
« on: April 09, 2016, 02:43 »
Hello again. I have taken a photo inside a restaurant and I do have a model release form. It is my first photo with a model in it. Do I need a property release form if I take photos inside a restaurant, coffee shop....
